Didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I received my Limited Edition 30th Anni Dualsense in the mail today from Best Buy. I can't overstate how little effort Sony put into this considering it's a 30th anniversary limited edition collector's item.
No thank you card for being a PS fan for 30 years, no limited edition count card, no sticker, no USB-C cable, not even a piece of paper with a photocopied Jim Ryan's ass. I haven't purchased a Dualsense in a long time, but I'd imagine the packaging and contents are exactly the same as an off-the-shelf standard white controller. It didn't even have the latest controller firmware installed, so I had to update it upon connecting it the first time.
Now I will be fair, there was never any mention of any of these things or expectation that Sony HAD to do anything above the minimum, but for something that should have meant SOMETHING to Sony, you can't help but feel like they really don't give a shit. This also isn't some $29.99 Mad Catz shitter, the damn thing was 80 bucks + tax.
Now please stay tuned for my part 2 review in a few months when we talk about whether it has that PS5 patented Stick Drift™ that all of my other Dualsenses have.
- Packaging was kinda rough, could have been a Best Buy issue.
- "Seal" sticker was just a generic clear plastic sticker. Mine was off-center so I didn't even need to fuss with it to get the box open. (I am not keeping this to resell or as an unboxed collector's item, but still worth mentioning).
- Included in box was just the controller, the pack-in manual, a styro-plastic generic protective bag for the controller (just standard gray, not special print for 30th Anni or anything)
