Your title sounds like a korean soap tv show were a young down on her luck working girl falls in love with Iwata (RIP) due to a happy combination of circumstance, and have to help him keep the company afloat and fight back against the evil nintendo of america executives who are jealous of japanese work ethics and sophistication.

So that is what i would do. Find a hard working down on her luck korean woman, clone a new iwata using the gene-seed from nintendo biotechnical division, and secretly influence their lives so they meet and fall in love.

I know politics aren't allowed, but why should Nintendo be blamed for Trumps tariffs?

I dont understand this
Politics are not allowed. The answer though is that no one knows yet. Truly, i don't even know if Nintendo knows.

Nintendo moved production from China to Vietnam in 2019 or 2020, to help offset Chinese tariffs that have been in place. Nintendo did this in part to avoid Chinese tariffs and divide up production. Switch 1 was/is made at Foxconn in China.

To show an example right. The Japanese only region locked Switch 2 comes to $330-ish USD. Think about that for a second.
Japan does not have the same level of Tariffs (apparently).

Side note: Damn near everything tech is made at Foxconn. Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc.

So, under the new Tariffs that were just announced. Vietnam has one of the highest tariff rates. Shocking many. So, we don't know if Nintendo accounted for this. Kotaku, and some financial outlets are reporting that by ESA predictions Gaming industry will be hit hard by tariffs. Kotaku did the math and states Switch 2 could be around $700 if Tariffs need to be applied, and PS5 Pro was $900ish without tax. Closing in on $1k. Again, this is speculation. No one has commented or probably even knows quite yet.

Here is Eurogamer's article: https://www.eurogamer.net/trump-tar...-impact-on-games-industry-says-us-trade-group

Take everything with a grain of salt. No one seems to know yet.

The only rationale thing I think most people can agree on, is Nintendo's communication has been poor with the consumer and they tried to hide things instead of being upfront. Which may have contributed to people being upset and caused confusion.

I would make the games twice as expensive.

images

1.) I would work with everyone to have a "Please Understand video" for all social media and offer full transparency on everything about Switch 2. EVERYTHING! Pricing, game carts, upgrades, online, chat, 3rd parties, etc.

2.) With increased pricing i would guarantee a Pokemon Scarlet Violet situation never happens again at launch. Games would be delayed instead of releasing. Even if it missed holiday.

3.) I would discuss and evaluate all pricing strategies. Having multiple options for later if needed.

4.) I would ready more GC/3ds/Wii U ports for Switch 1 and Switch 2 upgrades (just in case you need to rely on Switch 1 the way Sony needed PS4 after PS5 launched).

5.) I would order a Switch 2 TV (instead of switch 2 Lite) be designed asap with full production in 2026. Target price must be between $250-$299.

6.) I would order a Wii Mini Classic be made for 2026 for the 20 year anniversary. 10 Games and two Wii motes for $149. Just in case!

I would release a big new MK game and a big new DK game and add GC to NSO plus some side games and enhance old Switch games and make Switch games b/c.

Not only I would improve the digital sharing within families and attract a lot more 3rd party support and show those games off at launch and make the eshop faster and keep the same form factor but better with new features.

Make the stand more robust. Make the screen bigger and beautiful. Keep the thinness the same. Make the sticks bigger and fix the drift. Make the joycons detach easier. Make it way a lot more powerful than the Switch. Add 4k and latest tech spec support. Add some new ways to play. And let me connect to power in tabletop mode. And let me chat and see my friends.

....that's probably too much to ask tho.

Not charge more than $70 for a game.

But no....nothing will change prior to launch.

I would change absolutely nothing. Everything is going exactly according to plan. Audiences have gotten whiney since Switch 1 launch but that is no reason to change anything. In this case the loudest audience is wrong. Ask your fans. Preorder numbers will tell you we are still in. Parents don't look at software prices they just buy what the kids ask for. Prices are fine for Christmas gifts and 10 dollars isn't putting off anyone in the mainstream. It's perfect. Let it fly. The haters were always gonna hate, they only win if you change anything.

I would change 1 thing, actually. I would make the Switch 2 tour game free due to backlash.

Ignore the complains and watch them cry as they still buy the console and our overpriced games.
Take it further too.

Pokemon:
-Make 3 $80 versions of Pokemon games now and straight up split the available Pokemon (including starters) by 3 among them (still no voice acting though).
-Make a bundle with all 3 version that's actually substantially more expensive than buying them separately, but it enters you into a chance to win a super rare physical "greedy Pikachu" pokemon card. (or have the card be in 3 random bundle packs or something. Still need to refine the idea)

Subscriptions:
-Increase the price of online multiplayer and the extra subscription (limit the ability to stack up to only 1 year, so people can't buy a bunch of years for the cheaper price)
- Add some sort of trophy/achievement equivalent but have it tied to the subscription service. If you stop your subscription you have a 6 months grace period where your achievement will be saved, afterwards they get deleted.

Classics:
- Release a bunch of cool classics collections for stuff like Zelda, Metroid and Smash.
- $150 each, limited run and then they get vaulted like Mario 3D Allstars

Mario:
- Go full on nostalgia and release Mario 64 2 (work on a more original title)
- The hub area will periodically get expanded with new worlds. They'll get released in sets of 3 for $30.
- Never create a bundle or cheaper "complete edition".

I think the launch line up is a little weak. Even though Mario Kart games have been wildly successful in the past I'm not sure it warrants the over $500 price tag. Neither does the DK game.

Switch 2 needed a must have game like Breath of the Wild, without that I don't think this console sells even remotely as well as the Switch 1.

Focus on a huge project to make a brand new AAA Zelda trilogy with a brand new story and art style similar to Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask or the HD WII U tech Zelda demo.

Make a new Mario Party that's as awesome as Mario Party 3 again and definitely include the Game Guy in it.

Make a smaller team focus on AA top down Zelda games

Huge revamp to the Metroid Prime series where Samus will actually talk as well as look good.
