COD it's reliant to playstation hardware but playstation hardware can survive without it, you will see.
Exactly. But you know what, fuck Sony. Good for Microsoft, I hope they destroy Sony for selling us $70 dollars games and charging us for updates.I don't think a Western dev studio being bought is best answered by making more Japanese games. The audience don't cross over that much and if they could expand the audience with Japanese quirky games there is no reason why they wouldn't have already.
Sony has a lot of dormant ips they can still bring back to try and compete with. And they can also try to acquire a big publisher as well.
Biggest is issue is cod is huge name and if it goes exclusive it will take a lot of hardware sales imo.
Except now there will be a lot of games for Xbox and not much for PS so the possibility of buying a PlayStation diminishes pretty quicklyThe same place as before. If I want a game on PlayStation, I'll buy it. If I want a game on Xbox, I'll buy it.
It won't. You will see. It's not because Activision is gone people will start to buy less playstation (fixed). Come on now.Yes of course but losing COD will put a dent on hardware and ps plus sales.
How much lets wait and see.
Another third party game which can do this is GTA so won't be surprised if Microsoft is looking at acquiring Take 2 as well.
FIFA is another but that will always be multi platform cause it is licensed.
Sony needs to make it's own alternatives and not be dependent on third party titles just like Nintendo cause Microsoft and Co. will continue to spend big and Sony can't compete with them on that front.
ok wow was expecting reverse position form Asia and West.
Btw my point was and is FF can't take the place of Cod. an mmo rpg hardly attracts casuals .
Looking at the ip list I’m scratching my head what there is to lament except for cod.As long as COD doesn't go exclusive then it shouldn't be *too* bad for Sony to recover from this.
- recover dormant IPs, by god they have enough of them.
- invest in new studios, not just leaving it to the same 4/5 to carry first party productions
- stop Jim from blindly chasing the Gamepass success with this project Spartacus and taking the company further into the mud, we all know it won't compete with Gamepass and I'd rather the company focus in areas they actually specialise in
Even in case of exclusivity, the only think I can see a boost in Xbox sales when COD it's released. But it won't affect the playstation at all.As long as COD doesn't go exclusive then it shouldn't be *too* bad for Sony to recover from this.

Stop this hysteria, please. People don't buy ps5 for COD.Not Activision but COD is gone. Rest of Activisions IPs won't make difference to Sony sales.
Most gamers are casual so COD going will make a dent.
Exactly my point, COD is what makes or breaks this.Looking at the ip list I’m scratching my head what there is to lament except for cod.
Everyone’s mileage may vary.
Not hysteria. You are living in fools paradise if you don't believe Sony hardware and PS plus sales won't take a hit from losing COD.Stop this hysteria, please. People don't buy ps5 for COD.
$70 games are on Xbox too though. Activision, EA, and Take Two charge $70 for Xbox Series versions of games. Would be interesting to see if Activision still will or not. Sony games at least have no microtransactions and don't nickel and dime you. At least not yet. $60 or $70 and still full of microtransactions is not what I prefer. I'd rather just wait for a sale.Exactly. But you know what, fuck Sony. Good for Microsoft, I hope they destroy Sony for selling us $70 dollars games and charging us for updates.
People say this is a harm to consumers, seriously? By offering their games ln gamepass and keeping a $60 base price? Lmao.
XIV is a core game, but its an MMO.
XV sold like 10 million, and its a piece of shit.
VII is part 1 of a remake and sold like 10 mil. Its been on a single system for a long time.
I think FF is vaguely popular. Maybe not GTA or Fortnite popular, but popular.
Can you show to me when a missed big AAA IP has impacted in a relevant way the hardware console sales? Because you are incredibly irrational.Stop hysteria. You are living in fools paradise if you don't believe Sony hardware and PS plus sales won't take a hit from losing COD.
By hit it doesn't mean Sony is doomed but there will be noticeable losses.
Exactly. But you know what, fuck Sony. Good for Microsoft, I hope they destroy Sony for selling us $70 dollars games and charging us for updates.

