What was an update that negatively impacted your enjoyment of a game?

Recently, the awakenings update ruined Dauntless. While I didn't hate it as much as most people did, the Big Bang update in Maplestory really soured alot of people.

Not exactly an update, but still a change, I don’t get:
Losing the ability to let the engine of your car running when you leave the car. Was there in GTA IV, was missing in GTA V.

Not exactly a singular game (as at this point I can't even remember which game did it first in the series), but whatever update introduced the first dumb skin to Call of Duty. What was once one of my most played series, is now a horrible mess of characters running around mixed with spastic ADHD gameplay.

The fact that every COD launches slightly normal and then just releases complete bullshit like an ape, Nicki Minaj, and a giant pot leaf pisses me off.

ARK I guess, the most recent updates placed a lot of limits in gathering / farming / foundation placement and while I get it, helps balance PvP, it ruins PvE.

Usually Destiny 2 when they get on some bullshit new ideas that fuck over the grinding fanbase.
I started souring on their ideas when they told us none of our weapons and gear transferred from D1 to D2. Fresh start right- old stuff will never be needed right? right?

It's been so long I can't even remember the details but a Gauntlet game was released about a decade ago that was pretty fun. The devs released a big (final?) update that changed a lot of stuff that most people playing back then did not like and asked them to roll it back. They did not and even when they moved on to other games they wouldn't release the "classic" version; not even as a beta branch build.

The Witcher 3 on the Xbox One got worse and worse the more updates it got. I remember performance, visuals and load times all declining here and there.

Most recently the update for Wayfinder that turned it from a MMO-ish game into a sp game.
Or at least, it's now a completely different game from what they set out to create with Early Access.

Yeah, back on the PS3, I couldn't play the Mortal Kombat reboot because Sony decided to stroll outside butt-naked in a thunderstorm, daring the universe to ruin their day. And it did, for a god damn month!

As someone who enjoy getting achievements/trophies the free update to cult of the lamb is a pain in the ass. Basically the game has 4 bosses, there is an achievement for defeating each boss without taking a single hit, the thing is that when you finished the game you could retry each fight to get the achievement but after the free update once you finish the game the free dlc automatically activates and transforms all bosses to an elite version of themselves.

Brah! Weapon Sunsetting in Destiny 2.

We collected weapons for years and years and kept them safe. Upgrading them as needed.

Someone at Bungie decided that we needed to get rid of all the non-exotic weapons in our vaults so they could work less by rehashing stuff instead of having to invent new stuff.

We fought and fought and WON as the guy left Bungie and they reverted everything, but not before they got in one destruction of all the non-exotic loot in our vaults.

We lost everything and the game was never as good again. It never will be. We were ROBBED! Hundreds of hours lost and thrown to the wind by one dumbass decision that almost destroyed the game. No singular decision in any game was more selfish or ruinous to any game than this.

Something just felt "off" about the MHGU demo so I never played the franchise since. Others have propelled the series to record highs so I guess they liked the changes.

Warframe: I started playing on the beta on pc and I fell in love with it, but eventually the game became too fast for me and even more confusing after each update.

Destiny: I enjoyed the series a lot and I loved the Forsken dlc, but with the f2p update they changed a lot of things and I stopped enjoying it.

That Witcher 3 update that gave it ray tracing and what not. The game was already incredibly beautiful just due to great art direction, and that was despite the age, and it performed reasonably well, then they update it and the CPU utilization went to complete shit and I went from maxing the game at 60+fps at all times to always sub 50 despite turning off all the ray tracing shit, and they even removed the HBAO. I don't if they've fixed it since, but goddamn what a horrible buzz kill.

Also, Skyrim consistently updates every few years for some weird reason, and every time they do that shit it breaks all my mods, so I've kind of just permanently given up on Skyrim as a result, which honestly a bummer as I utterly adore the game.

CS Go when they made the game free to play. Ruined the game with the amount of people with throwaway accounts and cheaters.

Valve somehow also made CS 2 worse than Go in terms of content and maps.

