What's the consensus on plates being interchangeable between PS5 Slim and Pro?

I bought a kid pool once from Amazon before a family gathering to give the smallest kids something to play in and the dimensions on Amazons US chart showed it was 36" in diameter and even had a picture of a baby sitting in it with the mother holding the baby

When it arrived it showed up about 6" in diameter and maybe could have been used as a lego swimming pool

So forgive me if I prefer to wait for an actual official source as Amazon is not official

And you're right its not rocket science, one will be published by Sony
That's still the seller putting incorrect info and not Amazon though. Sony has submitted that info to Amazon so it's safe to assume it's from Sony.

If the Slim plates don't work, then the external HDD won't fit because it uses Slim plates. So either they fit and the drive works, or they don't fit and everyone who bought a $80 drive for their Pro is fucked.

The BD Drive is confirmed to work since the announcement day....

Same for the vertical stand

I still don't get the hurry of buying useless plates a month before release

Just wait for the ACTUAL PS5 Pro plates

Likely is true but to me this is not Sony official charts

And if Sony submitted this to Amazon why not just post that image on their site somewhere?

Sorry if I don't take Amazon as being official

The drive and plate are separate, in the worst case you'd have to buy a new plate

Sure

Amazon Japan made up that chart for no reason

LOL

HDD? You mean a disc drive? The disc drive is compatible. The plates are not. The bottom disc drive part may be the same.

Sony charges, what?, $60 for the plates? So then you're looking at $150 after tax to add a drive to your Pro?

Again, if the current drive works on the Pro, then the plates would fit.
It probably does work on the pro though, I was just saying worst case scenario

(And the Pro 'may' come with an additional plate if not, but we don't know yet)

I guess there is a possibility that whoever is in charge at Sony for listing on Amazon made incorrect assumptions but that info is still from Sony and not Amazon. Why they didn't post that info elsewhere I'm not sure. We would have to wait and see if it's incorrect but to me it's an official source for now.

I have already agreed its likely correct but we can agree to disagree that to me its not an official Sony chart until it shows up on a Sony website

I will also agree with your last statement its what we have for now

I bought two ps5 Pros and I also bought 2 sets of slim plates. If they don’t fit I’ll just return them to Amazon and paint the white ones.

Sounds like you’re a Pro hater so why even comment on a topic you clearly don’t give a damn about?

Just seems silly. No one cares what you have to say as an outsider.
The only thing missing from your shopping spree is a harmless joke detector !

The problem is, techradar threw that randomly on their PS5 Pro preorder live coverage with no source of that information 🤷

If only Sony would talk just a little more

We didn't even get a time here in the US when orders would go live or even a price on the LE bundle

I don't know I have ever seen a company less willing to talk to their consumers
They won't do that even for the smallest customer inquiry.

Something like this should have been dealt with immediately.

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if the PS5 PRO had it's own covers, as Sony like to squeeze as much money as possible out of there customers.

Off topic somewhat, the silver looks pretty nice.

Nice because it's all matte. I really hope the Pro doesn't come with glossy tops. Looks like it doesn't but I haven't seen it confirmed. I really like that sterling silver. If they stay away from black for PS6 this would be a good choice

Does it really matter at this point? Are there that many slim plates available? I only saw 3 when I searched. Is the Pro upgrade path really going from slim to Pro? I assumed it would mostly be launch PS5 owners and people who were waiting to get a PS5. I know it's good to know but it's not the biggest deal. I do love that silver color slim cover though...

Sony isn't the only source for plates. For one third of the price you get plates from China. For example this one for 20 Dollar. Of course not licensed.

Yeah but how many people are upgrading from a slim to a pro? It's basically just to preorder to have them available for launch. I get that since I have already ordered some accessories myself but console cover is last on a list. Mine at least.
Disc drive, vertical stand and heatsink are or can be a necessity for use purposes. But yeah it's dumb that this is no clarification inside of one month from launch

Right, no info sucks, but plates are not a mandatory accessoire people need on release day. If slim plates fit, just order when Sony gives the info. If slim plates don't fit, you have to wait anyways.

Read the other threads it’s confirmed that no existing plates from slim work. They bottoms do but the top has different notch placements requiring different styles to be made.

Someone got theirs and tried it already.
