What didn't you like about the Switch 2?

Honestly? The Switch 2 didn't excite me, it seems like more of the same.
I don't see any reason for the masses who have the Switch to migrate, what I want to say is that the Switch was innovative, it quenched our thirst, like the Wii did with WiiU.
Today I prefer the SteamDeck or the other handheld PCs.

And you, what did you not like about the Switch 2 ?

To me the trailer just felt very by the numbers and kind of simplistic. Felt more like a trailer for a new SKU, like, say, the Switch OLED got, than an entirely new generation of Nintendo.

I’d have liked to see more sneak peaks of games, and not only 1st party titles. The dude playing Skyrim on a plane in the Switch 1 trailer was very memorable. Some kind of surprising third party title like that would’ve been nice.

But hey, I’ve been following the leaks religiously so there was no surprise factor at all for me.

With what little we know now, there's more to be critical of than to praise. We don't know what this thing is capable of and they haven't shown software, except for a pretty mediocre looking Mario Kart. I personally prefer smaller and lighter devices like the Switch Lite, so this bulky, heavy(?) hardware doesn't appeal to me. I was also hoping for a March/April/May release but it's looking like it will be during the summer at the earliest.

I quite like it, nice design and the games will likely be superb. But I'm not buying it, getting a 5080 instead.
Gonna need the Cuda cores for other stuff later...

For AI porn obviously! Not Switch 2 emulation. Dear lord, get your mind out of the gutter.

Mainly that they didn't show anything of what it can actually do. MK9 looks like it could run on the original Switch with zero issues.

What they did show was exactly as expected: A Switch but a tiny bit different.

Yeah, I don't get why people would need this. I've literally never heard of anyone wanting an iteratively more powerful system just to play new exclusive games on it. Ever.

Edit: Wait other than PS2, 3, 4 and 5. To be fair PS2 had DVD. Surely I can't be missing any other times this has happened? Hmm...

Honestly, minus software, it was pretty good. The kickstand looked a massive improvement, the form factor is good.

Probably joycons again, felt they could have been a bit more innovative with the control placement and I don't really like using them sideways.

Because they want to play the new games that aren't on the old console. Same as anyone who buys a new console.

Too early to judge. We got an announcement trailer, it was hardly a deep dive into features.
I think the mistake people make with Nintendo is expecting them to follow the standard video game rule book that MS and Sony tend to stick close too.
Nintendo have always done things their way, for good or bad.
Looking forward to learning more, the Switch did a lot for re-igniting my enjoyment of videogames.

I think the way that changes were presented is brilliant.

As for excitement, there was simply no way for Nintendo to excite me: I find it obvious that it is yet another iteration of underpowered, but quite portable console with unique games.

What I didn't like, is the Switch 2 was exactly what I expected it to be. Nintendo playing it safe for maximum profit. That's not what got Nintendo to where they are now. If all the major players play it safe for the sake of their shareholders, that's not good for the long term interests of this medium. The safe road leads to mediocrity, and mediocrity leads to disinterest.

Buttons instead of dpad on the left joycon. I understand why, but it would have been nice to have an official controller with one. I don’t use joycon with my Switch because they’re too small to be comfortable, and was hoping these larger ones would get more use.

I'm boring what I wanted was no joycons, just solid built in controls and proper dpad. None of the gimmicks. But from what I expected, I'm happy. Nintendo has their key franchises I like and that's all that matters really.

No analog triggers again, no good D-pad, the same poor ergonomics as the Switch, going back from OLED to LCD, MK9 looks too much like MK8, SoC 8nm, etc...
This.

Just give me a low priced home only console with a normal controller and I'll probably buy.

Joycons are shitty controllers, I hate the hybrid design, too. Couldn't care less about the remored mouse functions.

But, as you can tell, these were things I already hatee about the first Switch. They didn't change.

Also, hard to say without much info, but magnetic controllers could be less stable when fixed on the console that clicking ones.

No OLED screen on day 0
Despite minimal physical bezel, there was an awful amount of black borders/overscan in MK (perhaps only when playing NS1 games?)
Those joycon connectors (from the NS2 side) look easily breakable/wearable
Mouse feature looks as useless as HD Rumble. I hope this sensor can also enable light gun functionality, Ring Fit 2 and such

I am curious if the Joy-Cons feel more solid when attached this time around. I do not like the feel of the current Joy-Cons. Nothing was really revealed in the announcement.

