Assassin’s Creed: Shadows Day One Patch will make certain shrine objects indestructible and eliminate civilian NPC bloodshed

Man, when did AC lose the plot?

I remember playing the first one and the idea was that it was a machine that through the DNA found the memory of your ancestors or some shit. Sure, it was bad, but I remember in that game, if you killed civilians, you lose synchronization and would get a game over. I might be misremembering stuff, it was what 20 years now? At least there was a game reason to not kill civilians. Not sure how this game will do things, but whatever, doubt I’ll buy any time soon.

Valhalla literally became God of War with the DLC.
To be fair, DLCs both in Odyssey and Valhalla do take you to a more fantasy side of things. The base games though (especially in Origin and Odyssey) have been posed as more historical angle to gaming and do have those Discovery mode options, which Ubisoft touted before.

Valhalla though I feel lost the plot with “nice” Vikings and none of that killing innocents, raping and pillaging stuff that they were well known for.

I think it’s still the same thing. You get desynchronized for killing too many people. If you killed one, you got a warning, and more would result in a desynchronization. Here, I think you can’t kill civilians at all.

In Valhalla you role-played as a fucking viking and the game desynchronised you if you slaughtered civilians during raids and the likes.
In Shadows you role-play as a Samurai and the game lets you kill civilians without desync, make it make sense.
Haven't checked yet whether you can kill civilians with Naoe or not, but man this is so fucking funny, ubisoft just can't win and at this point I can't even tell anymore if they're just shooting themselves in the foot all the time or if the whole world is against them regardless of what they do.

It's just a game in the end. This game isn't running for office. But I guess Ubisoft will do anything to appease the masses at this point (except making good games).
Let's exaggerate a bit.
Image the game where your parents in their home (properly depicted and referenced) would be creatively and brutally killed and it was released for everyone on the pretext of being "fiction, its just a game"
Depicting actual people in fiction setting is forbidden for a reason. And some go further as to forbid depicting things of very high importance for certain group of people for similar reason.

Honestly, in what world we're living if someone has to compromise their creative vision (whatever it is) just one day before launch to please some random motherfucker who got offended by some stupid shit in a piece of entertainment, which is not even real and a work of fiction as all games are?
Welcome to the real world where there is a lot of restrictions to real "creativity freedom"

The irony of wanting to censor a game because the people you despise champion it too. Removing something from the game is definitely censorship, regardless if you agree with Japan that it can be seen as disrespectful.

I mean, remember when black people complained that a white guy was only killing black zombies in Resident Evil 5, a game based in West Africa, so Capcom had to turn around and include white zombies to appease them.

Kinda dumb but I also don’t care? It won’t impact the actual game other than “oh hey this random thing isn’t breakable”

Oh no whatever will I do

The Japanese crying over this was 100% because it was a black character hitting the chairs in the shrine. If it was Japanese character zero fucks would be given.
It is pretty odd. Really makes them look like complete fools to start dictating what's in games after they put out countless western medieval and Chinese history games that are anything but historically accurate. Or you know, all the insane shit they've done with Japanese history games.

Wait, vikings did this ? They are not the benevolents protectors of Europe against the evil Cristhians ?

The japanese officials were investigating this "shrine" destruction thing, the problem with most of people is that they think just because nobody there says a thing it means the japanese doesn't care (like most of people aways don't cares when its about others culture). They are very sigilous when its come to investigation, and the shrine officials made clear this will bring the worst type of tourists, causing what they call tourist pollution (tourists that goes to another country only to do shit).

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
My favorite part of the first game was the end where you fight the Al Mualim after he has cast a spell on all of the townspeople and made you fight clones of all the people you’d assassinated previously in the game. I remember learning about these techniques in high school. And then you fight Al Mualim himself and he makes clones of himself, like eight or nine of them. Had there been ten or eleven clones, I would have been upset. But eight or nine clones is still historically accurate. Then he uses magic to teleport around. That wasn’t in any of my school history books but it must have been real, AC is historically accurate after all.

He knows this, but he has no other argument though so he's doubling down. The fact is Ubisoft has pushed the new version of AC, which is everything from Origins forward as being as "authentic and historically accurate" as possible. They even started an initiative in 2017 of pushing the Discovery Tours in schools as historical and educational tools.

