Rants/Raves after the PS5 conference

Gamer79

Predicts the worst decade for Sony starting 2022
My Rants

1. There is nothing original for the xsx or ps5 that I am excited to play at launch. Don't care for reboots.

2. Game prices go up but content is becoming less. Almost every game has tons of content behind DLC pay walls

3. This generation is one the weakest launch in the modern era. There is not a "must play" game launching with either.

4. These are supposed to be 10+teraflop beast! The graphics are just not impressive for either console. Lighting is improved but it's eh at best. Craig is like a perfect symbol for this generation.

Everything looked very PS4 to me.

I'm just sitting here fapping with all of the tears from all sides flying around, lol.

Really though, God of War was the only thing I was personally excited about as everything is coming to PC. I mean, that's great, but I also really wanted a reason to get a PS5 ASAP.

i like the lineup of exclusives the PS5 is building, whether they be they full or console exclusive. i like the pricing. the PS Plus collection is cool

not keen on the cross gen titles. not sure what to make of Demon Souls news, as the way it's worded seems like an error. the increase in game price isn't much of a concern for me because i never buy full price anyway.

this gen isn't going to really get going until holiday 2021.

Final Fantasy XVI Announced as Exclusive! Holy S###!
Demon's Souls is a Launch Title! Holy S###!
Spiderman: Miles Morales looks amazing!
God of War: Ragnarok in 2021! Holy S###!
Launch is Nov 12 at $499! Holy S###!

So next year, we're getting Horizon 2, God of War Ragnarok, Ratchet and Clank, Hogwarts Legacy, and potentially Gran Turismo 7?!

Sony slammed it out of the park.

they didn't highlight load times

2s load times are monumental, megaton, rainbows and butterflies

i can't think of a better feature this gen, and i think people will notice right away...in person tho

It did nothing but convince me to stay right where I'm at which is on PC. Honestly I think it's just a sign of the times when it comes to gaming. I'm sure when God of War 2 comes out if its confirmed to be a actual exclusive I'll get a PS5 then.

It was actually a fantastic conference

Nailed the price. FFXVI console exclusive. Demons Souls and Spiderman for launch and both looked great. All the biggest names in gaming have been on their stage (COD, GTA, Fortnite)

Then they went and let all the air out of the balloon with the cross gen shit.
It was the worst conference of all 4 conferences so far, BY FAR imo. In fact it would of been a total trainwreck without Demon's Souls imo.

PC already delivering better results than both and Im getting the 3090..got a ps4 pro and one x...I don't see any reason to own the new consoles to be honest man

Yes.

Both Xbox and PS launches look bad, however of the two, PS launch looks better. But its still shit.

This will be my last generation since i am getting into photography so i will pick up PS5 not at launch, but when the true next gen games start showing up.

I think God of War Ragnarok will be one of the true next gen titles.

I think this event has convinced me to stay away from next gen consoles. Techically unimpressive, shovelware galore, increase in prices, games coming to PC too, seemingly very limited BC, new steps towards subscription model... wtf do they expect.

I will build a PC down the line and see what Nintendo does. Thisisbullshit.gif.

I was so happy with the trailers and the conference in general but then it's been stab after stab.

1. Spider-Man MM on PS4 too?
2. Horizon Forbiden West, one of my most anticipated games on PS4 too? WHAT? What are you doing Sony? They show us a crazy good looking 'engine' footage and then pull the rug on our hopes? Yes guys, if it's also on PS4 it will hold back its potential!!
3. Games more expensive.
4. Europe being 'Rest of the World' again.
5. No UI reveal or SDD potential shown.
...

Why should we upgrade from our PS4 Pro's? No reason .. in the meantime there's this agressive push to digital console that I get some people like it but to me it just screams the begining of a new era where the consumer has less options and freedom in the future. Well that's my rant, I love my PS games but these lattest news are awfull in my opinion.

If you play third party games run them at ultra or some very high settings to get the PS5 experience... This is next gen so far.

I'm pretty happy with my PS4 PRO and livingroom PC setup so far, that showed that I don't have to worry too much about my puny 1660ti (I also have a computer with a 2060 in it, it doesn't make much difference for the games I play... anyway it won't fit in the smaller case, and RT needs much better specs anyway).

