GAD GUARD 1
So I have been keeping an eye on this for a while now, since the main visual had 2 design a liked a lot. So queue the first episode. First thing that pops, an awesome mid-1900s looking city(with huge tvs on top of building playing what looked like JAWS) and freakin awesome JAZZ playing throughout the whole episode.
Then we get our MC introduced and he looks great. Youthful energy, honest, logical and good designed. Works in delivery of all kinds.
While the MC is great, the rest of the character introduced looked cool.
Then we finally get a good look at the big selling point for me on this show! The mechs and the main one looks awesome! The way they summoned it made me think of Custom Robo haha. Very cool.

By the way, has anyone watched the Tsugumomo artist's streams? The guy is seriously talented, and it sucks that the anime seems to be a cheap as shit cashin because the musculature/anatomy, fight choreography, and general artistic talent on display is top tier. It's almost like watching Murata work.
I hope there's at least some sakuga on display because jesus some of the fight scenes.

Picked Hunter x Hunter back up and I just got to the end of the Hunter Exam. I'm enjoying it so far but I don't know it just doesn't feel that special to me. I think the character designs are actually holding me back more than it should. I guess I need to see where the story goes after this.

Did I stop the purge of the thread? Gad Guard as been calling me to watch it for like more then 2 years lol, just finally got around to watch it.
You will have to educate me on who this Chamber is.
HxH is a slow buildup. The show really hits its stride about 30-40 episodes in and just keeps getting better and better.
I hope you're watching the full series rather than some old TV version.

It should be fine if you are watching it on any modern release. But when it first aired in Japan... they had... problems. Lol.

I like Turn-A a lot conceptually, and the soundtrack and art design are amazing. But overall as a series... I like 0080, G-Gundam, Wing, SEED, 00 S1, GBF, Thunderbolt and IBO more.

Dear god this episode. That was just brutal (and awesome) but I don't really feel good after that. Gon's selfishness kills me. Killua is too good for Gon.

Yes because litrally every single gundam has a way better OP than that terrible OP 2 of Turn A. I just reached it yesterday and it is a real let down.
Also most of Turn A has been dull, it finally picked up once they got into space but Im not a fan of this iteration of nuclear weapons are bad plot. Seed/Destiny did the cursed weapons of mass destruction better.
Ask haly to post some gifs of the amazing direction.

I suppose to each their own. G-Gundam is special, and I love it, but I don't really think of it as Gundam, more of a super robot show in Gundam trappings. GBF was awesome too, but that's an awesome toy commercial to me rather than a Gundam series as well.
All I hear about IBO is that it's melodrama Okadashit, you'd really put it over Turn A? I mean, I haven't seen IBO but...

If you ask me which the most interesting Gundam series is, Turn-A would top the list. If you asked me which Gundam series I would want to watch again, or would recommend others to watch, Turn-A would not be very high on the list. Tomino shows are all more interesting to talk about after the fact than to actually watch, because he's a really bad director!

I actually watched the entirety of Turn A on the couch with a longtime Gundam fan who convinced me to watch it with him, and I hadn't seen it before but he had. It was a really fun experience, actually.
I know, opinions, but still, maybe it's because I had someone with me who watched it before that I enjoyed it more.

Yeah, I would love for this show to do some justice to his art and the fights but to say I'm tempering my expectations is an understatement. I've sat in on him drawing and he is absolutely deliriously talented but two of those times he was also drawing a girl spreading her lips, if you follow, so...I kinda stopped tuning in.