I mean, remember when black people complained that a white guy was only killing black zombies in Resident Evil 5, a game based in West Africa, so Capcom had to turn around and include white zombies to appease them.

In hindsight, that's when all this shit started happening...

This political correctness has been a cancer since its inception and it's always been motivated by pseudo armchair activists for nefarious purposes (i.e, clicks, agenda pushing, persecution complexes).

Also : we have the West (i.e, America) to thank for this, things most definitely weren't like this 15-20 years ago in more conservative countries like Italy, Greece, Serbia, Spain etc, I basically experienced this cancer literally spreading as a European.
Nowadays, every comfortable idiot with a 1000€ phone, a 1000+€ PC, paying 800+€ for rent, a 20000€ car is suddenly all about "human rights", deep into "politics" (American usually for some reason even though they shouldn't be giving 2 fuck's) and everything LGBQT related.

There's a saying in my country : "He who eats/tears his own clothes", meaning, a person always finds a way as to find everything "problematic" (as to cover for other personal deficiencies usually).

All this shit happening because Ubi decided to put one big bear like, controversial, black man into the game. All those historical time and they had to choose him. And now people become hysterical about everything from this game.

If they didn't put Yasuke into this game and instead put some Japanese dude, no one would said anything. I'm nearly sure about it. Because everyone knows that if same countryman kill each other or vandalise, no one cares because it happens all the time. But if an outsider do the same things, people become agitated and don't accept the situation.

So as a result it IS really Ubisoft wokeness' fault that all this shitstorm is happening. I'm saying this a person who loves AC games and settings. They had limitless choices but they HAD TO put a black man in historical Japanese game 🤷‍♂️ . Idiots.

PS: Again, I'm not racist, I don't have anything against black people. I don't ever discriminate them or other races. Racism is so low key that you had to be a total imbecile and brainless to support it.

What do you mean "Depicting actual people in fiction setting is forbidden for a reason"?
Leonardo Da Vinci was a real person.
Bill Clinton is a real person and is still very much alive and just last year I saw him being depicted in Call of Duty with my own eyes?

I believe you don't even need permission to depict public figures if I'm not mistaken, you just need permission from private individuals.

Yes, you need a consent to depict. And it's often widened beyond private
And clearly UBI didn't get consent from shrine governing body (priest himself told his disapproval)

There used to be a phrase in English for dealing with this type of person: "Physician, heal thyself", but it's been out of use for quite some time now.

I guess we still have "mind your own business", but that just doesn't have the same ring to it.

No one needs to be a racist here. Go back three mainline games and Bayek was probably the second best protagonist after Ezio, partially because he was perfect fit for the setting.

In this game they not only failed to make that match, but doubled down by trying to sell Yasuke as a historical character even though his history is largely based on loose speculation and not facts.

In fairness that was a hallucination of the player. It's a reference to the historically accurate order of Assassins chief secretly administering hashish to the fidaeen in order to control and motivate them. His "spell" was drugging them, but yes it's just a video game not a history book.

They heard some people wanted Japanese games to be censored and took that to mean games set in Japan.

This is the real problem. They had so many amazing options and they go with the lowest hanging fruit for virtue signal points. Get fucked.

Why Are You Crying What Happened GIF by Paramount+

You need your RTX shrine destruction for extra historical realism of playing as a black samurai and
giving Nobunaga's sister the BBC treatment
?
Yes. It's ubisoft's fault anyway if I want to destroy a shrine and killing civilians. They give me the weapons. Gun kills, not the people using it

But he was a real Samurai wasn't he? So it should be fine.
But also AC isn't historically accurate. But Yuske was probably a real Samurai.

Censorship in a fictional setting in a game series where you literally killed the pope once......
Horrendous bullshit. Fuck those religious nuts.

It’s uncertain. Heavy evidence suggests he was, but there’s also some other things implying he wasn’t.
no, its not uncertain, he was a servant/retainer of Oda that served him for about 1 year and vanished after Oda death, the only piece of paper that say he was a samurai is a book wrote by some white dude, the same book that is used as "material" for this game.

If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. I don’t see what the big deal is.

Lets be real- i’m sure a mod will come out to unlock this stuff anyways.
