It says FF sold 10 million in the last year, DQ sold 3 million in the last year. Considering DQ hasn't had a non-spinoff release in years and FF just had two huge AAA releases, I'd say DQ is doing pretty well.
Hey man I'm sorry, it was written black on white, I could have read...

Thanks again

Yeah I think it's pretty solid. I hope 3 HD sells well :D

I think it'll do well relative to scope. I mean a DQ3 HD Remake (with a Switch version) is already a million seller from Japan alone, be interesting to see how far the rest of the world can push it.

+1 for me with the FF1-6 Pixel Remaster physical collection set this month.

What's interesting is looking at the UK sales data for it, 62% of copies sold were across PS4+PS5 and the remaining 38% were on the Switch which is quite a lot.

I imagine if they can bring FF7R part 1 on Switch 2 it would do quite well. I'd pick it up and play it handheld.

And to think they've called the game Final Fantasy because it was their last effort to be successful with an RPG.

if FF sold 10 M in the last year, I guess we can estimate 4-5 million for VII Rebirth? 1-2M for XVI and the rest is spread out?
That was my thinking.

The majortity of the classic FF library now (1-12) is on the Switch and everything except for FF7 Rebirth is on PC and so there's probably a lot of people picking up the odd FF game they want to play for the 1st time or replay and have in their collection. There will see a stream of sales across the wealth of games over the various platforms (PS, Xbox, PC, Switch).

I-VI pixel remasters are on sale now on PS I’m tempted to get them for Portal (just recently finished VI on Steam Deck) but I love the ergonomics of my portal.

SE is still concerned and disappointed
Of course, Final Fantasy franchise used to be behemoth back then but now their last three AAA FF games sold less than 10m for each entry.

FF7 Remake - 7m
FFXVI - 4m
FF7 Rebirth - 2.5m

Meanwhile other 3rd party publishers
Elden Rings - 25m
Monster Hunter World - 25m
Monster Hunter Rise - 16m
Resident Evil 2 Remake - 14m
Resident Evil 7 - 14m
Resident Evil 8 - 10m
Sekiro - 10m
Dark Souls 3 - 10m
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 - 10m
Dragon Ball Fighters Z - 10m

Persona 6 a weeb JRPG is going to outsell FFXVI and it will be glorious sight to behold.

The sales numbers of the recent entries look pretty damning when laid out like that.

C'mon, just make an announcement once overall sales hits the round number of 200 milli.

This is ridiculous..

Let's also make a thread once the series sales hit 199.89 millions!

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero outsold FF7 Rebirth in just 1 day. i wouldn’t be shock if it also outsell FF16 by now

SE FF games sold x3 of what Atlus games did (and on one platform and local PC fans always claim that sales would skyrocket otherwise).
So maybe they shouldn't.
Atlus make better RPG’s SE are finished I played through rebirth and it wasn’t very good it the only reason it gets any attention is because it’s got FF7 attached to it otherwise it would be getting 6/10 from most publications.

Yeah except FF7R has the best combat they've ever made, it's one of the best arpg combat systems ever created.
Your talking shit mate rebirth is neither a good rpg nor action game it’s a franchise with an identity crisis I’d sooner play an Atlus RPG or a dark souls game any day of any week, Maybe if square start making turn based games again we can talk.

Sparking Zero is definitely going to sell over 10m without any issues. DBZ kakarot is another title that will sell over 10m mark as it's currently sitting over 8m.

If you actually think this seriously then you're just bad at the game sorry. Objective facts.

And none of them are JRPG like FF games.

Persona 6 a weeb JRPG is going to outsell FFXVI and it will be glorious sight to behold.
Highly unlikely

It's nothing more but your opinion

What's so good about it exactly?

And how would you rate it vs the combat systems of FF9, 10 and 12.

I've played FF7R for about 6 hours. Every encounter was easy and in the end I got bored with it and quit. Really tried hard to like it.

That's like quitting when you only have access to fire and fira.

It's got basically infinite depth, you can chain incredible amounts of combos, there's a shitton of routes and every single character has their own unique moveset that works in tandem with others.

Spoiler: here's a taste of what's possible with just Tifa with enough execution and practice. This isn't even a full team, just someone who's mastered Tifa's combat style with no team-up attacks or limit breaks.

Also, the materia system is amazing and lets you do so much stuff, and imo it's implemented even better than original FF7, the weapon ability system is an improvement. Everything works in harmony and when you find a good setup it feels like one of those OP builds in a roguelike. And with enough skill you can do things like this

Does the difficulty scale as well? Or is it mostly easy mode throughout the entire game?

Ff1 on nes? Fuck, not hitting the next enemy over once the 1st has been killed resulting in an automatic miss.... I hated that mechanic.

But I was gonna say I'm responsible for a dozen sales at least

What counts as Final Fantasy? They throw the name on everything, including putting it on non-FF games when they release them in the US (Final Fantasy Adventure, etc).

Im using an Everdrive - and theres been many recent patches that thankfully remove that miss gameplay element.
On top of tons of other fixes - like thieves actually being able to run successfully now. "FF Restored" then "FF Hasted" - plus a recent re-translation are the ones im using. So wild things like this exist.

Im not exactly sure why - maybe the challenge - but FF1 on NES seems simply better than the Pixel Remaster. The remaster is still good - its just missing something.
Oh and I still have my original NES FF1 box, manual, and maps. A trip down memory lane...

You know they were probably hoping FFXVI and FFVII remake series would bring them to over 200 million, but they probably were tired of waiting when sales flatlined so they just released it now to meet some shareholder report.

Anyways,
Not bad for a franchise that hasn’t been very good for the last 25 years.
I have nothing more to add.

Is that counting all the spinoff and remakes? Conservatively, that's at least 25 games, or 7.8 million per game. It's sustainable, I suppose.

I would assume so.

Remember that FF16 was released June 2023. So if it's September - September, it's mainly:

Rebirth
PC version of FF16 plus perhaps a bump in sales when the DLC was released on PS5
... and the Pixel remaster, maybe.

And since we can be pretty assured that Rebirth's sales were super extremely front loaded, and the PC version of FF16 sold like 250k max... kinda makes you wonder how well the Pixel Remster sold on Switch.

for remake the difficulty scales a little bit during the normal mode playthrough but hard mode is where the combat really shines and the difficulty scales much better
in rebirth the scaling is quite decent since they added dynamic difficulty and I found parts of the game very challenging, especially some of the optional side content. hard mode in rebirth i found very difficult, some of that stuff was harder than souls games.

I am sure they are doing two things here:
1. Tying in MMO accounts active/not, free or paid
2. Anything using the Final Fantasy in the title
