Bloober Team thanks gamers and critics for overwhelming positive reactions of Silent Hill 2 Remake

One never got the hate the team got. No doubt from people who haven't played any of their games and just going off what YouTube and Metric tells them to say

Have the say apart from not the best looking face models, the game is utterly amazing

It was absurd. I get that fans of the original (I'm one of them) were a bit wary of how this would work out in the end. But man, give them a freaking chance at least. I'm glad they pulled it off!

The wait was a roller coaster, I personally gave them a chance, lost hope, gained, lost again and didn't follow anything until release. Glad I was wrong

Yes, more so after the Medium which in many ways was like a love letter to Silent Hill.

I get fans wanting the original team to handle sequels, but for a remake, Bloober were a perfect fit

They're clearly a talented team. But Silent Hill 2 is so iconic so it was almost a kamikaze mission. You'll never please everyone. I am very happy they're getting great reviews and fans seem to like it. I'm going to play it tonight.

I get the issues over having the original team making a sequel. I'm the same for any Panzer Dragoon or Jet Set Radio sequel, and be a utter hypocrite if I made out otherwise , but a remake is different and Bloober showed they could pull it off with Medium. So I just never got the hate

I'm loving the game and love the new fog effect , its so amazing, much like how the PS2 impressed back in the day. Its so great to be back in Silent Hill

There is supposedly a group who are trying to review bomb the game or some such nonsense simply because they do not like the idea that Bloober suceeded.

"Struggling Konami" :D

As of October 2024 Konami Holdings has a market cap of $13.38 Billion. This makes Konami Holdings the world's 1357th most valuable company by market cap according to our data.

Crazy that you can make that much money and still be that far down the list. I'm guessing that is from the gambling arm?

Sure pachinko and hotels are a huge part of their revenue, but they have a lot of top-10 franchises that sell like crazy in Japan like Momotaro Dentetsu and Powerful Pro Baseball, there's DDR and BeatMania, and also the Yu-Gi-Oh! collectable card game.

Calling them "struggling" feels like an uninformed and very western lens to look at this.

To clarify, I never saw Konami as struggling, I just was expressing sympathy for Bloober themselves. I guess in the States I'm not privy to how successful Konami is overseas. Although I find myself picking up their collections on Steam over the years. So that's how I see/saw them. It feels strange to think they may be ramping up again, being so prevalent in gaming in my youth, they were inescapable and everywhere. Although clearly, they are fine where they are and do not need to even try to become a contender in the US market.

I was directly commenting on the article, not on your posts, sorry if it came over that way!!

And yeah Konami has shaped me and my gaming habits for so long (starting with Track & Field on Atari 800 in 1984), I wish they came back too :)

Game is indeed great but let's hope it also becomes a financial success. No matter how healthy Konami is as a corp if they don't get a good return on their investment they will stop their return to games initiative on their tracks.

🤷

Hopefully they didn't went overboard with the budget so they can make some decent money to warrant greenlighting more remakes from Blooper. My heart can't take another Dead Space situation.

Classic ea. game didn’t meet their internal sales projections and therefore dead space 2 remake was cancelled.
Oh wow, I didn't know that. Very disappointing, since the remake was great.

Well, at least we are finally getting an Alien: Isolation sequel.

(And hopefully a ps5 performance patch for the original)

That makes me wonder: has there even been more than 1 remake of a game in a series? I know there are several Remaster Collections out there, but as far as remakes, I cant think of more than 1 entry.

I'm hoping this game didn't cost them more than $50 million to make. Because they'll only need to sell 1.5 to 2 million units (at an average price of $50) to break even.
