More Power, Smoother Gameplay

With 10x the graphics performance of the Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch 2 delivers smoother gameplay and sharper visuals.

The portable screen has G-Sync? Fucking nice.

They dropped the ball a bit imo not mentioning all this stuff on yesterday's presentation, all this is very good news.

Isn't an advanced version of DLSS unlikely as it requires ai accelerators on the GPU? So it would likely be a software solution, same issue with the people saying FSR 4 could work on a PS5/Series X.

It has Tensor Cores. That's what is needed for DLSS.

10x more GPU power... If they aren't bullshitting with other metrics, that's a 4 TFLOPS docked mode. How the fuck your own games look so dated, Nintendo?

What's "engineer-years" ?
It's "man-hours" (aka if you have a team of 10 people, and it took them 10 hours to do something, that's 100 "man-hours") multiplied out by years (8760 man-hours) to get "man-years". Man-hours is the correct English term, but the DEI shit has made it inappropriate to use the last few years, so now it's usually "person-hours" but is often substituted with what the person does, hence "engineer-years".

I bet it's 5070 marketing all over again, but I firmly believe that Nvidia managed to make PS4 Pro GPU with tensor cores, which is plenty for their goals.

10x the power of the Switch is probably true, the footage I saw of Cyberpunk running looked pretty damn good with excellent looking character models and what looked like proper ray traced lighting.

Sure, it was a bit choppy at times, but it ran pretty fucking nicely for what was a ~7 week old port.

HDR, freesync, 120hz, and mouse controllers all combine for a pretty nice package

It could be but doing a console reveal and showing games not looking as they should is not a good look for Nintendo

Yep. Plus Nintendo itself have devkits for a long time, but they are allergic to any form of anti aliasing in their games (starting with Wii U).

Its a shame because I was really thinking about buying Switch 2 to play both Zelda's with DLSS but the footage I saw yesterday tells me the ryunjix remains the best version unfortunately

10x the graphics power of the Switch puts it significantly ahead of the PS4. I assume this metric includes DLSS.

The same company that stated that 5070 is better than 4090 :messenger_grinning_sweat:
It's obviously with the AI stuff factored in, they don't disclose which DLSS version is supported though.

I've stopped giving a shit about Nvidia's x multipliers. Any actual numbers please? RT intersections, TOPs, FLOPs etc?
See my comment above, assuming no bullshit (best case scenario) this is 4 TFLOPS docked. Honestly unbelievable, but crazier things have happened.

This absolutely should have been mentioned yesterday!
Nah, no one besides nerds like us even know what this does or really cares. You don't obfuscate your game and console reveal with tech mumbo jumbo.

They showed a 720p vs 1080p with a 30x zoom on Mario's face as if they were DF. Imo at least name dropping DLSS would have done wonders for the presentation.

4TFlops was always the rumor for docked mode so I guess the rumor was right?

CDPR confirmed that the playable version they had for the Switch 2 has only been in development for 7 weeks. They have yet to implement graphic modes or DLSS.

I highly, highly doubt it's 4 TF. Likely 4 TF "equivalent". It looks like the power consumption profiles are way too restricted to hit those raw numbers.

If they are using DLSS why are the games they have shown so far full of jaggies? It doesn't make sense
Late devkit delivery is my assumption and that many of them didn't bother to implement DLSS at all. But let's remember that Nintendo always has this jaggies fest in their trailers for some reason that end up not looking nearly that bad in actual games.

I think that's factoring in DLSS. Besides, TFLOPs is just compute, not total GPU performance, which really cannot be summarized by a single metric.

Switch 2 is pretty neat, the $450 price is acceptable, but it's weird they didn't highlight these feautures better in the direct.

If they had stayed away from $80, people would be fully on board.

That's what I think too, but they did say 10x graphics processing power. That's referring TFLOPS combined with ROP and TMU performance.

I don't know that I agree with that. They brought 4k, HDR, etc to the table and made a big focus on a lot of technical aspects of the switch 2, including a demonstration of how much better 1080p could look over 720.

Capitalizing on the current wave of interest in AI to then say that the switch 2 uses the latest AI upscaling techniques to make your favorite games look and play even better than ever before seems like a very strong selling point. I don't think that is any more complicated than

all of the other mumbo jumbo mentioned here.

I don't think anything shown so far is using DLSS. The system is technically capable of it, but it is not free, and if used it will use up much more of the system resources (relatively speaking) than on a big PC GPU. So it might not be worth it in many cases.
