COD BO6 continues and it is not going well.

I saw that Ys X Nordics is out and I was excited, but then I saw that there might be ship combat and I can't stand that stuff so I am putting my interest on hold. I'll have to watch some reviews and get player feedback about the amount of that content in the game.

I just got PS Plus Premium for a month and I've beaten Untitled Goose Game(heckin' adorable) and Transference(damn creepy). Now I'm either going to start a playthrough on Death Stranding, Detroit: Become Human or Last of Us Part 1. I love playing some smaller indie games in between longer ones. Animal Well is also downloaded and ready.

I was going to play Mass Effect, but I need to be in a different mood to get into that trilogy so it'll have to wait.

I've been on a gaming heater lately. Finished like 4 games in 2 weeks. Silent Hill 2, Neva, A Quiet Place, Alone in the Dark.

Started Epic Mickey Rebrushed. It's ok so far. Definitely feels a tad outdated in terms of gameplay. After this I finally play Robocop.

Beat Metaphor: Refantazio last night. Left some impressions on the OT, but the TLDR is that the game is fantastic and my favorite work from the Persona team so far.

Now I dunno what to play. It's chilly outside, so might want to get comfy, maybe play some King's Field IV or a replay of Valkyrie Profile, dunno.

Finished Silent Hill 2 - It's a worthy playthrough. I prefer the original but it's nice to have this as an easily accessible option.

Finally got the McLaren F1 '94 in Historic Orange after playing GT7 damned near every day since launch.

Played through the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. It seems fine although the overall aesthetic is rather drab. It's hard to judge these games by their demos/betas though.

I'm really not sure what to play next. Maybe I'll delve into one of the three recent Yakuza titles that I purchased at launch and didn't spend more than a few hours with.

Epic Mickey kinda sucks tbh. It's just bare bones puzzle solving and platforming. Feels like something a 5th grader could complete. Not really having much fun, might drop it.

Been playing Psychonauts 2 this week, rolled credits and got the platinum today. Loved my time with it, cool premise with tons of atmosphere. I would say that the first game has more memorable levels that stand out more but fantastic sequel nonetheless

After a few false starts finally finished Steelrising. It's easy to dismiss due to the obvious jank like getting stuck on small objects on the ground, some hitbox issues, and gameplay being on the easy side for a soulslike. However there's a charm to the atmosphere and characters that suck you in. Great voice acting. Wonderful music- especially the background mood themes, and the plot grabbed me the more I progressed.

The story starts off with heavy dialog from characters before you really care about them, unfortuneatly. However it gets better as you learn more. It's a re-imagining of the French Revolution where the king deployed an army of automatons to crush the revolt. You play as Aegis, the bodyguard of Marie Antoinette sent out to stop them. An event happens (very cool but spoiler) which enables Aegis to take agency of her own decisions. With Optimus coming soon from Tesla this aspect was particularly interesting.

One thing that surprised me are the side-quests to perform investigations that reveal who is behind their reprogramming. Your decisions based on what you learn (or not) determines who remains is power after the revolution. You also decide how to reveal what you've learned to other NPCs which changes the missions you're offered.

Fifth nebula in Astro Bot. The bosses has so far been incredibly fun. Very creative with eye popping visuals. This game is such a trip. I play it with a huge smile on my face the entire time. Not a single level or challenge have been boring or annoying. It constantly surprises you with new tricks up its sleeve. But I wonder how this game will stand the test of time in regards to licensing. There are a vast amount of characters that are not owned by Sony. Sure, most of the characters are synonymous with PS, but you have characters such as Leon from Resident Evil, Lara Croft, Amaterasu from Okami, Pyramid Head from SH2 etc. Are they licensed to use? We all saw what happened to Little Big Planet recently and I do wonder if Astro Bot will face the same fate when in a decade, Sony doesn't want to renew licensing fees for all these characters that makes an appearance in the game.

It's great fun! But, man does Dave work hard. Poor guy spends all day catching fish and being everyone's errand boy, and then he has to work his butt off in the sushi restaurant come evening! Those bits are actually the hardest.