“They had us in the first half, I’m not gonna lie.”

The trailer was boring to those of us that were in on every detail. Nothing to get excited about. The device itself looks to be constructed better with no gaps between the Joycons and the base.

I would have liked to see more actual gameplay but it’s too early to judge and refinement of a great idea makes perfect sense.

Not like they been changing the Xbox controller

No real rethink of the joycon ergonomics. Though them just being larger probably helps...

More generally just that the Switch 2 release seems to be slow-walked by Nintendo...don't really see why this couldn't launch last year.

The lcd screen. The bezels on the reveal trailer makes me believe it’s not an OLED. I’d love to be wrong.

The bigger joycons are welcomed but I’m not sure if they are big enough for my hands. Wish they were somehow thicker, more bulbous, like the Portal or Steamdeck hand grips.

Lastly, waiting 10 weeks to learn more about the release date, price, game lineup, ect sucks a bag of dicks. The video simply verified all the leaks and rumors we’ve been hearing for a while now. We need more leaks now because there is nothing to talk about until April.

Didn’t like that it’s not OLED.
Didn’t like the joycons

It should have basically been a larger solid body like the Lite. With an OLED and Hall Effect sticks. No one gives a shit about detachable sticks. And it’s an instant weakness.

I love my Lite.

Feels more like a switch pro than a whole new system. Actually it is just that. Maybe this was originally gonna be a mid gen refresh but Nintendo realised they could just call it switch 2 and be done with it for the next 7 years.

Agree totally. Crappy reveal. But that's a different opinion than

it seems like more of the same.

Why didn't we say this about PS4? We gave them accolades for conservatively doing the same thing.

I wish we had gotten Wii 2 before, because I wanted a better version of it before they moved on. Instead they reinvented the wheel again. I also wouldn't like the timeline where they skipped GC and went right to Wii. No N64 2. SNES wouldn't be a good skip either. N is blessing us with 2 to perfect the concept before moving on to the next crazy shit.

From what they have shown, it’s like a Switch Pro to me. A bit bigger with better graphics. Still getting one.
True which is why to me at least it is extremely important that the os/features and such have side things like the 3ds had. street pass, spot pass, puzzle pieces, or achievements etc. it cant just be nothingness like switch. I turn on switch and select game thats it. Its Boring and bland. Nothing holding me to the platform. No point for me to grab a switch 2 day one without those things or more deep stat tracking and unlocks in its games. Even steam is dominating with bonus features for its platform. These features are the future and switch 2 better have them. Or ill just keep playing every game on other platforms and gain trophies, steam cards etc.

Ergonomics.
This is a problem for me as well. The only PC handheld I've used that I didn't hate the ergonomics of is the ROG Ally because it's not fucking huge. I get the size is partially because of specs and needing the internals to be bigger but I just don't like using them.

Also I'm going to have to buy a damn Satisfye grip again and it already makes the normal Switch pretty big but now it's going to be gigantic.

I really wish they would just release a home console only SKU.

OLED Steam Deck had a better reveal.
I just rewatched the trailer and it's not that great. It barely shows anything and is basically a Steam Deck surrounded by Steam Decks and just says OLED at the end. That reveal ain't it dude.

I didn't like that they punted the detailed reveal down the road and just showed us stuff that was already leaked. Other than that, it was fine.
Not only that but it's 3 months down the road which is way too long. It should be like a month out.

No analog triggers again, no good D-pad, the same poor ergonomics as the Switch, going back from OLED to LCD, MK9 looks too much like MK8, SoC 8nm, etc...
No analog triggers is fucking stupid. Every single PC handheld and even some of the retro emulation handhelds have them as well. There is no reason why they can't put analog triggers but I guess nobody buys stuff like racing games on Nintendo consoles anyway.

No OLED…
It's definitely going to be annoying going from OLED to LCD again and it's definitely Nintendo cheaping out. Hopefully we get a good LCD like the Portal or ROG Ally at the minimum.

As somebody who doesn't own a single display for gaming that isn't OLED besides my Portal/CRT it just sucks (LG C2 55 in living room and a 42 in the bedroom, KTC 1440p/240hz OLED Monitor, iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Pro M4, and a Retroid Pocket 5 coming). My MacBook isn't OLED but I've played like 1 game on it which was The Coffin of Andy and Leyley.
