Stellar Blade has a user metacritic of 92, (It made the top 10 picks by the users, just not the top 5 that we see now), so yeah its a bigger GOTY contender than any of the gachas there. Gacha games give rewards to the players when they win awards so not surprizing alot of players voting for them.

Its probably the most miserable player choice selection of games i seen in a long while. The inclusion of DLC for GOTY was a mistake. From that list only Black Myth is a decent pick.

Yep and 96 rounding up PSN score from actual customers. The actual top 5 will be Wukong, Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Space Marine 2, and Elden Ring DLC since that's what most of the people liked on the 2024 ign votes where around half a million people voted. Without counting DLC than Astro Bot will take the DLCs place.

My personal GOTY, I hope the studio gets a crack a sequel.

Don't have to hope since they are already considering a sequel with the PC version being worked on now. Game was a great successful for their budget. The ratings increased by a lot since the first sales announcement. Definitely sold a lot more now. Game was amazing and it's far more than just attractive characters despise what the woke lunatic liars want people to believe.

From that list Shadow of Erdtree, but I definitely not agree most of the games on this list here, but thats just me.

I think a lot of players will share the same sentiment, but it's probably just a matter of arithmetic. Number of people from China who can vote vastly outnumbers rest of the world and with them only picking these 4 games, they don't really give any chance to other games as regular voters will lean into much larger pool of games to pick from different countries and genres, and ultimately this difference works in favor of games voted by voters from China

Its just nature of TGA and most awards like this, it popularity contest thats all there is to them.

Same reason Elden RIng is there again. Genshin got a game update (Expansion). Its dumb, but thats on The Game Awards for allowing nonsense instead of having a dedicated category for expansions and DLC.

Don't like any of them that much but Wukong is better than all of them there.

I liked Black Myth at first but eventually stopped playing it. Astro Bot is better but not there, Stalker 2 is better but not there, Indiana Jones is better but not there, Shadow of the Erdtree is there and is better but is an expansion and probably shouldn’t be there since you can’t play it without first playing 70 or so hours of Elden Ring.

I don't know how things have gone in previous years but I'm sure it'll be Wukong or Genshin but it'd be funnier to see the online anger if WuWa or ZZZ win. Then next year let it be a different gacha. People here were fuming about Infinity Nikki. That should be on next years ballot. I checked out the gachagaming subreddit recently. I think they've really enjoyed Girls Frontline 2. Those 2 for next year

Wukong was great, I'm okay with it winning.

I had a close family member fall off playing Wukong which is the only reason I didn't go full on fanboy for it this year. I realize that it isn't everyone's cup of tea and on base PS5 it is not the ideal experience, but the game itself is fantastic.

SotE is also legend, but I also get that some people hated the last boss and let it ruin their experience before the game was patched despite only playing all the older games after their xpaks had already released, and it is also a DLC so I don't expect it to win.
