Yoshida: Xbox games on PS5 a ‘win’ for PlayStation owners

Always love how bush is laughing the entire time.

Makes sense

PlayStation owners win
PS5 now gets games from studios that PlayStation consoles never got games from before.

Microsoft win
Microsoft’s games are now no longer constrained to PC and Xbox consoles, providing the quality is there, the games will sell

Xbox owners lose
Xbox Series S/X has lost a huge selling point, console exclusives. That small audience of 30 million is unlikely to grow and, as a result, Microsoft’s interest in their own consoles will wane too.

The only issue now is potential is Sony arrogance. With no exclusives anyone with half a brain will tell you a next-gen Xbox is dead on arrival.
Why do Xbox owners lose? Does the fact that people can play the games on other consoles make them less fun for those playing on Xbox?

Maybe that extra revenue will allow Microsoft to make more games, making game pass an even better value?

Or maybe….. big maybe here, which many won’t like…. Some PS owners like these games and end up buying an Xbox next gen just for game pass… Doubt it will happen en mass, but I’m sure a few will switch over.

Because it diminishes the platform in the eyes of consumers, which results in low sales, which could result in Microsoft pulling the plug.

Yeah I don’t disagree that could happen. Personally I think I they are just coming to terms that hardware sales will be a smaller portion of their gaming business. As long as it is profitable, I feel they will still support it. Different model than the others, but not bad in my opinion given where they are.

I mainly play in PC, but when I get the opportunity to get the living room tv, play on Xbox. Will probably get the next gen Xbox to play game pass games for just that reason (unless cloud gets so good I do t need it).

Or maybe, not a big maybe here, which many won't like... MS sells so few Xbox consoles, it no longer makes financial sense and the Xbox console goes away altogether. And the fewer people on Xbox consoles (as they are leaving in droves) means fewer GamePass subscribers, which makes GamePass bleed money and ultimately shut down.

That seems to be the likely situation. But, if you want to believe PlayStation gamers are going to find a Microsoft published series they like and switch to Xbox to play it, even though everything is already on and will contine to be on PlayStation, go ahead and believe that.

The only people losing are the Xbox owners who bought an Xbox specifically for those games, because now they're stuck with a console with fewer games than the competition, and with inferior performance (compared to PS5 Pro).

You could be right.

It sounds to me like there is a lot of money put into R & D right now for the next gen. Who knows after that. I’m thinking they are hoping cloud takes over by then.

Remember, everything is an Xbox!
