What didn't you like about the Switch 2?

It seemed very safe. I think that’s smart but it’s not exciting. I’m not chomping at the bit to get it. It’s like the PS5 Pro. It feels like upgrading just because it’s new and a little better.

I know it’s not Nintendo’s brand but if Switch 2 was cutting edge and super powerful, I’d might be a little excited.

Nothing exciting. Just a bigger version. And considering how shit the ergonomics are on the original, I don't have high hopes for this one either. But let's see the games...
Also, the reveal was complete garbage.

I also dont understand the reason to push the actual reveal back to april. Its literally a switch pro. Very few changes and we have been waiting for over 8 years by the time switch 2 launches. Nintendo has to stop trying to be cute and stop being super cheap trying to drag out the switches life span so long like someone with an old beater car driving it til the wheels fall off. This is unacceptable.

How else will they be 100% sure that they beat the PS2? Also Nintendo has never really respected it's customers.

To me the trailer just felt very by the numbers and kind of simplistic. Felt more like a trailer for a new SKU, like, say, the Switch OLED got, than an entirely new generation of Nintendo.

I’d have liked to see more sneak peaks of games, and not only 1st party titles. The dude playing Skyrim on a plane in the Switch 1 trailer was very memorable. Some kind of surprising third party title like that would’ve been nice.

But hey, I’ve been following the leaks religiously so there was no surprise factor at all for me.
Your explanation of the Switch 2 trailer NAILED it--it DID fill like the OLED switch unveiling trailer. It certainly did not fill like the spectacle it should have been.

I personally have no much to complain, unlike PS5 Pro I can play my physical copy without need pay extra to disc drive and both gets its own exclusives while I still can play my original Switch games.

The thing that gets me the most is I know so many moms and dads that have bought a Switch for their little ones for Christmas or birthdays. I don't see same mom and dad(s) rushing out to buy a Switch 2 when they have a perfectly capable machine for their kids.

On this basis, I cannot see it doing 80+ million units.

But then I ain't no Pachter I suppose.

It looks like a Switch Pro. A very basic, safe upgrade that would be acceptable as a mid-gen refresh back in 2020, but not in 2025. So the hardware is very disappointing. The ergonomics look poor again. We don't have any details about upgrades to the haptics which are now out of date.

I'm not really buying the Switch for the hardware, so it's not a deal breaker. It's just simply not an inspiring new console for them. I don't see why I need a Switch 2 when my Switch 1 can play Mario Kart, Smash, etc.....

The lineup is what matters and that's what remains to be seen. Their output has been poor for my tastes for a while - lots of very safe, low budget/quality titles, with the occasional AAA game that is impressive and justifies the console.

I'm excited for the games, but not the console. Can't wait for Mario and Zelda etc. I wish there would have been some braver choice of design or color on it or something that screamed that this was an upgraded device. Perhaps a braver Dock.

Should have seen it coming after zelda tears of the kingdom. 75% of it is copy paste from breath of the wild. One of the laziest sequels ever. Same map with boring sky islands and underground depths. The game has so much filler in between the actual good stuff that advances the game forward. Open world zelda was a mistake imo. I want them to go back to what zelda really is because this isn't it. Modern Nintendo are putting in minimum effort.

The reveal felt very "safe", which I'm sure for a lot of people that's a good thing, but I kinda want Nintendo to be a little more experimental with the design, not just give me a Switch Pro.

As many others have stated, it's just an iteration and improvement. Boring. And like them, I'll also get one.

If a wireless dual screen mode with a TV is being kept secret, that would be cool. That's the only feature I can think of that they could be hiding though.

Obviously the extra USB C port will be used by accessories. The problem there is that if they aren't included, then most developers will not use them.

I wish it had Wacom EMR. That would make it also a great digital art entry device. Not to mention good for Osu!

And a clamshell dual display would have been nice.

