Warframe |OT| Ninjas Play Free - PS4

Cool. I think I have seen that symbol on Captain Vor's node. I think I am at Venus right now so will probably run into the Jackal soon. I don't need no Rhino frame though. Loki suits me just fine.

I think I am actually hooked on this game 'cause I'm really itching to play it right now but at work :-(.

You don't need it for sure. I am just trying to make sure I have a support, AOE and a tanky frame. That way I am good until there are prime versions of those :p

Depends on what you're fighting I guess. I wouldn't say there are many 'best in slot' weapons anymore.

hmm.. thats actualy good news so you can just take what you like kinda style.

from what i've been seeing now it looks more like the mods make the weapon and not the other way around.

thx :)

So what patch level is the PS4 on? 11.0 or more?

Also, how does the trading post work and where is it? Only in the dojo?

Does anyone know what a decent rifle and pistol is for Loki?

as someone has already said, a "best weapons" is kind of non-existent since damage 2.0, but early on i found boltor and kunai good primary and secondary for both grineer and infestation. and i got the duel zoren quite early which i found pretty good too. that's what i used for my loki anyway, but that was predominantly damage 1.0 where things where quite a bit different. now you really need specific weapons for specific situations.

Ah thx, so you kinda need to have a weapon for each kind.

another noob question and maybe others are wondering the same thing.

If you wanna level up weapons does it go faster when you only use that specific weapon for a mission?

everything ranks up based on use, yes.

Guys stupid question, I have a guy on my friends list who wants to know the exact name of our ps4 clan... I can't find it ingame lol.. is it NeoFrame?

Yeah I am getting a lot of mileage out of decoy(!) and invisibility so I'm pretty happy with my choice of frame for now. We'll see how things go. Think I'm pretty far off being able to assemble a new frame anyway.

Got my Rhino systems drop first try last night and got started construction on him today. I'm excited.

I did end up picking up a Nova too w/ some platinum. The amount of time i've gotten out of the game i was happy to drop a bit of coin. Super fun to play so far, excited to build her up.

Not sure what'll suit her for a primary weapon. Just using the starter rifle, and i have a Boltor building that i'll play around with.

Also i should have my network issues fixed so hopefully playing with Gaffers won't be a frustrating task anymore (and when i say fixed, i mean i'm just using a crap old router).

I am having a lot of fun with this. My son ended up downloading the pc version since he does not have a ps4, and even on his really old weak pc, the load times are 2 or 3 seconds. Why are the load times so bad on the ps4?

The PS4 stock harddrive is pretty slow. It might also be connecting to other players which depending on network connections could be adding to the "load" time.

It just seems the game has some really poor optimization and netcode, the ps4 version is technically in beta. I'm really hoping we get a patch focusing on optimization soon.

PS4 version badly needs the 11.3 Update which PC players have:

Network Bandwidth Optimizations are here!

Clients are now sending half the data they used do. Host outgoing bandwidth has been reduced by 30-40%. These changes help with bandwidth CPU time for hosts!

But I doubt we will see an update before 11.5.

I already have 53 hours logged, this game has me by the balls right now. Got Frost Prime in the oven, starting the rocket launcher now. Finally built up my Rhino, love seeing 9k crits on ancients. just gotta get some of the mods from nightmare mode.

So, I get the 150 platinum from the free pack should I save it and wait till I get more platinum ingame or use it on the dual katana

You cannot earn platinum in game. And weapons can be made in game. If you spend Platinum, I would spend it on cosmetic items or slots for more warframes/weapons and such.

I second this. Orokin Reactors or Catalysts might also be a good idea down the line.

Guess I will buy the drone and a cape, why MAG is 175 platinum =(

I want her so bad

While i agree with the other replies, i will add that a friend wasn't enjoying the game until he dropped a bit of coin (i think he spent $20?) on a warframe/weapon he enjoyed a lot more than the starters and is now really into it. Once you have something fun to play its easy to progress to the point where you feel like you build anything you want.

Are you cheap? If so, do what others have said and save for Orokin Catalysts/Reactors and Warframe/weapon slots. If not, get a decent weapon and maybe 3 day affinity booster. Just know that eventually you're gonna need plat for Catalysts, Reactors and slots... so keep that in mind.

Im pretty late too the party with this game as only recently downloaded it and playing it, Seems a really cool game in truth but quite difficult to adjust to it all.