Still playing Sea of Stars. Turned out to be a bit longer than I thought. Stats show that I'm 30 hours in but I'm clearly somewhere near the very end. Have conflicted thoughts about it - I like most of it and that is already a lot as I'm not fan of jprg's in general. I was getting a bit bored just before you travel the, ahem, Sea of Stars but the change of scenery and certain developments helped a huge deal. I'm not sure I'm 100% immersed in it but here I am always willing to get back to it and finish it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

I'm playing on PS5. I'm not good at the game. I'm very casual. Sometimes I have a good session, and some good plays. I mostly play Hardcore Free-For-All, with the odd Team Deathmatch thrown in. I've played a lot of COD in my life. COD 2: Big Red One is my favorite campaign in a COD. I beat a bunch of them on Veteran. I had the Mile High achievement on Xbox 360. I've played a lot of Multiplayer. I like it. It's fun. Mindless, campy, and monetized with cosmetics, yes on all counts.

And yet I can see and dislike COD from the perspective of detractors. Big budget shooterbro nonsense for cheap dopamine hits. It grates on me at times, along with some specific personal tantrum stances I have about meaningless Calling Cards and Camos. It can be frustrating and buggy and weird. Noticeably, I have no one playing it with me so I just mute and do my own thing since it is a solo mode. I'm having a crappy night in the game as I type this, so maybe that's why I'm rambling haha. EDIT: I snagged the Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors, so I must definitely give that a try!

Feels a fair bit more difficult than the original but feels well balanced after coming from FFXVI which was way too easy.

Halfway through Astro Bot. Ridiculously fun and creative. The gameplay is snappy and everything moves in a quick pace. The level design is excellent and the different locations are full of surprises and easter eggs to find. The game is basically a large celebration of Playstation history, but also of video games itself. Every stage so far has looked fantastic. Bright colors, cool effects and creative use of the Dualsense. The feeling I get from Astro Bot is kinda like playing Super Mario 64 for the first time. It's that good and inventive.

It's truly a Celebration of Platformers in general. Fantastic Gem

Mafia II, Definitive Edition. I'm a little over halfway through. I never played any of the Mafia games, so this was a pleasant surprise.

It perfectly captures what I like about older games:

• limited, straight-to-the point dialog (vs. long cutscenes)
• simple and clearly defined characters
• most of your time is spent in-game vs. watching 8 hours of cinematics
• plenty of humor
• politically incorrect dialog (racism is funny)
• good mission variety
• linear mission progression (vs. open world overstuffed with 'content')
• relatively short duration (~ 12 hours)
• boobies

I like the realistic driving, too - well, more realistic than GTA, anyhow.

I'm not finished, but I'm having a good time. Not sure why I picked up Mafia II rather than Mafia I, but I'll have to go back and play Mafia I later. This is good. I'm glad they did a remake of it. Well done.

After loving Astro Bot I still needed to finish Playroom. Checked it out for a bit when I bought my PS5 but didnt really feel it. Got all the the trophies yesterday and quite liked it. Apart from the motion sections, I hate that shit. AB is a true sequel as it really expands upon the foundation set by the original. Cant comment on Rescue Mission as I barely played it.

I'm in the labyrinth part. Think this is the weakest area of the original and I'm of the same opinion in the remake. Still fantastic though.

Nearing the end of Alan Wake 2. Have to say, its a decent game but let down with many fustrating parts breaking down the pace and action. The gameplay itself is fairly sketchy as well with extremely limited resources, nonsensical dodge system and constant respawns ruining the fun. In many ways gameplay takes a big step back, as it tries to turn it from action from the first title; to a survival horror. Not a big fan of Saga either, but ho hum.

Annoying, because AW2 had so much potential but ultimately falls flat and the game comes across as a fairly unnesessary addition. Talking too much without saying a lot. Heck we got American Nightmare over a decade before, which was a DLC and that felt more like a sequel than this. Hopefully Control 2 and whatever comes next doesn't disappoint.

Shadow of the Colossus is so damn good. Not enough people talking about it on the regular.


As for me, after a long absence I've been back to playing some spooky games for the Halloween season. Extending the season too, into November this year. I beat Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - damn good metroidvania but not quite up to Dawn of Sorrow or Symphony.