I loved Drova as a "take on the Gothic formula" of RPGs.
I played through it twice and the second with their "hardcore" mode that was a bit more difficult and with a single-save system (so no savescumming or taking back your decisions, and if you died you were back at your last checkpoint).

Then they introduced a "uber hardcore mode" that included enemies doing double damage and taking half (so more HP sponges that they already were in some cases) and "ironman mode" that this time actually deleted your savefile and forced you to start from zero on death.
I'm firmly of the opinion that both were changes for the worse, and their "optional" nature is somewhat invalidated by the fact that they added achievements for both modalities, making my previous "platinum" of the game null.

Black Ops 2. FAL gun they nerfed it twice!

It was a semi auto rifle which you had to grind to a bit to unlock fully automatic mode for the gun. I hate semi autos pressing the trigger for every shot. But when you hit level 8 or 10 I think it gave you an option to switch to auto and it ripped enemies apart. They added recoil to it twice.

When From nerfed the Reduvia daggers Blood Blade ash of war in Elden Ring. Shit was broken and insanely powerful and fun to play with. Most enemies were a one hit kill and bosses melted faster than ice on hot summer day. Then it got hit with the nerf hammer and became a total "meh" weapon.

It's a gorgeous update if you've got a hefty fuckin machine, but CPU optimization really went to shit bad. Definitely check it out though. I haven't tried it since upgrading my CPU, but it ran like absolute shit on my i7 9700k when it ran perfectly before the update. Checked CPU utilization and it was basically the complete opposite of Cyberpunk's incredible CPU utilization, which is just so weird to me as they're the same engine with the same graphical features as far as Ray tracing, and they're both open world, so I don't get why one is incredibly well optimized and the others for shit. Again, haven't tried it in over a year, so it might be fixed now, I have no idea.

I was a top tier founder, got the T shirt and everything. Yeah... the card grind and sprint jump roll slide shit got old fast.

Wasn't a fan of the SW Outlaws update which dumbed down the AI for stealth purposes and got rid of the insta fail

People forgot how to play basic ass 6th gen stealth titles and of course Ubi had to bend the knee and "fix" it to satisfy ADHDfied, shitty game players.

Not like it even helped sales numbers lol They should've just left that alone.

CLUTCH CLAW in MH World Iceborn. I still played another 1000 hours, but imo it ruined the game.
Fucking hell I hated the clutch claw. Fights became such a chore.

Rainbow Six Siege had many lame changes over the years when I was playing it. One of the worst was when they removed Frost's insta-kill ability on her mats.

This was a while ago, but the whole sunsetting aspect in Destiny 2 really soured me on the game and on Bungie in general. I know they reversed the weapon sunsetting last year, but a little too late for me (quit some time after Witch Queen release). Never getting back into D2 although I'll give D3 a chance if it ever releases.
Even further back remember when they released The Dark below and reset everyone's weapon progress?

I always heard that clutch claw trivialize stuff but i still see thousands of people using the claw in the wrong moment and being oneshotted against stuff that attack relentlessly like a raging brac or the monkey, or even lesser opponents like MR anjanath.

And unless you are a speedrunner, do you even give a fuck if you can't tenderize the whole body to finish an hunt 5 min sooner? I forgot to tenderize in 80% of my hunts and it has never been a problem...

Always found the clutch hate exagerated, some of the clutch moves were god tier (like the lance one) and lance is never gonna feel as good without its clutch move to me.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything

like i said, i hated it, but still played another 1000 hrs after lol. it trivialized mounting, and was so powerful... you did leave a lot of damage on the table by not using. also was the primary way to obtain most effective slinger ammo (which made endemic slinger gathering completely obsolete) and worst offence: it was too easy. you commented some people mess up the timing... it's far and away the easiest punish in the game.

The freezing powers subclass in Destiny 2 completely ruined the Crucible and I ceased playing within a month of its inclusion and permanently uninstalled the game. Before it I was a PvP vet in that game, thousands of hours played. I don't think people realise just how fatal to the PvP mode that stupid addition was.
