Which is why I don't agree with some other topics that suggest EA is paying for good reviews. There's no money involved, but It's worse, they're extorting them by potentially denying review copies.

Makes sense, no? Why provide review copies when they're clearly not going to enjoy it. And if these influencers and content creators, or whatever it is they call themselves, really want to review the game despite most likely not enjoying it, then they can get it themselves when it releases. Mortismal's was disappointing. Glossed over some of the stuff, basically to avoid anything controversial and didn't mention or show any of the stuff that was of major concern or controversy. I'm done with people that don't want to address things that are very clearly being vocalised. They're not more of less trustworthy than IGN or whatever. My point was why would a publisher be required to send review copies to people who were very critical of said game? Chances are they're not going to like it. From a business perspective, why would a publishers indulge them? They're free to get the game whenever it releases and then review the game for their followers.

Well, to be fair, isn't denying some outlets a review key and setting up an embargo a few days before launch kinda sketchy? There is a period of at least a week where reviews score can be artifically higher as these reviewers have to wait until launch and then actually play the game. What's make it more bizarre is that some people who were denied the review key were invited to a preview event a month earlier

He said people who like a good RPG should keep an open mind and not write the game off just yet.

Bro, he said it was his GOTY and the best game in the series at the end of his review:

"so as a conclusion the base game of Dragon Age The Veil guard is $60 us and for that price I think you're getting a great game that does a lot of things really really well that makes it as far as I'm concerned, the best entry in the series, and frankly my own personal game of the year. So probably needless to say at that point I'm absolutely giving this one a buy I think you should check it out I think it's very good and while I acknowledge that continu shift in direction from the original game isn't going to be for everybody this is still a great game and that is where I'm going to leave off this particular review"

yeah it's definitely shitty.

But like i have no argument against EA that i could win, they can do what they want which is my point.

I do think it's dumb and likely gonna hurt them in the long run though.

He's never touched on it and has strayed away from controversy before and focused strictly on the game as-is. He's vocalized it as such in several reviews and it's evident in every one he puts out that mechanics are his main focus. Feels more like you want him to tackle culture war shit than anything.
