Titanfall Review Thread

That's a pretty weak argument. Zampelli is comparing all gamers who played the game. And you are using a very selective sample of achievement minded gamers who use a particular website.

That comparison is bullshit.

Or does raptr have access to all achievements by all players that played the game regardless if they've ever used the site?
Ok tell you what, if you have a better way to track it you let me know. Until then my numbers are the best we have. Theres no site that tracks all achievements and of course there's no way to track achievements of offline gamers (who I would argue are probably more likely to play the campaign).

I think his 5% is the bullshit here, personally.

One last note of discussion, but why are games the only media the fans care so much about review scores. If you didn't make the game, and enjoy it then post some impressions. Who cares if IGN has a different view.

I've never played either game, but if things are exactly as you state for each, but TitanFall is just more fun than InFamous, I would certainly hope it'd be scored higher.

I don't mind reviewers scoring TF higher than any other Sony exclusive, its just the amount of nitpicking that magically appear while reviewing Sony games. just wait and see how every technical aspect will be emphasized, nitpicked and blown out of proportion. mark this post for future reference.

Notice how almost all reviewers are brushing aside all these technical details while reviewing TF.

lets just wait and see.

his number doesn't even take into account the people that never play the game online. and seeing as 40% to 50% of 360s never connect to live could be a lot.

Based on a lot of the video reviews I'm seeing, I think having the visuals downplayed as they've been has pushed it to a point where I think the game looks pretty darned acceptable.

There is a better way -- PS4 trophy data straight from the console.

Approximately 35% of people that played Ghosts finished it last time I checked, and it was roughly equivalent to other single player games.

I like how he completely disregards all the positives. Good stuff.

Well, sometimes people do that when they are very biased.

They even see imaginary framerate differences between two versions, for example.

For the PS4 trophies I see that 25.1% of people got the "The Ghost Killer" Trophy for COD:Ghost PS4 ed.

Reviewers largest weight on their review is whether the game is a new experience. Sony 1st party games have not been the most unique for years. Look at Journey score compared to Resistance 3.

because review scores have been known to manipulate consumer buying. and can either create or destroy a game and possibly a gaming community. if this game was bashed by reviews less would have bought it and it wouldn't have near as large a community and might not have a sequel. reviews can go a long way to making games and breaking them too.

Goddamn. Ether.

I love how that Canadian paper review is the lowest review score on the meta, and someone said that they're probably the only site not bought with the hype.. or whatever it was. Lmao. TF is really rattling some cages.

My cage will be rattled when I go DD on the game and it takes 12 hours to complete at midnight!

I love that you and question the credibility of one of the biggest publications in Canada that's been around for over a century because they didn't give a score that you liked, while you have no issue with Polygon. Who btw was just $750,000 pile of cash in MS bank account a couple years ago. That doesn't matter, because you liked their score.

I only see one cage rattled.

Game is fun, I love moving about, and titans are cool.
But it is very light on content, and if I hadn't gotten it cheaper via a mexican VPN I would be dissapointed.

7/10, a fun game, but it might get stale.

Not a single 7? Really? For a game like CoD with slightly new things. I find that so hard to believe that no journalist felt the wave of apathy that washed over me in the few hours I spent playing the beta.

It's midnighter20c. Check his post history and be enlightened with all the drive by trolling. It's almost like a passion for him.

MS doesn't do preloading?

That not having single player did not affect these scores at at hence why they are so inflated or that these reviewers are judging this game solely on multiplayer because single player is really a tutorial for COD's and Battlefield-esque games. Mid you this game to me would have been epic had there been single plater and not a light story tacked on multiplayer the way Brink did.

Reviews have the same effect on other media also. On top of that I don't want sequels.

Only read the last two pages, somehow this thread ended up better than the Gears 2 review thread in 08 and the Virtua Fighter 5 review thread in 07. Scores are about where I expected, game looks fun with a bit of room for improvement in a sequel (I never had time to play my beta copy for PC).

Agreed. It's a little on the plain side, but the art direction is good and the overall look is cohesive. I didn't think it was a bad looking game at all based on my time with the PC beta, apart from a few fugly textures.

EDIT: Good night, foul prince.

Reviews have the same effect on other media also. On top of that I don't want sequels.

not nearly as much as they do for games. look at action movie reviews and how they do at box office. they usually bomb at reviews but rake in at the box office. yet very few games have ever bombed critically and still done well financially.

Thats quite an unfair comparison as you are comparing a gameplay which is proven fun to almost all to a gameplay which is fun for a decent amount of people

How can the game be sub-HD if it's above the HD standard (720p) ? Also, is Second Son already out? I mean, your reviews sounds really positive, so it must be.

This is such a bad post. Let's go deeper.

Titanfall

-Sub HD

You clearly have no idea what "sub HD" is or where the line for HD is drawn. HD resolutions are 720p or higher. Titanfall is 792p, a whopping 72 lines above 720p.

People have described it as a blast to play anyway.

- Multiplayer only

Again, why is this a problem if it's described as lots of fun? Most people I know didn't even touch BF4's campaign.

-Massive fps drops.

At least the devs attempted to get it at 60fps vs 30.

Funny how 3 of the 4 things you used to describe Second Son pertain to it's graphics. It will be a great game, but you obviously can't tell why.

- good AI

Not that's it's game breaking, but some impressions are saying the AI is dumb. Why don't you pay the Infamous thread a visit some time?

...

This has to be the most stress-inducing post I've ever put my eyes on. I refuse to believe that you're serious. May God have mercy on your soul.

any reviewers complain about no SP but the game still costing $60?

If it would of been COD with mechs, I wouldn't buy it. Having played the beta I don't think I've enjoyed a FPS multiplayer more than this, in terms of gameplay it felt a hell of lot more enjoyable than my experiences with the COD series.

People are melting down and calling bias on the reviews when the average is only 87%? Really?

It's not like the game is being showered with perfect scores or anything.
