That was a good show, I thought. Didn't blow away the PS5 showing completely, but was better. For my tastes, anyway.

New Fable from Playground is real, so I'm delighted. Halo looked really good, confirmation of open world has my attention. Everwild looks a bit different & a bit special, I really want to see some gameplay from it. Avowed was a very nice surprise for me, as I thought it would be a possible mid-gen title if real, so that was a real bonus.

I'll be checking out the Hellblade 2 dev diaries. Looking forward to the Outer Worlds expansion. Keeping an eye on a few more titles after today as well, like Stalker 2. I know nothing about that one, but it was intriguing. In fact after today, I'm feeling really good about both PS5 & Series X to be honest. Think this next generation is going to be an absolute blast. So much to look forward to. Happy days for us gamers

I'm not comparing it to the ps5 reveal, they said they have 15 studios rn, they don't have that many established ips like sony. They have the money to fund AAA or AA games but they churn out this crap. They don't have gow, uncharted,tlou like games. Games were fine a lot of variety - main problem was very little gameplay and a lot of in-engine/CG footage, the likes of Forza, Sennua 2 and Fable etc...

EverWild probably looked the most promising but I couldn't get a feel of the moment-to-moment gameplay.

And thts OK. Sony's exclusives and what thy showed trumped what Xbox showed easily. The console exclusives I put come from ign tell them tht lol

People say this show was mediocre? Smh thk God the consensus on internet has spoken and gainers to professionals have stated it was a solid to great massive showing with gameplay as well. Compared to what was shown today Microsoft show was a travesty imo of course.

Sony also showed more games running on actual PS5 and not 3+ years away CG trailer.

Still using "in engine" (so PC with a 2080 or what?) for Forza... we all remember the downgrade for Forza 3 2D crowds and worse lighting.

After Sony have released Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. This was Microsofts moment to show and not tell. They spent the entire generation beating we promise we gonna have quality exclusives. The moment has arrived to show that and they failed. To show CG trailers and not even know the genre of a game (I'm looking at Everwild), this ain't the time to just show CG trailer or in engine trailer. We have been shown games far off from Microsoft for those games to either be cancelled (Fable Legends, Scalebound, Phantom Dust) or hyped but turned out to be B tier or average game (ReCore, Crackdown).

We needed a moment like the first gameplay reveal of Ghost of Tsushima where you introduced to the game in the form of gameplay.

How am I supposed to be hyped for Everwild, Fable or Avolved. What if Everwild is a Animal Crossing type game or strategy game I'm not interested in that genre, what if Avolved is a Outerwilds version of Elder Scrolls, smaller in scope. What if Fable is a flop like Fable 3. These ain't sequels to games that have already been successful in their previous entry. So for a first showing they should have shown mind blowing gameplay.

This was Microsofts time to say look we have a AAA new IP, or we can reinvent our old IP and get you hyped. Instead we got a bunch of VG trailers and Halo that looks like more of the same with basic graphics.

Im sure the team who made pillars of eternity will just suddenly shit the bed. Im sure you busted out the violin when Sony had zero gameplay of souls, horizon and spiderman lol. This was to show people what is coming.

At least the goal posts have moved from no games to no gameplay in trailers.

Yup ratchet looked next gen and was tons of gameplay. Even though ppl don't believe it Horizon had gameplay in there too

Where was the game play, where was the 12tf commanding presence and graphics? Where are all the Raytracing games and games taking advantage of vrs and velocity arch?

This was even worse than I imagined, because I knew why Greenberg and others were saying to temper expectations. Showing Ori again and Destiny. Where were the games from MS studios to blow us away. All I saw were CG trailers and cutscenes and even bad cg at that.

There's no forza or fable at launch and Halo looks very underwhelming, not withstanding its now open world.

But to be fair, Hellblade's 2 engine is also phenomenal. I can't wait to see how much or how little will be sacrificed visually in the actual game. It was such a letdown to not see anything Hellblade 2 related.

I agree. I wanted to see hellblade 2 as that at least is true next gen and would have set the bar of what to expect.

The medium was so average and the only reason they say it cant be done on thebold systems is due to the instant switching between the 2 worlds.

Otherwise this show was soo irrelevant and the obligatory but wait there will be more. We share more later bla bla.

But Sony have nothing to prove its Microsoft who do. They didn't show Horizon 2 or Demon's Souls gameplay but they just released 2 AAA games that reviewed and sold very well, 1 being a new IP while the other being a sequel. They showed Ratchet gameplay which to be honest looks better graphically than any gameplay shown from Microsofts exclusives. This isn't the time for Microsoft to show CG trailers especially after Phantom Dust reveal.

It's strange not a single new AAA first party gameplay reveal other than Halo Infinite which looks so average. And remember Halo 5 and 4 they weren't the best sequels from fans opinions so why should we be hyped. Didn't the director leave the studio, why Microsoft have a plan to add stuff later like ray tracing in this game, is this just being rushed out to hit launch.

What big games? A Spiderman expansion and Astro, a ftp cartoon game with bad graphics and a few timed exclusives for launch? Horizon 2 was the only big 1st party game I remember Sony showing and it was just a CGI trailer and it is NOT a launch game.

Everything at the PS5 show was real time on PS5, captured directly. They stated it explicitly at the beginning of the show. The Horizon stuff was real time graphics. Kinda funny you think it was CG. Think about that for a second.

Astro thing is an included demo. A free to play cartoon game? Did you see how many of those games at the Xbox were "cartoony"?

MS is dead if this is all they can do. They won't make any inroads at all globally and in the US I don't see them growing significantly. Sony and Nintendo will continue to stomp them. They literally lost my sale today it was so bad.

You sure? I can see no reference to Kena coming to Xbox for example. It says PS4/5 and PC hence the idea of "console exclusive." Do you see info that states otherwise? Console exclusive and timed exclusive are very different things.

The end result of "everyone gets a trophy" generation. Stagnation. No genre growth beyond a small graphics upgrade. If we saw what Fable looks like, then maybe. The Obsidian rpg looked decent and VR is a step forward, but we need to see more. Halo was hi-res Halo 1. This is being passed as ok from you, M$. It isn't at the level yet where you can make Halo look like that and think people won't see there's any difference.