Also just tried out Mister Mosquito, and well, could not get more than a couple hours in. Really wacky game, very interesting. Piss poor controls though. Glad I experienced it but not something I care to finish.

#1 - Rogue Trader - Such a gem of a CRPG, 40k at it's best.
#2 - Finishing Space Marine 2, jamming MP/Coop.
#3 - Occasional Darktide drop ins.
#4 - Veilguard has taken 15 hours of my time so far, and I'm loving it tbh: more than Inq, less than DA:O, about on par with 2.

Steamdeck game for work trips is Metaphor, so so so good. 10 hours in on that, taking my time, look forward to nights away on work once the dinners are done and clients sorted: good vibe for a hotel and a bottle of wine.

I bought the Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors. Unfortunately for me I'm an idiot, so I have no clue if the DLC is standalone or if playing and advancing in the base game is required. Also unfortunately, I am terribad at the game so there is a chance that I will not progress to the point where I get to play the DLC content. I am only on the first stage with the first character and have only leveled up to lvl 5. Yes, I suck. No, I am not a Vampire and apparently not a Survivor. =/

I wish there was a god mode toggle and I could just be immortal, play any stage with any weapon and character, etc.
For the record, I advocate for those classic cheat codes and modes in all games.

Can anyone explain how to use the Castlevania DLC in Vampire Survivors? Or link me to a thorough explanation if you can't be arsed to explain it? lol

Alice Madness Returns

I love everything Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carrolls story captivated me at a young age and made me interested in surrealism. I've read the books several times. Watched the movies and played the games. Alice Madness Returns is a pretty solid interpretation of the novel, while incorporating new original ideas. Apart from some frame drops and minor technical issues, the game holds up pretty well. The art direction and story is amazing as well as the platforming. But the combat is lackluster and the enemy design is pretty boring. So far at least.

Xbox Free Flay Days selection has Predator: Hunting Grounds and Killer Klowns from Outer Space this weekend so I tried both. Both MP games made by the same developer. This is clearly a licensed cash-grab, but I thinks games are totally functional and I had fun playing both, at least for a few matches. Would never buy them though.

Never got around to playing Like a Dragon: Ishin! I'm not the biggest Yakuza games fan, but there is a lot of stuff at the beginning here that intrigued me so I think I will buy it when it leaves GP

Also, played a lot of Dirt 5. It still looks great and while the racing is never as polished as FH, it still a fun racer game.

Finished Sea of Stars. 7.5/10

Just completed Tomb Raider 1-3 remastered on the XSX.

Played them in order, and just wrapped up TR3 this morning. TR3 was every bit the bastard I remember it being (never quite completed it first time round, getting to Antarctica and dropping it for some reason).

I save scummed my way through it. Was on save 1000 at the end!

TR1 > TR2 > TR3.

Man, Rondo of Blood is fucking difficult. Maria makes it easier, but I still suck at Classicvanias. Movement is just way too stiff for the enemies. Fun game though, visuals and soundtrack is top tier.

Edit: I've changed my mind. This game is horse shit. Dullahan is abysmal, those hurtboxes when he is just standing there taking up half the screen yet not coming into range. All of stage 4 has been painful.

After finishing Wind Waker HD last week, I started Majoras Mask on saturday. Two dungeons in and I might stop playing. Not a fan of the time limit especially with the dated controls and framerate. Redo things again to access certain areas, because time ran out is not my cup of tea. I would like to explore the world on my own. I feel stressed playing the game. The atmosphere is awesome though.

Amid Evil, doing a replay to get ready for the DLC. Playing on Evil difficulty, game's kinda easy but it's still fun. Tons of different enemies, amazing arsenal of magical weapons, cool areas to explore and amazing art design. This is my first time playing this game with RTX and fuck, it looks awesome.

Resident Evil 7, not sure about this one. Game's kinda jank, and even if I was having fun on the main house, the old house is so fucking shit that it almost makes me uninstall the game. Managed to power through and now I'm at the boss of the greenhouse. Not having a lot of fun tbh, might just drop it. Wonder if Village might be worth it for me considering how little enjoyment I'm finding on 7.
