If you enjoy 40+ year old men getting into spats with each other and mods that act like the worst HOA jobsworths. It was great, often hilarious until it became group owned cooperate with a " Committee".

This is the only gaming forum now, period. All of the others have shut down. Internet forums are more dead than David Bowie. Virtually all gaming discussion has moved to Reddit, Discord, 4chan, etc.

I used to visit that forum, it started out of the closing of the EDGE magazine forum. I was in the first batch of members, not been on it in years though, as the place filled up with the usual self righteous lefty cunts as the years went by, Jeremy Corbyn worshippers and the rest.

Very true. Just the other day, on Gamefaqs, some crazy person made a thread about Ravens "beating the fuck out of the Chiefs" and they were just melting down since the opposite happened. Well all I said was "mental health is important" and was moderated for it as "abusive behavior" lol.

I did like the forum but as the lefties moved in, differing opinions became less and less tolerated, with forum members piling in and basically mocking people into submission/silence.

And then they went woke, which was hilarious as they memory holed and bleached the forums history "We never joked that SA and rape where funny" when people actually had admitted to doing those things. They order 66'd character and comedy posters that they had fostered and encouraged since the Edge days. That and being incredibly hostile to new members.

I didn't know what that was so I checked it, read the Astro bot thread and it's full of people saying don't be mean to Chris Dring over inflating it's sales. So If they are that soppy I can see with Musk and Trump would get you gone.

Wow, that is exactly how I feel about Reddit nowadays. You can be banned in one sub for having made a comment in another. You can get shadowbanned in a sub despite following the rules and when you ask for clarification the mods either ignore you or mute you. I'm basically looking through my posts once a week to see if I've been shadowbanned somewhere. That site gives me the same feeling I get from people who force me to walk on eggshells around them. It's also weird how humourless the people there are compared to other sites I've been on, they are always very close to anger and hostility. I used to be a member of many subs, but now I'm only somewhat active on two or three and I'm thinking about just pulling the plug.

Never heard of that before but I guess Neogaf would be the only good gaming site left. Gamefaqs used to be alright when I joined that a few years ago. Do it. Being an active member of reddit is not worth it. Just use it as a tourist for the odd thing that somehow isn't covered by a dedicated forum.

That's how I use Reddit too, just as a tourist. Even if the site becomes more sane, I still don't like the posting/comment layout. The big three gaming forums that are the most populated not including Reddit and Steam are Neogaf, Gamefaqs, and Resetera.
Neogaf is by far the best and wish I came here much sooner. Gamefaqs used to be good years back but not anymore. Still better than Era. And of course Resetera is by far the worse with the most insane and wrong takes but they do have more traffic which is the only thing good about it and why I have a account there too.

It is. I wouldn’t even know where to go if this place shut down. Reddit sucks, Ree is trash, I don’t like Discord, don’t even know anywhere else. I did use gamefaqs a long time ago. Where else is there?

For sure we have our own issues, but when I see what else is out there... MFers get banned for sweating in the wrong direction, on multiple forums, it's no wonder why this place has grown in activity, while others are on the decline. A refreshing situation, to say the least.

It just pisses me off that reddit has become the only source for technical answers regarding games or gaming/PC hardware. It's so big over there now that one is always guaranteed to find other people who have posted about the same issues and found fixes. I hate that it is reddit that is still the go-to for that kind of thing, and I don't see how it could be diminished over time.

You can have a discussion and have fun trolling video game issues. As long as you dont do dumb shit like:
- Spam
- Insult people (getting into childish personal beefs against others)
- Overboard on politics or dumb topics
- Major console warrior
- Drive by troller
There might be some other hot topics, but as long as you avoid this stuff, you'll have no issues.

GAF mods got annoying later. I don't know if most just never came back. But one on a power trip was that crazy RPG site writer or something like they disagreed with every damn post and opinion.
Era can be fine on pure news basis. but is obviously manged mlronically in an echo chamber of foolishness so discussions are maximum suppressed. Ironic.

Yep! Got temp banned from the other place 3 times, for liking the games Witchfire and Kingdom Come: Deliverance. I just wanted to discuss the games and was informed that the developers were problematic.
One even said that the persecution of witches was control over women.
Me - What? I'm just talking about the game man.....but if you want to go down this route...there are no female witches or female enemies in the game as of yet.
Historically more men in Scotland (where I am from) and other Scandinavian countries were executed as witches than women, and 90% of accusations against women being witches were by other women. Nothing but facts.
