Switch 2 is much more obvious to the average dumbass consumer. Everyone knows that an iPhone 15 is newer and better than an iPhone 14. The "Super" naming doesn't communicate the "sequel" idea nearly as well.

I would've preffered that honestly. But at the same time,I can see why they went with the safe iteration route. The masses are dumb as bricks so the easier you make it for them to understand it's the "new" thing,the better.

Plus after the Wii U confusion disaster I bet they were shaking in their boots coming up with the right name.

Super Switch is a way cooler name IMO but I can 1000% see idiots conflating "Super" as just "same Switch but bigger" (eg what they did with N3DS)

Since it's an iterative console, they had no other choice than naming it 2. Super Switch or whatever would just sound like a Pro version, not a successor. For the next platform they'd have to abandon the Switch naming altogether.

Always thought it was dumb when people came up with 'Super Nintendo Switch'. Kinda scary that Nintendo considered it at some point.
Honestly? After the Direct and additional info, I'd kinda say that the console name was the only thing they got totally right, lol.
