What purpose does this serve? C'mon man. So I've never seen the show...actually just started up Netflix after who knows how long over the weekend to watch Black Mirror. So the character is fictional but based on an actual Viking ruler? Is she supposed to be Mongolian?

Speaking of which, I like Black Mirror. It's actually a good example of diversity done right. Easier I guess cuz it's original storytelling, but they don't beat you over the head with LGBTQ stuff, though it's definitely in there. They don't exaggerate minorities. There's plenty for everybody in that show.

To people clamoring that ND/tlou2 is woke. It's not that. These are the staples I would consider for woke game:
-Characters exist JUST TO BE lgbtq+. No other traits are more important
-Old characters are replaced by those characters
-No traditional male/female roles allowed. At least not purely or if anything straight Man = bad
-Forced diversity
-usually game/character is woke where it absolutely doesn't matter and we don't need to know sexuality or political stances.
-Sweet baby inc - leading in woke writing. Slowly but surely manipulating the population to the point crap like Angrboda or playable atreus is acceptable. Nobody want to spend 2 hours with angrboda or play as atreus.... in gow game.

Some examples
-Saga is mild woke character. She would exist in the story no matter if she is white or black. Although we al know why she is black
-Female Ratchet only exists to have female in there. She has no purpose.
-Pregnant woman on battlefield in TLOU2? not woke. It's an apocalypse and their leader is an idiot. Could be bad writing
-Abby with huge gains in tlou2? not woke. there is a whole reason behind it. There are normal women too
-Trans kid in tlou2? Sure maybe but he serves purpose to show how religious that gang is which cast him away. Could be in any story. Seems believable.

Lev only reason to exist is to be a trans character that is dead-named and hunted for his diversity by bigot religious people.
And before you say that he\she act as a conscience for abby to not make her kill ellie, that scene was super fucking stupid to begin with, the chick got buffed and dreamed revenge for years because someone killed her father, but she forgive ellie that killed the love of her life and all of his close friends that she grew up with because a child that she meet 2 days before say so, dogshit writing from ND in that scene.

It doesn't get more in your face than that.

Even considering that, all the characters in tlou2 were so shit and unlikeable that he still was one of the more likeable characters just for not being directly annoying or a piece of shit.

But yeah, sp2 is much worse than tlou2 and insomniac definitely surpassed ND in the woke scale of sony devs.

Really? Maybe because I'm just now getting into it I'm not noticing this. So you think they are not doing diversity right? I mean it's a collection of short stories and individual episodes. I will say there was a stint where a lot of the episodes were British in nature, but even then...there were white good guys and bad guys. Black good guys and bad guys. Women protagonists turned antagonist. There was even a VR episode where seemingly straight guys may have been gay but then ended up not being gay...it was just the way the game affected them. There was an Indian lady who was "corruptible" and a demon who swayed her who was black.

Well you still got to feel for this company because things like that are supposed to be internal. It really isn't any of yours or my business on how they should run their company and how they want to shoot for things. At the end of the day I , we see the end result of their work. Granted they've made some pretty solid high profile games. Not all alone have been for me but some have. And it really has nothing to do with inclusion. If a company wants to try to run their business a certain way, none of us run that company and have really no right to criticize that. At the end of the day if this was just another rundown developer, no one would really be paying attention but we all know why some people are just posting about it. I'm not even the biggest fan of the company and still respect them as a work environment. So none of this is really fair on them so I hope that they stay strong. I noticed the first two seasons (orginal) were fantastic.

Then I saw Netflix's attempt with season 3 and it just didn't land like the the first two, lacked a lot of that soul and ambience. Have not seen it since cancelling over the Cuties shit years ago.

I have not mustered up the desire for another TLoU2 playthrough due to how oppressive/depressing the story felt, but I am getting the itch for those heavy 3rd person games as you put it. The gameplay was fantastic. It should hit differently now that I know the outcome as well.