True which is why to me at least it is extremely important that the os/features and such have side things like the 3ds had. street pass, spot pass, puzzle pieces, or achievements etc. it cant just be nothingness like switch. I turn on switch and select game thats it. Its Boring and bland. Nothing holding me to the platform. No point for me to grab a switch 2 day one without those things or more deep stat tracking and unlocks in its games. Even steam is dominating with bonus features for its platform. These features are the future and switch 2 better have them. Or ill just keep playing every game on other platforms and gain trophies, steam cards etc.

I miss the in-person social features of the DS family so much. We could do with them more than ever.

No OLED seems the obvious answer but I am also wondering if it'll support HDR (docked or otherwise). But really this was so barebones there wasn't much to like or dislike other than the visual - and that's - well playing it extremely safe given it's basically a Switch XL.

It seems Nintendo doesn't care about people who want to play racing games because the triggers are digital again.

That shit infuriates me.
Dumb question but do the GameCube controller analog triggers work on Switch?

If it’s not OLED then I don’t expect HDR since I think LCD + HDR kills battery life even quicker than an OLeD screen but I think the price would be north of 500 so I get why they wouldn’t do it.

The one title shown was Mario Kart 8, which came out 11 years ago. If it turns out that gameplay was actually Mario kart 9, then it's even less impressive.

No differentiator shown. No reason to upgrade. Maybe that's the point while we're still inside the return window of all those Nintendo Switches they sold at Christmas?

They do but only when using a GameCube WiiU adapter in games that specifically target the GameCube controller. Grid Autosport does that, but the GameCube analogue triggers aren't as nice to work with as the average PS or Xbox triggers.

They need a Pro Controller with analoge triggers. Cannot believe they are willing to fuck everyone over who likes to play a racing game. Don't understand this shit at all. Taking away functionality.

Kick stand looks like the going to snap easily if not careful. Switch OLED has a better one.

How sturdy the joycons will be. The trailer showed nothing basically. They snap in due to magnets, but do they wobble? Do they easily pull out. Can I hold the device with a joycon and it doesn’t fall out etc…

It should have been a live trailer showing the ins and outs of the device, how connecting and disconnecting works while showing they don’t move about while being connected.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Two things. I don't care for the mouse thing, it's probably barely gonna get used. And the magnet thing is neat, but it's unnecessary and will cost a buck. Nintendo is not gonna lose money on the hardware. They need to save cost no matter what and I believe these two things will increase the price.

The branding/logo is a bit concerning in that it screams "Pro" rather than "Next Generation". Comparing the new model to the OG switch was a mistake imho. That "2" has weird placement too.

Too early to tell how well it'll perform but Nintendo have never had back-to-back super successful, home console generations before, so time will tell.

Historically speaking, software is what wins generations and I have no doubts they'll have plenty of exclusive content to satisfy players for another 7 years.

No OLED really sucks. But Nintendo knows they’ll be able to get a second purchase out of me when they release the OLED version in two years. Bastards.

Beyond that, I love pretty much everything about it. Except that they didn’t give us a price or release date.

Mario Kart's graphics are oldgen c'mon, for God's sake the Switch 2 will be more powerful than the ps4 So why can't Nintendo games use advanced technology?

No complaints here, its what Im after, a more powerfull switch with upscaling. No crying about they didnt show enough ect, they owe us nothing its there company, there product to do as they please, we have had a small reveal with a proper look at it soon, lets have a drink, smoke a zut and chill. For me I didnt want no swing a sword round the lounge gimmic for the mums like the Wii, just some real gaming. The Switch is more of my wifes thing the same will be for Switch 2 aswell but I think I will use the 2 more if we get the likes of the open world Zelda games going at 60fps onit. Its not going to be as powerfull as the Windows/Steam handhelds and its not going todo aswell as the Switch 1 for multiple reasons, but it will do great im sure. Im looking forward to it myself, its going to be the best handheld on the market untill Microsoft Xbox release theres 💪🟢.

As an outsider (non-Switch owner, not plugged into the leaks), I found it underwhelming and uninformative. I wish they would have included some specifications. I guess that will come later.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by hearing Nintendo fan reaction, too. Seems like a lot of people are saying this is more like a mid-gen upgrade, a Switch Pro, rather than a full next-gen leap forward in terms of the tech. That's disappointing.