Oh my god I want to fucking play Warframe with you guys, Account Migration can't come soon enough!

It's been really cool watching this thread and seeing you all learn the game, though, I have to admit. Y'all done grown up.

I'd like to get a good melee weapon, maybe via all that fancy clan research we have. . . I'm thinking Prova or maybe Gram - anyone have particular recommendations?

I want something to ween myself away from the Galatine for awhile and my Glaive just isn't cutting it (hehe).

Prova's not that great. I built it for mastery rank but am having trouble even staying motivated to level it to 30. It's pretty good against Corpus, but the "swing zone" is just so tiny compared to the Galatine. It really does feel like a police riot stick.

Orthos (Orthos Prime) is pretty solid if you haven't done it yet. It's basically the opposite of the Galatine because all of its damage comes from normal attacks rather than charge. It's pretty fun to play.

Stay away from Gram if you're wanting to ween off the Galatine. Gram is basically a Galatine with shittier damage. :p

Isn't this pay-to-win though? I've never really played a free-to-play game before and it would be the easiest thing in the world to open my wallet, buy a fancy weapon and just blaze through. But that doesn't feel good for me. That's pay-to-win. I guess if it works for your friend then that's cool.

Try Warframe it's free and certainly not pay2win. I only paid for cosmetics so far. You just pay for weapons which you could get for free if you simply play the game and progress. Buying stuff is nothing more than a shortcut.

Th term Pay 2 Win is normally used if people who spend money gain an advantage over normal players. That is not really the case in this game since you can achieve all the same stuff without spending a dime. It might take you longer, but since it's a coop game it doesn't matter anyway.

Now if this really was a competitive game and you can buy all this stuff, then we would have an issue.

You can view it that way, sure. Its not how i approached the game, but the starting offers are a bit limited and i can see having a lot more fun not with a weapon or warframe that is necessarily stronger, but just something that fits your play style and enjoyment more.

I plucked in 30 hours before dropping cash on Nova, and thats because i felt the game had easily given me enough entertainment to put in a bit of cash and support the game. Though i don't see myself spending that much again just smaller amounts on materials/potatoes/forma etc.

This is what I heard too, but after reading around some, its not really the case. Which is why I want to give it a good earnest try.

It is just so overwhelming.

y'all should be ashamed
When hosting a game or even playing solo, my framerate is around 15-20fps. However joining a match results in a smooth 60fps. I have super fast internet so is this a NAT problem or something?

Look above at what part of the 11.3 PC update was. I expect we will see something similar on PS4 soon.

Yes, I am playing it. I was referring to the post I was quoting which was about buying new guns in game with real cash.

Yeah I guess it's not competitive so why should I worry? Each to their own...

Yes, I have been playing it and it is awesome. You should definitely try it.

Buying weapons and Warframes doesn't really do much for you though, honestly. It's the mods that make you powerful and you can't buy those from the Market. I suppose you could try and "trade" platinum for them with other players now, but that's not exactly a sure bet and it'd be a huge hassle to troll trade chat for hours just to hunt down what you need. You'd also have to know what you need. ;-)

My point here is that there's no real way for a new player to "pay-to-win" in Warframe. Buying a weapon will only help you out in the early stages of the game. That's why everyone praises Warframe's f2p model -- you're really only paying for convenience. You have to actually play the game (and quite a bit of it) to attain any reasonable level of power.

Thanks!

I had considered Orthos, but I have a few of the prime parts so I was kind of thinking of holding out until I got more. . . I suppose I can get mastery points for both so there's no down side to just going ahead and building the non-prime version to tide me over.

Even if you bought mods, you'd still need to level up the weapon and frame in order to access the points, so trading wouldn't really circumvent having to play to win.

The reactors and catalysts are more guilty of being pay to win. . . the blueprints don't get offered up very often, and doubling the available mod points is huge. At a buck a pop, I see them as kind of a tax of sorts, but even then the game still delivers tremendous value for time.

I wouldn't even call that pay-to-win, that's just the "price" of the game. I think it's brilliant because you won't need more potatoes unless you've played a shitload, and then again when you've played a shitload more. Instead of charging you $20 up front the game spaces the charges out, so if you don't play all that much you won't need to pay all that much either. The more you play the more you'll probably want to throw in a few bucks every now and then for potatoes. It's basically an "opt-in" subscription; only the people who play the most will need to continue paying in the future. It's perfect.
