It is incredible how a series that reinvents itself as often as Final Fantasy is also one of the most recognizable gaming franchises out there.
Personally I love IX, X, XII and XIV the most.
XIV has introduced me to people that had a profound impact on my life. Downloading the trial version on a whim because I was in a JRPG mood at the time was one of the best decisions I ever made.

FF15 was fun, 9/10 to me.
FF7 Remake in the process of playing it now with PS5 update, the story telling is killing me as if it's designed for 3yo kids. It's a good game overall but full of cringe and cheesy talk and jokes.

What I've learned from this tag wall is my eye is distinct AF.
I have a bad feeling about FF16. Nothing has truly impressed me from what I've seen of the game. The visuals remind me of ff14, the environment we have seen is boring, and I'm not liking the main character. I guess I'd give it to One Piece on that one. The manga has been going on for like forever and has been pretty great for the most part. I do have issues with it but I mostly enjoy it.
I've kind of given up on FF and can only look back on the franchise with nostalgia since the newer games ain't doing it for me.

Honestly that game with the horrible trailer "CHAOS" is a pretty fun gameplay experience and gives me a lot of hope for FFXVI. (How dare you just type FF16 you know better) The gameplay in FFXVI is being handled by the guy they poached from Capcom that was responsible for DMCV's combat which I found to be pretty good to amazing depending on who you were in control of. Also did a bit of research and one of the Composers for "CHAOS" also worked on the music in FFXI which is some of the better stuff out there. The music in FFXVI trailer flew over a lot of peoples heads but its a DIRECT rip of this From Final Fantasy XIV. (He does a better break down game is being handled by the same team that does XIV and sounds pretty ambitious story and game play wise. Its easily my most anticipated game.

I had Crystal Chronicles on the GCN. I really wanted to like it but thought it was underwhelming. The multiplayer requirements were awful.
Got the DS one and again, really wanted to like it but just didn't do it for me. Never played any other ones.
I should get CC on the PS4 though, I'd like to revisit it. I remember really enjoying the music and finding the mogs.

2) I liked it a lot back in the day, has square worthy presentation and stylish artistry, but the new version is shiite with broke-ass online multiplayer that don't work properly in my region and people just refunded the game when Squeenix didn't fix it. The game is its multiplayer mode, you aren't really playing it if you play single player. The most fun way would be with 3 friends who love FF and who are cooperative and patient, then play locally on switches I guess...good luck with that.
3) No, it'll be like playing the CHAOS trailer for 100 hours, modern Square can't human very well and it's not a translation thing since other modern jrpgs have great characters and stories. They just like the smell of their pretentious farts so much their head is upside they ass now
4) Sort of??? One piece is really fun in its best moments, until you get to the motivational flashback part of the story arc and then everything grinds to a halt and it's boring AF. These flashbacks go for like 12 episodes and are all about when this character was kid their sensei taught them to love baking or tennis or being a chiropractor and then sensei died or some shit and they swore to always love baking and to become the greatest tennis player in the world and they're gonna like, touch people's lives with chiropracticing (? backcracking)cause they're like so inspired or motivated or whatever. Can we move along please? They say we're on a cruise, but more like we still docked, yo

Thanks for the mention. I actually finished the DLC to the Remake yesterday. I’m going to grind my way to tackle the new VR missions. I’ve owned most of the games in the mainline series. I can’t think of one I haven’t owned, but the rhythm games I haven’t gotten. VI is one of my all time favorites next to 7-12. I’m big into the OST’s and merchandise.
I owned Crystal Chronicles back when RE4 was out later in the year. I haven’t played it since then. Carrying stuff wasn’t my thing. I can’t remember what exactly drew me away from it. I had a better time with Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus. I saw it was on the iOS store, but it was pretty expensive. I own the VIII Remaster on Switch and PS4. I didn’t exactly get it for iOS for that price. The only iOS entry I’m missing is the After Years and VIII’s Remaster. I really like the series. I just have breaks where I like to relive the journey and experience.

I'm lazy and 16 is easier on the head. I kind of figured that they took some developers from 14 and just shuffled them to 16. For some odd reason I keep thinking that this is going to be a lower budget FF game and most of the resources in squareenix for FF is going to FF7R. Considering we just got that FF7dlc yuffie just recently, plus they are still working on ff7r part 2, plus they are working on this game, and they were still working on FF14 shouldn't they be spread pretty thin?I haven't watched that youtuber in a while.

Series has gotten way way to anime.
As someone who’s played every main FF since release on the NES, let my tell you FF7 is over rated. Not saying it not fun or not a good game but it’s highly over rated and it’s only ranked as it is because it was a lot of peoples first FF.

FF8 still has the best character design in the whole franchise, imo. Mostly normal looking people, but with a dash of typical japanese flamboyance to not make them look boring or generic. I really wish more jrpgs would adopt (semi-)realistic character designs, instead of the 5 millionth game with anime aesthetics. FF8 was Nomura at his best (KH and the FF7 compilation on the other hand was him at his worst).
