I’ve been working on my first custodes models. They are bigger than I expected. I should have used my knife better to clean them up though.

Been building my vertus praetors over the last couple nights and they pretty tough builds. Not on a whole, but there a couple parts, the spear and sword are tough ones to get in just the right position.

Very fun though!

Oh man, they look super detailed. Can't wait for you to post them painted.

I played an OPR match with my complete army and a squad of "Blessed Sisters" bikers.

I had a blast, finally won my first match. I really need to get back to painting, cause all my figs were just primed and the Rhino was not yet fully assembled (painting the interior first). Didn't look nice compared to my pals Chaos army.

They are rather detailed. They will probably be a real stretch for my current skill level too which is nice.

Congrats on the win! How long did it take and how close was it?

Used my hockey pool winnings to buy me some new stuff. Finally got my nuns with guns combat patrol.

But, it seems a bit odd to me. I bought one that has 26 minis, it has a rhino and a penitent engine but when I look online at the set it has 27 minis but no talk and no penitent engine. Is there two versions?

They release new versions every few years.

The new combat patrol for 10th edition was released in May.

It looks like you've bought the older version that was released with 9th edition.

That's the Battleforce, it's a separate thing. Both it and the combat patrol Trogdor bought are available on the site.
The combat patrol that included a rhino and a penitent engine is 3 or 4 years old, it's been replaced by the one without vehicles a couple of months ago I think?

I see that now. Wonder if I should return it. I kinda like the tank and penitent though…

It was marked at the old prices and 20% off still. Hmmm

Depends how you want your army to be setup. I'd guess the points value is similar and all the minis are still legal.

Started painting my Preators last night. They are great fun. I tried to upload a pic of them so far but it’s too big I think?

Got some time in last night on the custodes. These are a super fun one for those interested. I have lots still to do on them but I got the second coat done and added some red. I’ll get more details added tonight or tomorrow.

I think it is my best work yet. I’m not overly skilled but I can definitely see my progress

Finally finished my Vertus Praetors. For from perfect but excellent fun that I highly recommend to anyone sitting on the fence with them. They look much darker in person. I need to work on getting power blades to look more… powerful. One thing I didn’t care for on them was the bases. The clear bases have a hole for the mount but the black ones don’t so you would need to cut and glue it in of drill a hole. I just used the clears as they looked nicer anyways imo.

The free one for July got shown too. Looks like a fun one to play around with.

I started my Sororitas the other day (models are amazing fyi) and got to the tank. It has an inside section to paint. My first thoughts are to do it first and then build around that. I assume it would just be too awkward to do the other way?

Finally got some time put aside to start my Sororitas.

They are way more detailed than what I have worked on before so it’s been fun so far.

Ignore the work space being filthy please

Combat patrol is in Morrisons. £2.99 they are.

Yeah, the new Hachette Partworks mag. The next one is in 2 weeks, it'll be £6.99, then it becomes a weekly £9.99 mag. Issue 5 has a new, unique space marine too FYI.

You can also subscribe and for £2 more, you can get a premium bundle where you get a few extra bits & pieces.

I had to buy 2 of the first issue as the battle/game map was ripped in the first. Cant grumble for £2.99 though. I picked it up in WHSmith. If you have a Forbidden Planet nearby, they sell it (And older issues, when there is some) for a little less than RRP.

Do they sell those copies usually in supermarkets as well? I don't expect them to carry the whole line of like 100 issues, but maybe to like issue 4 or 5 or something?

But yeah, I picked up 2 copies. First GW model in like 5 years. Dude looks like Gabriel Angelos so I'll prolly paint one as a blood raven.

I've not looked in any supermarkets but I might check out Morrisons or Tesco tomorrow to see if they also have them. I've seen the AoS version of this magazine many issues into the run in WHSmith, but the previous 40k mag (Imperium) seemed to cease being stocked at around 10. Hopefully this one will get a longer run as I intend to pick & choose which issue to get.

The models from the first few issues are from the Leviathan boxset so I'm going to paint each in a different chapter colour (Or actually, they'll just accumulate in my grey pile of shame). :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Edit -
August 28th 2024 - On this day you’ll be able to get your magazines online, in stores, probably including your local Warhammer Store among many supermarkets and stationers because Hachette want to push this hard in the early weeks. After that, it's select online Stores and partner shops only. Typically Forbidden Planet, WH Smiths and Asda along with a few convenience stores.

Fantastic overview of Warhammer 40k! The lore really sets the stage for the epic battles and endless creativity in the game. I love how it echoes the themes of eternal struggle and persistence, somewhat reminiscent of the messages in Surah Al-Kahf about perseverance and navigating trials. Personally, I enjoy narrative play the most as it allows for deep storytelling and immersive experiences. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s armies and projects!

Yeah there's the option to do a bit of kitbashing.

I'm glad its selling well (or it is in this area anyways), hopefully WHSmith will have a good long run of the mag.