I was happy with the news, but mostly because most of it is coming to PC. I wouldn't pick up a PS5 based on today's content and announced content. DMCV:SE, FFXVI, Demon's Souls will be great eventually on PC - though Final Fantasy didn't really impress me. Even without these not being exclusive, I still wouldn't pick up a PS5 yet though, no killer app as far as I'm concerned.

I think it’ll be a while before we see anything truly next gen on either system, even more so with how COVID is grinding the world to a halt.

Wouldn’t blame anyone for waiting out abit.

I have money saved up for both systems, but i have no reason to buy them asap. Until there's some serious next gen must have games, I'll wait. As excited as i am for a new generation, they have nothing exciting at launch. I was hoping Sony would bust out some awesome out of nowhere exclusive for launch but it's all good.

Eh, for the first time I'm kinda wondering if I really need this thing day one. I don't care about Demon's Souls, and even Spider Man MM is kinda meh to me. Is AC Valhalla gonna be on this thing around launch?

I liked quite a bit from the conference, Resident Evil 8, Final Fantasy XVI, DMCV SE and loved seeing Demon's Souls. I just find some of these decisions disheartening.

Now, rants:

- Why constraint Horizon:FW to a shitty 8 year old Jaguar CPU? Why? What else could the game have been like if they hadn't had to make sure everything ran on that shitty thing? The hell...

EDIT: I'm removing the below point, Demon's Souls isn't coming to PC.

- This weird porting of games to PC. I don't understand the purpose, it just devalues the PS ecosystem for a pitance of copies from Steam. It's not marketing, it doesn't expand the PC ecosystem...I just don't get it. It just takes away from the PS5.

- and finally...80 fucking euros?! Are you serious?! I usually wait until they are 40...guess I'll be doing a lot of waiting next gen.

Raves:

1) Excellent console prices. $399.99 and $499.99 is fantastic for next-gen gaming
2) Excellent accessory prices
3) Games look like a visual leap over current-gen
4) Launch year for PS5 looks fantastic
5) No time wasted on non-game stuff. They didn't fumble the ball by focusing on the USB ports or music apps at launch
6) PS Plus Collection -- if offered at no additional cost for current PS Plus subscribers -- is a great initiative

Rants:

1) Pre-order messaging is a clusterfuck. More detail on where and when you can buy a PS5 should have been at the end of the conference
2) Game prices going up. The cost of games going up should be married with a commitment to not microtransaction everything -- which we all know won't happen
3) Console UI and controller feature(s) overview (e.g. Create button) still M.I.A. It's time to show it.

Overall: A-, B+ish event. They nailed the most important detail (console price), so I'm (selfishly) pleased that I get to save a little bit of cash.

That's a piss take. Especially considering the games are cross gen.

And I'm sure that this will generally affect the prices from other publishers as well and 80 euros will be soon the new normal price for games on all platforms. I hope I'm wrong...

Nah bro. Demon Souls look significantly better than anything on previous gen consoles. It looks fucking mind blowing.

God damn some of you are hard to impress.

Nah you're not wrong, it will happen very quickly unfortunately.

What's worse is the fact that next gen will likely be predominantly digital sales.

I have maybe 40 + Ps4 games in my backlog, was looking forward to some non Jaguar ps5 games, looks like Ratchet is the only one to take advantage of next gen.

The rest can get in the queue, no hurry sony, if they were ps5 and a bit more ambitious, would of bought them all. Your greed, your loss.

I want to see a price war. Go on MS. Shave another 50 notes off both boxes 😈

I honestly think they might. PS5 preorders open tomorrow, and I’m sure that shortly thereafter we’ll get some corporate blowharding about ”unprecedented“ and so on, which will probably light a fire at Redmond. And I mean (and not to be disparaging), but I think given the hardware in the XSS, MS could probably eat a smidge more of the cost. $249/ $499 is a good value proposition for low > high end. And they wouldn’t have to touch the price for years, just keep adding value with digital game coupons and the like.

I've had such a bad time with drivers and swapping cards and especially getting controllers to consistently work that I was like "fuck pc"

But with system selling exclusives like demon's souls being pc, maybe I could try again to join the master race
