I mean, the average single by the average artist is just throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. If there's a DJ with the style you like, maybe he/she has already done all the work for you.

Need some help. I think I'm into progressive trance, if that's what I'm thinking of. Is progressive the genre where there's a "build up" that leads to a "climax"? I also like deep trance/house, specifically the type that Japanese DJ's produce. Anyone got some recommendations based on this? I'll provide two recent favorites for reference.

KIWAMU - Rest (Act 2)
LTN - Another Side Of You (Andre Sobota Remix)

Do the songs I posted even qualify as trance? Are they house? All these years and I still have no clue what the difference is.

Been a busy few weeks for me.
Was at Trancecoda at the start of the month for Pure Trance. That makes it maybe near a dozen times ive seen Solarstone in the last year or so. Bit of a stalking obsessive.
Chatting away with his manager again, i ended up behind the booth for a little while.
And, after a wait of a couple of years, i finally saw Gai Barone play. Absolutely wonderful. I nearly melted when he played Eve.

The following week was the Royal Albert Hall for Above & Beyond Acoustic. It immediately became one of my favourite shows ever. Absolutely phenomenal couple of hours, and i was on such a high afterwards. Third row, too! And as it was part of the hospitality package, i received a large A&B print, signed by the guys.
Justine Suissa has always been one of my favourite vocalists, so to finally hear her sing was truly amazing.

Well, as expected, the weekend broke me.
2 nights at Godskitchen The Last Dance. And it was incredible. So many amazing people, so much good music.
Saw a massive number of sets: Steve Arnold, Jon o'Bir, Super 8 & Tab, Solarstone, Eddie Halliwell, Airwave, Tall Paul, Guy Ornadel, Aly & Fila, The Thrillseekers, and whoever else i dipped in and out of!
Sad to see GK go, as its been something ie grown up with, but this weekend was an amazing send off. Some of my photos...

Above and Beyond was by paying lots of hospitality as I really wanted to go!

As for the backstage stuff, a combination of right place right time, incessantly bothering Solarstone on Twitter, and chatting to DJS, promoters etc. The Pure Trance tattoo on my arm earned me some points, too!

I didn't recognize it, but checking the YT comments I found the track:

Veerus, Maxie Devine - My Train

I think the strings just sound familiar because it's a common patch and the chord progression is similar to a lot of other tracks, but I could be wrong. Google the track and check the comments and you might find out where it came from. I remember finding three tracks with the same sample from a random discogs comment once :p

I posted in the OT thread about bad live experiences with bands, but mine was about a DJ. Thought there might be some interesting stories in here too.

Not a band, but I saw Sean Tyas play a DJ set once where he was so drunk (and probably pinging) that he was just mashing at the mixer.

He got through about 3 or 4 songs, stopping and restarting them accidentally a few times each, getting effects stuck on and looping stuff out of time, before the promoter dragged him off stage and got the next DJ on.

It sucks because I love some of his tracks and was really looking forward to seeing him.

Sucks, because otherwise it should have been a nice set. I'ts fucking irresponsible to show drunk before a gig. Atleast wait till you're done!

This was about 7 years ago though and he seems to have gotten much more professional since then.

Nope! I've seen GO twice I think, but not 2.0 yet. I have not seen solar stone ever so that should be awesome. They only play PureNRG stuff is that right? Can't wait to hear every other way, my goddamn favorite trance song

Whilst it may not have been truly 'bad', last time i saw Kearney it was just endless, relentless psy and tech for 2 hours with no let up or variation. It was exhausting.

I went to the other room to see Scott Bond play for 3 hours instead. He was amazing.

I have been listening to this genre of music since 2012 and I still feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content there is out there. I am still discovering classic tracks all the time. Last week for example was the first time I heard Veracocha - Carte Blanche and Gouryella - Gouryella. I also listened to the Title track to Alex morphs upcoming album. Alex M.O.R.P.H. - Not All Superheroes Wear Capes" It has a really good sound to it, I'm looking forward to the album.

Alex Morph's recent tracks have been rather good. He used to use the same kind of sound (I don't know the correct terms sorry) in most of his tracks but the recent ones have been more melodic.

Yeah Ferry Corsten is one of those artists I need to get into more I knew I have heard a decent amount of his work. The one I remember catching me the most was Sublime, I love that song.

I've listened to a decent amount of Armin, since ASOT was my gateway show for getting into Trance. However I don't think I have heard anything outside of his studio albums. So I will need to look into his older works.
