Yoshida: Xbox games on PS5 a ‘win’ for PlayStation owners

Is what people are worried about for third party on current Xbox machines going forward into a new gen.

How can Microsoft expect any next gen Xbox console to sell in numbers when everyone knows it’ll have zero exclusives?

Why should third parties support a console that doesn’t sell.

Xbox as a console brand is dead, it has no future and anyone who believes otherwise is deluded, completely deluded.

Pretty sure CoD is still killing it on the ps5. Probably more so than all the exclusives combined.
That's the only thing they really got.
But I bought Blops 6 and praised it for having the best gameplay in the franchise. Given that it's the first COD to release under Xbox, I'll give em that.

Unless there's some miracle MS can whip up for the next gen - yep, and I feel bad for everyone who like that hardware ecosystem. I think it's also the next step for moving away from GamePass entirely if they like the numbers they can push out on the other systems.

Microsoft’s future is PC, PS5, PS6 and Switch 2 with PC being the priority.

If Gamepass does have a long term future then it’s on PC, and that’s where Microsoft will likely push their Xbox users to in future.

Even that's going to be a diminished thing as people spread to other platforms. IMO GP was great as a means of attempting to keep people on a platform. If that platform is mostly gone along with your business strategy of selling games, what's even the point of keeping GP even as a means to keep people on a PC? It's not like people are going to drop PC if it's gone and still have a way to just buy the games they'd still have available.

Makes sense

PlayStation owners win
PS5 now gets games from studios that PlayStation consoles never got games from before.

Microsoft win
Microsoft’s games are now no longer constrained to PC and Xbox consoles, providing the quality is there, the games will sell

Xbox owners lose
Xbox Series S/X has lost a huge selling point, console exclusives. That small audience of 30 million is unlikely to grow and, as a result, Microsoft’s interest in their own consoles will wane too.

The only issue now is potential is Sony arrogance. With no exclusives anyone with half a brain will tell you a next-gen Xbox is dead on arrival.

They could target those 1.86B PC gamers by doing it the right way even without changing the power narrative, which is the top %1, around 20M, or the sub 1k build which is more than %40 of the total number if they want. And what they did recently won't change the fact that great games are coming from MS Studios.

Sounds like you should just game on pc, where you can play all the games using the series x controller.

Microsoft may allow you to play your digital Xbox library on PC to compensate for abandoning consoles

Sony have no reason to

Going from Xbox to PC makes way more sense than PlayStation to PC.

This is like a guy saying some obvious stuff and everyone being surprised. My competitor is now selling their product in my store, I get a cut of that.

Gamepass is hardly gonna grow on PC. So if they ditch Xbox they can kiss gamepass goodbye too. They are always gonna need a hardware platform to sell GPU.

But MS are stupid enough to give up 30 million subscribers thinking they are gonna get some kind of foothold on PC and PS. Xbox is gamepass and vice versa. Until I see then put GPU on other consoles ( which is never gonna happen) it would be foolish of them to ditch the box and even more foolish to think they are gonna migrate Xbox owners who’s fingers they have burned. People will just wash their hands of Xbox suck up the loss of money they spent over the last 20 years on the brand and keep it moving with with a nasty taste left in their mouths.

If Microsoft are smart, before going on this third party venture they will have carried out a cost/benefit analysis.

The results of this likely have shown that benefits of going third party outweighs the cost (the loss of Xbox and Gamepass).

They’d prefer to have their cake and eat it, but that’s pretty much impossible.

Someone Said Something of Common Sense: The Thread

And to a larger point that's all it is these days, isn't it? Gaming culture media is just people regurgitating what someone else said. I suppose it's nice from the standpoint of not having to go looking for all the news and blurbs ourselves, but then again the majority of what is reported on a daily basis in the gaming industry just isn't news or worth mentioning.

Yeah, we know, I'm happy and I'll support the games from MS that I care about, tho it doesn't make sense since they have a system to support as well, but hey! that's on them and the people trapped in the xbox ecosystem