Can you prove to me when a missed big AAA IP has affected in a relevant way the hardware console sales?
Question is, what is stronger brand, cod or playstation ? Even tough still best selling latest cod has worst results since many years, without playstation players I can see slowly death of this fenchise and is not that is impossible to make good fpp multiplayer game similar to cod![]()
Stock has dropped 8% today since the news dropped.
Note to Sony bros: Hold strong. lol
I mean this is REALLY bad. They will lose millions of PS+ subs, hundreds of millions from COD royalties, and god knows how many more from console sales, but Nintendo has survived without CoD, Elder Scrolls and GTA. Sony just needs to invest in homegrown talent and new IPs.
yeah it's nothing just like Bethesda lolLooking at the ip list I’m scratching my head what there is to lament except for cod.
Everyone’s mileage may vary.
Xbox is in third place right? Lol think regulators are gonna really be looking at Xbox. Nah.
The only thing you will see are probably higher sales on Xbox during the COD launch in US. That's it.We are talking COD here.
Means nothing to me but to many a casual gamer it is staple along with FIFA and GTA.
Let's wait and see. I hope I am wrong.
Wouldn’t they just be accused then of doing the same as MS were with their Forza, Gears and Halo franchises?Time for Sony to think about bringing back some old franchises like Killzone or Resistance and maybe Driveclub. And just expand your studios a bit more.
If they do that, they will keep having the premium content we all love, while offering variety. They need to fill the void.
The only thing you will see are probably higher sales on Xbox during the COD launch in US. That's it.
Sony has kind of always been reactionary. When they first started they copied almost everything Nintendo did, following their controller designs very quickly. Rumble, analog sticks, motion controls after that. Mascot platformers. Also this is why I hope to god when Sony unviels the PS+ revamp that day one FP games are not a thing
They may as well just hand MS the crown at that point. Just admit their strategy is to just be reactionary
It's not downplaying the sivnificance, because COD is a bigger deal than all of Bethesda, but he's right most of the IP are trash. Blizzard's IPs are PC centric for the most part so no big loss there for Sonyyeah it's nothing just like Bethesda lol
Sell less during the COD launch doesn't means ps5 can sell more for other IP thoughHigher Xbox sales on COD launch Xbox means less PS sales.
People wanting to play COD will only buy Xbox from now on.
Stop this hysteria, please. People don't buy ps5 for COD.
I'm not worried lol. Just pissed off by fanboy like you. It's from Bethesda announcement you and the others are like![]()
And this coming from the one who's shown how absolutely clueless they are. Only one warring is you. Compare cod numbers to any exclusive lol.
Now you will get activision games day one in game pass for the same 15 a month subscription. Now the service is completely worth it. For the price of a 2 Sony games you can get gamepass for a year,, cmon now, you can’t possibly compete with that.$70 games are on Xbox too though. I'd rather just wait for a sale.
I sense a slight increase in GPU monthly cost soon. With Activision back catalogue and day one stuff going on to it, easily an extra £€$ 5 a month. Now you will get activision games day one in game pass for the same 15 a month subscription.
Sony is making their own COD clone, which makes me think they knew about this news age ago. And it probably will come out next year or 2024 just in time.Higher Xbox sales on COD launch Xbox means less PS sales.

The quality who knows could be a dud
It's £7.99 actuallyNow you will get activision games day one in game pass for the same 15 a month subscription.
hahahahaha are you for real? cod IS the only game with fifa that can move hw salesStop this hysteria, please. People don't buy ps5 for COD.

About the only thing they did on their own was PS+ giving away games, which was a unique initiative from them. If they decide to copy MS, it's really not that surprising. They also copied MS achievement system, paid online as well.
hahahahaha are you for real? cod IS the only game with fifa that can move he sales
absolutely nothing changed for Playstation. I doubt people will suddenly switch Systems just because of the new Call of Duty...
Nah, not for at least another year. I couldn’t see 20 a month before but now I definitely can because there won’t be any other way for you to get these games. If they have one more big acquisition it’s game over for Sony. Their single player only melodramatic exclusives won’t cut it. That’s what happens when all your fucking games are the same instead of diversifying.I sense a slight increase in GPU monthly cost soon. With Activision back catalogue and day one stuff going on to it, easily an extra £€$ 5 a month.
I don't think it's really that big of a change. They already bought a cloud gaming company and had PS Now going. It's not about being goaded, it's about how they want to compete. They are being beat on price, and quantity in the very near future. It takes elephant size balls to pull a Nintendo and be like, you know what? We're getting killed out there, how about we try the Nintendo DS and the Wii. Sony will never change on that level. They're a fairly traditional multi-media company and all major media is going this same direction across TV, film and games. Those aren't what i'd call reactionary like this though. They had their own identity and pursued it while adopting ideas from their competitors because they were good ideas. Everyone does it.
Following the gamepass model is a complete 180 though. Its throwing away their entire businesss model but why? Because everyone pressured and goaded them to do it.
