Gamers Nexus: Get it together, NVIDIA | Terrible GPU Driver Stability

9070xt here. Only issue i'm having is constant crashing in CP2077 when using pathtracing. Normal RT is perfectly fine.

Otherwise- GPU has been problem free in Helldivers 2, Days Gone, COD, Remnant 2, HFW and Spiderman Remastered.
yeah and that aint the GPU for pathtracing anyway, so it's a moot point. But I had the same issue, too.

Im legit starting to wonder if we will ever have a GPU capable of rendering pathtracing natively.

Driver problems on PC? naaaahhh that never happens. It's as streamlined an experience as you can get. Just click on an icon and you're good.

Pathtracing runs fine at 1440p balanced upscaling (xess). Benchmark run landed me 68.75fps average.

What this game needs is FSR4 to make it viable.

I've had no issues since removing the nvidia app. The first thing I'd recommend to anyone is blowing that app away to see if it resolves any "driver" issue.

Yeah, I have not been impressed with that app. The only worthwhile feature it has is the ability to switch DLSS .dlls.

However, I find that DLSS swapper does a much better job and is much easier to use.

at this point i'm thinking we'll need dedicated path tracing GPUs like that Bolt Zeus GPU in order to properly render

raster and RT workloads for the main GPU, and path tracing offloaded to the 2nd Zeus

Power consumption would be through the roof but we'd get good framerates at least

My apartment gets hotter than the devils rectum in the summer, so no way I'd do it.

Ray tracing is one area I do think AI could positively impact performance.

I'm just glad we're sticking to fully ray traced games now. path tracing will not be mandatory in another 10-15 years and by then the tech will have been ready for a couple years

I second this 100%. The old nvidia control panel, as unsexy as it is, works perfectly AND DLSS Swapper does the only thing I'd need from the NVidia App.

I upgraded to 5070 Ti this tuesday... still have nvidia app. No idea what driver version I have to be honest but I think it was latests has I just used nvidia app to reinstall it "clean".

No problems so far. Been mainly playing Cyberpunk 2077 & enshrouded

I agree that it's likely clickbait, but it's a massive hassle imo to use DDU and re-install on a machine you have a lot tied up in besides gaming.
Tbf you rarely need to do a DDU even to downgrade the driver (and I implore everyone to actually avoid using it when upgrading unless you're running into some issue with that).
The new app has that option built-in for example and several times when I've been experimenting with drivers I would just install an older version on top of a newer one with zero issues.
It's not as hard as some people making it sound. In case everything will go FUBAR use DDU.

dgrdsv dgrdsv dgrdsv dgrdsv great drivers from NVIDIA uh?
Yep, drivers are fine, I'm not seeing any issues. If you're making your opinion from YT clickbaits then that's your problem, not the driver's.

He also tried to argue that the 4000 series was a bigger shit show than the 5000 series.
And you're just lying now. But that's exactly what I expect from an AMD fanboy.

Agreed on DDU- only use when necessary. I went AMD -> Nvidia -> AMD and didn't need DDU.

Trying to troubleshoot my son's driver issues. Getting these errors in Event Viewer:

"The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer."

I've removed current drivers and installed a prior version from last year. What a pain in the ass.

Did you try just not installing the nvidia app? It's really not needed at all.

That was the first thing I did. His initial problems was the black screen crap. Removed Nvidia app, but still happened so tried installing prior drivers and now PC is crashing. Bit of a loss now.

I don't believe you. According to a certain shill...all these issues are made up crap from youtubers...stop saying this and making nvidia look bad.

You might have answered this previously, but what is your exact GPU?

The one having the issue is my son's 3060 ti.
