Not to join in with everyone else jumping on this post, but seriously, what a terrible bunch of "arguments."

Lots of those are AAA titles, including NBA 2K14.

Lots of people play sports games. But even if literally one person on the planet did, it doesn't change the fact that NBA 2K14 scored what it scored.

TitanFall is cross gen, just like Tomb Raider.

I was impressed by Ryse (on a technical level), Forza (even with the downgrades), and Killzone: ShadowFall. Opinions are odd like that, I know.

It's really not a matter of moving the goal post. BF4 was reviewed well but not well received at all.. Look at the metacritic for the PC version. TR is last gen. Period. No debating that.

So let me reiterate. I'm speaking of games that were highly anticipated non-ported and designed with next-gen in mind. For example, Thief, or Ryse, or Dead Rising 3, or KZ:SF.. Pros: you can pick it up like any other fps but thanks to the Titans and wall running the game has an identity of its own; great art designs, a very good starting point for the franchise

A game doesn't need to be AAA to be a true next-gen title. It does not need to be AAA to be amazing and it does not need to be AAA to be the best game on the system for all it matters. Similarly, I play sports games. Millions of people play sports games. MLB: The Show for PS4 is one of my most anticipated games of the year. It's one of the more popular genres on the market. Who plays sports games?

Titanfall is a cross gen game on 360 (last gen), Xbox One and PC. The only games meant specifically for next-gen ONLY so far that have hit close to the 85 mark are Resogun and NBA2k14, and Nintendo's stable of first party exclusives for Wii U. Yes, Wii U is next-gen . I'm just pointing out the line in the sand you made is wrong.

So getting mods would make it worth $60? My argument was that I would've gladly paid the same price I did for HL just to play CS. CS had no perks or customization, but provided me with hours of entertainment (the only factor I use to determine whether a game is worth my purchase).

I think the point was that HL had the ability for players to craft content like CS which was a community generated mod to start with if memory serves. Those were the days though. We played tons of player created modes and maps that only cost the game.

I think that has to do with the fact that different sites review the different versions of the game. So some Xbox-only site may have given the Xbox One version of the game a 95, while a PS-only site gave the PS4 version a 90. That would affect each version's average.

Okay, first of all Titanfall has reviewed well.... but how well has it been received? We don't know yet because the game is only just launching! You can't call it a victory and dismiss Battelfield 4 because for all we know there will be major issues with Titanfall not reflected in these reviews.

A game like Battlefield 4 was very much designed with next gen in mind. I could understand if you were talking about "true" next gen exclusives... but Titanfall doesn't even fit into that category!

It's not just Tomb Raider; basically every single multi-plat game scores lower on PS4. Obviously it doesn't mean anything to us, but I wonder if any people are fooled into thinking the XB1 versions are superior. Ironic considering the PS4 versions are actually superior.

After playing the beta I knew this game would review well. I predicted a score of around 9, with some reviewers complaining about the lack of a single player campaign.
The multi-player is what makes this game great and will probably account for more play time than an 8 hour campaign ever would.

The reason publishers have been gunning so hard to inflate metacritic scores is that some time ago they noticed a strong correlation between high review aggregates and high sales. Since everybody knows that all correlations MUST BE causal it logically lead to the truthfact that you inflate the review scores = you inflate the sales. What I think would be interesting is a graph correlating review score to sales figures over time. If the graph has a downward arc then it would be, at the least, amusing.

I agree that next gen has been off to a slow start, but we haven't seen a true day 1 killer app since Halo on the original Xbox (or Wii Sports maybe).

I've never played either game, but if things are exactly as you state for each, but TitanFall is just more fun than InFamous, I would certainly hope it'd be scored higher.
