I'm probably just talking out of my butt here, but I feel this is just how things would be no matter what. a lot of the girls who joined HoloLive back then probably was not really thinking they'll become this huge multi-million follower focus of spot light, and Cover had not really focused on the whole idol thing back when they were recruited. so now, they're sudden saddled with the responsibilities and the attention from millions of fans, and keep in mind they're probably still relatively young, maybe in their mid to late 20s right now, so this could be a real burden for them if they weren't into the whole idol dream. Cover had been very tolerating in terms of giving them freedom to try new stuff and taking long time offs, so I don't think the issue is really with Cover itself. it really feels to me one of those "this was more than what I had signed up for and I don't want it any more." type of situation, at least with Gura, Ame and maybe Fauna. maybe they just want to have a small channel and stream some cozy games or chitchat with a small group of fans rather than traveling to Japan frequently to rehearse for big performances. the later gen girls had probably joined with some degree of ambition and clear goal and we likely won't see they graduating that easily. and again, like a few of the girls had said themselves, including Shion, Matsuri and Mori, the whole "difference in direction" is basically a catch-all PR term the company wanted them to say and it really doesn't mean much one way or the other. in the end, we the fans can only express our support to the bitter end. even real life idols would retire after all so this is just part of the deal. like Matsuri had once said, "support your oshi when you can, because you never know when you won't be able to any more."
