So is this demon character thing specifically NB, or is that a characteristic of its species (i.e. they fluctuate back and forth between sexes, like a starfish or something)? I think there is room to explore a character that, perhaps unwillingly, has to transition genders and then starts thinking and feeling in an entirely different way as the hormone mix radically changes.

But to make it an unavoidable "lecture" in the middle of the game...no thanks!

The demon looking race is the Qunari. Nothing previously established in the lore about that afaik, just injecting modern gender issues into the series with this entry.

Dunno about the rest of GAF, but for me:

They ditched the good ol' CRPG combat for action combat.
Very bland art design.
Cringe dialogue.

Personally I get the plight of the marginalized minority community, but unfortunately it comes with a price. Stuff like this in dragon age will stand out as as strange and maybe unnecessary. But if it happens to make a trans person happy and feel like their life is worth living because they don't think people see them as some sort of anomaly or biological mishap, I am all for it.

The dialogue generally seems very poor. I have heard a bunch of it and then I saw someone quoting Skill Up's review regarding the dialogue and it was spot on. It's without nuance and is always very cautious about offending anyone.
The art design is really disappointing too. Could have been a dark, gritty, gorey DA game again but no, they had to make some sort of Fortnite-esque style.
I also dislike the accents of the characters. But that's my preference really and I know the older DA games had similar accents.

From what I've seen in reviews/discussions, there's no negative dialog options so it's more of a positive only dialog for flirting.

i've been saying since gameplay footage that the gameplay just doesn't look fun or good at all.

it seems that was the case after all.

the combat just looked bad from the get go.
