I don't find myself reading mangas often or at all (i really should)
I'm going to start my Berserk (manga) journey soon. I probably can find it online, but a part of me wants to buy physical copies of it.
I will give this show a watch, though, have the next few days off of work.
Another one I didn't see mentioned is "Texhnolyze." In some ways, it's even more dour and depressing than "Now and then, here and there."
It's 26 episodes of humanity going through the end stages of an extinction event. It's a slow burn, and very introspective. The first episode if I recall, doesn't even have any dialogue for the first half. I'd say it's even more bleak than Berserk (although it definitely isn't as outwardly graphic, but it is still graphic to some extent).
