What is the most intensive gameplay in a specific game you've played or are playing?

Describe why it's intensive for you?

For me it's Doom Eternal, I remember through the years I had so intense battles there. Even on normal difficulty you don't know which second could be game over. You have to check your ammo and look where to get it, you just have to strategize your next 5 seconds in couple of milliseconds...

Now I'm playing through RE4 Remake, I'm in the early sections of the game. The first village battle was intense, you just have to jump in some random window to realize in some 10 seconds you have partly made a mistake, because they are already surrounding you...at least you could find some more ammo there

How about you?

Nine Sols! Sekiro like parrying in a Hollow Knight-like artstyle world…it is intense and a metroidvania which is a double plus. Really enjoying it atm
Checked it out on YouTube, it's not very fast but I assume it takes precise counter? How long of a game is it?

Nothing more intense than fighting games. My autism vs yours. No teams to fall back on. Gotta know the frames and the matchups. Most intense gaming IMO. Nothing like getting into a best of 20 deathmatch with another player who is evenly matched with you.

dreamcast's soul caliber emulated on a PC
massive slowdown would come out of nowhere and hit like a rock
the pace of the fight would completely change for a few moments then go back to normal

gave me and my friends heart attacks
one of my favorite memories

Doom Eternal for sure. You can reach a similar zen in Turbo Overkill after you learn it.

Other notables:

Evil Within
Sekiro bosses
The Bunker - I legit could not continue because it blew out my nerves so much. Most intense survival horror experience I've tried. Go in unspoiled if you can.

As long as "intensive" doesn't have to mean "speed", then I'll offer a recent game I've played.
Gears Tactics.
Plenty of missions in the game require precise management of multiple aspects of gameplay. Movement points, ammunition, cooldowns, distances, angles, et cetera. Many times you'll have to consider every facet of every character on the map for several turns in advance, just to make sure you don't get caught without any combat or defensive options.
Most of the later missions will have your team in a dire state with your options dwindling to such an extent that failure seems certain. The final boss fight was definitely this way. But, if you've planned carefully (and don't get extremely unlucky with die rolls), then you can usually pull out a victory in the end. It's a game that I would describe as extremely satisfying.

I remember Gears of war 2 horde mode was pretty intense team playing, each round getting more and more difficult, you had to be extra careful and quick at picking up ammo and setting the traps and of course have good aim, great memories.

Bloodborne…parrying Darkbeast Paarl with a sliver of life left! Then a follow up riposte to feel the most gratifying feeling :)

Love games that are fair but so rewarding of player’s time and effort while learning it’s systems

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan both 1 and 2. Those are the games that virtually destroyed my DS screen and I didn't regret doing so at all. I spent hours trying to master every stage, and the final song was hell, I had to work for hours I didn't have.

Doom Eternal gets crazy.

So crazy that even the devs admit they went too far with the amount of shit you need to keep track of. Definitely a satisfying game to master, but having to think that much while moving that fast can be overwhelming.
Recently I have a strategy to take super shotgun as my primary, and then if needed change to whatever to defeat that special-requirement demon

Have you tried Master Levels on hardest difficulty?

I have this in my Xbox library, but haven't played it. Sounds so good

Turn-based jrpgs when you don't know what you're doing, it punish you really hard.
I'm playing through Blue Dragon and it has great turn-based systems' depth, agree with you
Waiting for DQ12! DQ11 was and is so memoriable! When...maybe they are lining it up with Switch 2 release or something

Also wanna add

Hunt: Showdown

Basically any fight in that game is fucking intense but full server fights get to the point I've almost dropped my controller from shaking with adrenaline and anxiety lol

Returnal

I was so fucking in the zone at one point I could no-hit blow through the highest tier challenge rooms and it was glorious. I was feverishly addicted to that game.

One of those games where you watch yourself in disbelief of how far you've come skill-wise sometimes.
When making this thread I was thinking about Returnal, because some time back I watched walkthrough on YouTube and it looked very difficult

A runner up would definitely have to go to DOOM Eternal’s master levels, especially Tara’s Nabad. Goodness gracious, my poor hands. All of my examples will see me having to take breaks for a few minutes after a long battle.

depend what everyone perceive over 'intense'. for me it not necessary mean hard or challenging but also could mean the pace is 'intense'.

some of recent game that come to my mind :

Ifrit vs Titan whole battle stage sequence

from 1vs 1 fight to Eikon fight underground then to Collousus Titan kind of fight then ended with fight while falling.

vs Bahamut is there too

then Spoiler : last boss stage fight in FF7 Rebirth

however it is fine to do this with last boss fight but i dislike they keep doing it even way before it by throw fight after fight without proper break of pace between it for sake of trying having to have a 'great' sequence'. you just throw multiple battle in one go bruh.

i havent played Dragons Dogma 2 yet but the first game has tons of intense fight especially the drake first encounter at low level. took me whole night with multiple pawn death to finally took it down.

StarCraft 2.

When it first came out I made a serious attempt at playing competitively and that was the most stressful gaming I’ve ever done. Even if I was never more than diamond league, the game did a great job of matching you up with an opponent of roughly equal skill usually. There are few gaming experiences that give you the same thrill as being in an equal RTS match, where you have to juggle macro economy, micro unit movements, think about what your opponent is doing, think about what your plan is, and constantly adjust it all on the fly. Winning one of those was an incredible rush.

People saying Doom Eternal need to drop that garbage, and go play Returnal.

It's like the Dodgeball of video games (i.e. dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge).

Heavy Spoilers for Outer Wilds:

Entering the Dark Bramble for the first time to find the Vessel was nerve wracking. A complete maze with fog everywhere and if you made any sound that pesky anglefishes were always lurking to eat you whole ship

It really captures that feeling of exploring "something" you're not supposed to, a place that defies the laws of physics and from which nobody has ever returned before

iRacing. Driving with some of the fastest guys on the service is intense as heck. For a none racing example. PUBG when you get down to that final circle or most fire fights in Escape From Tarkov.
