The hype around Starfield is massive, and growing.

You cant seriously be suggesting that Todd Howard and his upper management had zero input into the development of Fallout 76, I mean seriously?

He will of had input for sure, and would of had to ok certain stucff, but he and his team were deep in development of Starfield.

Its like the terrible GTA Definitive Edition games that came out a year ago or whatever. People blame Rockstar for hiring incompetant studio to develop them instead of doing it themselves and respecting their legacy. Poeple dont call Rockstar bad developers over it though because Rockstar didnt develop them.

76 was a development effort from both Todd's team (maryland) and Austin

Maryland handled the base of the game and Austin worked on the engine + post launch support. Todd is very much responsible for it.

Doesn't really matter anyway. It was a shitty attempt at something new. I can trust them (somewhat) with what they're good at which is singleplayer RPGs

That's not what I said. The director of Fallout 76 was Jeff Gardiner. Not Todd Howard. That's just a fact. Fallout 76 has an entirely different vision behind it compared to anything Todd Howard had ever done. So what does Fallout 76 tell us about Starfield? Not a damn thing.

It tells us to be cautious about overhyping a game that has had zero hands on gameplay released a week before it comes out, which is what happened to Fallout 76 as well, a decision that was most likely made by the higher up's in Bethesda

I don't like all that hype...

I see all kinds of separate threads jumping around with stupid questions, like:
  • "Where do you plan on playing Starfield".
  • "What other games will you play while playing Starfield"
  • "What will your name your Ship in Starfield".
  • "What will you breath in Starfield"
  • "What will you listen to while playing Starfield".
  • "How much coke will you do while playing Starfield".
  • "How many days will you lock your self in your room to play Starfield".
  • "How many millions of Dollars will you give for DLC bugs in Starfield".
  • "How much of your own farts will you smell in Starfield".
Ect....

It's never a good thing...

The most funny thing is thinking that the "A team" actually release less broken games than the "B team" :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Ok.....but being cautious due to "zero hands on gameplay" is a different and frankly, better argument than nothing more than pointing to Fallout 76.

Maybe it’s just me bc I haven’t been playing or following gaming news, bc honestly I feel like gaming is going thru a little dry spell atm . I’m not excited about much after I beat Diablo 4 but looking from the outside in .
I don’t see the hype this thread is talking about. All videos of starfield failed to get my attention. I honestly don’t even know the next big game that has my attention it has never felt like this.

lol, seems like there are a bunch of brazilians with fake impressions on Twitter to generate hype

Found another one named "CaxistaToxic" that means "Toxic Xbox Fan" in portuguese, saying that he is a journalist from Korea and the game is the best game ever

All of his other tweets are in portuguese, trolling PS and liking Starfield/Xbox related stuff

So let's be more careful with hype tweets, people

Apparently Bethesda even gave review codes for YouTubers with as low counts as 2000 followers? WTF
If true it’s nice to see a company being so liberal and open with the review process.

Let’s be honest though, it’s easy to be confident when you are shit hot and have a great product. And Todd Howard is shit hot and has a great product.

I think I’m getting more confident as release approaches that this will be 94 MC when all is said and done.

So here's a fun story actually. I've met Todd Howard of Bethesda. I actually used to see him somewhat frequently as it is my job to restock the vending machines at their Maryland studio. For some reason I was the only one allowed restocked those machines, as according to Todd I was the only one who could put the items in an arrangement that he liked (which is odd considering that I literally just put them in the same order as everyone who came before me, it's not like we have much of a choice in its arrangement). Anyway, one day I was running late for work and in my hurry I put on a pair of N7 novelty socks. Later that day as I was stocking the highest bit of the soda vending machine, I felt a damp breath on the back of my neck. When I turned around Todd Howard himself was standing only a couple of inches away from me. Before I had time to question him he asked "Mass Effect socks huh? Do you like space games?" His breath smelled like a concoction of garlic, coffee, and breath mints.

"Ye-yes Mr. Howard sir", I replied back.

"While come with me, I'll show you a game we've been working on that I think you'll like".

I followed him to his office. Upon entering it, I noticed that the walls were completely covered with pictures of Skyrim box art for a variety of different systems, most of which were ones that it had never been released on. After a few moments of messing with his computer, a large grin spread across Todd's face. He beckoned me over to his computer and told me that I could do anything I wanted. My mind instantly thought that he had pulled up the much rumored Starfield, but when I got to his computer screen all I saw was an image of Todd sitting in a chair, staring seductively at whoever took that picture, with both of his hands on his crouch. He began laughing manically, and out of fear I ran away from him and out of that building. Once I was outside, I noticed a somewhat large box with a parachute slowly drifting down in my direction. Once it landed I saw that written on the very top in all caps was a message saying that the box was for me. When I opened it up I saw that there was a Nintendo Switch with a custom decal of Todd Howard's eyes, and surrounding this switch was every single version of Skyrim that has been released. I looked up, and saw Todd in his office window, with a large rock in his hands. He simply smiled at me and dropped the rock, hitting me right in the head and giving me a severe concussion along with many other head injuries.

I've been in the hospital for the last two weeks on account of that day, unsure as to whether or not I'll have that job to return to when I get out. Earlier today Pete Hines visited me, and gave me a Fallout themed check for $111,111 in order to pay for all of my hospital bills and any complications that may arise. He apologized for what Todd did, saying that "Our special little boy just shows his affection in strange ways. All of us at Bethesda have been trying to teach him how to properly socially interact, but progress has been slow". Before he left, he gave me the same box that had been airdropped to me on that fateful day, saying that Todd wanted me to have it. Once he left I decided to open the box. It had all the same things in it as when I first opened it, but with one addition: sitting on the very top was a cutout of Todd's face, staring into my soul and begging me to get lost in his enchanting, beautiful eyes.

The game will easily sell 20m copies on Steam over time. Xbox sales will be dismal.

The bragging from the Xbox fans in this thread, as though Xbox have had any positive contribution to this game, is laughable.
To get technical, Xbox is getting the game to pc users cheaper via game pass. You’re thinking is outdated if when you think of Xbox, you think of a console.

What does that have to do with what I said?
Xbox fans should be bragging about how Starfield is getting in more hands, and even at a cheaper price. While some might have waited, Xbox game pass will have people playing it earlier.

Maybe I misunderstood what Xbox fans are “bragging” about.

Just received an email that they have send out my Steam key for Starfield. If you purchased the game from Fanatical, do check your mail or go to Fanatical to find your key

I am really excited about it, but I do not know anyone else who is. Even bringing up the game amongst other gamers I get people asking what game I am talking about or they just are just not interested in it.

Personally I've seen very little marketing. And literally no word of mouth over here. I don't think there is a whole lot of hype or awareness for this game outside the very loud minority on socials. Two weeks away from release ... hmm. I don't know what to think of it.

It aint that massive. I work with some hardcore nerds that all play games and none of them have mentioned it. One of them in particular is currently balls deep in CP2077. If anyone wouldve brought it up it wouldve been him. So far zippo.

Remember people: having the key is one thing. I had instances where my key copy would unlock to play later than Steam retail because it was a different SKU in their database and someone forgot to flip the switch. I hope it won’t be the case with Starfield.

Why did Bethesda give everyone, including people that aren't affiliated with a publication, a review code? Then they complained about leaks? Why are they giving it to everyone and their mother lol

Like why did Ben Starr also get one lol
