UK charts: DmC launch sales are just a third of Devil May Cry 4's

Cheesy as fuck anime dialogue/writing aside... Nero has fucking swag. I wouldn't mind return of a more bad ass older Nero in DMC5. Just delete Kyrie from the franchise or have her die in the opening scene by the hand of Vergil setting the tone for the game.

If they can make Nero as awesome as Dante was in DMC4 then I wouldn't mind them both being in DMC5.

Also fully support Kyrie dying a horrible death right up front.

HD collection for Onimusha wouldn't really sell. Didn't Onimusha 3 kinda underperform (but not totally bomb) in comparison to 1-2? I dunno, but the series never really striked me as "popular"/non-niche in comparison to Biohazard/Devil May Cry/etc.

HD Collection for Onimusha also wouldn't work because of prerendered backgrounds. I'd love to see Oni 3 in HD, though.

I think Nero has to develop into his character and not just be a Dante clone. They tried doing that in DMC4 but it just ended up being too wannabe. Nero should be like a cross between Vergil and Dante.. not too serious but not goofy cheesy serious all the time either. Nero actually has a more humanized character than either of those and they should retain that... Just delete Kyrie.

Onimusha is just the right game to be making a remake for. Just like NG a whole generation of consoles went by before getting a remake. They don't even have to target 60FPS, hard lock on or other stuff like that.

Killing Kyrie would make Nero unbearable for the entire game. Just take her out of the equation altogether.

He would man the fuck up and actually push himself to the limit to get his vengeance. Nero going ape shit on Angelos and fucking smacking them around to get to Kyrie was bad ass.

Of course we could have yet another "dark soul with light" moment...

It was but I enjoyed the less serious moments of Nero as well and killing Kyrie would probably just turn him into a raging Kratos wanna-be. Nothing badass about that.

Just have him (with or without Dante) deal with Mundus to save the world (and consequently loosen his grip on Vergil *wink wink*) instead of trying to save some non-character the player doesn't care about.

Onimusha 3 had that somewhat famous French flim actor Jean Reno (Leon the Professional with a very young Natalie Portman (1994), Ronin) play a protagonist next to Samanosuke Akechi in the game and it still wasn't enough to shore up the numbers. I remember Capcpom had a knack for bringing in some famous actors and using their likenesses and voices for the main protagonists in their games during that era.

As a matter of fact the main character in Lost Planet 1 (Wayne) had the likeness of a famous Korean actor used.

They were really pushing and experimenting with a shit ton of many franchises back then, sad to see most of them got buried in the transition to the HD era.

Injustice thread is pumped about seeing Superman go off the deep end. New Tomb Raider fans seem pumped about seeing Lara Croft jam an arrow into a guys neck. Raging psychopaths are awesome.

Am I the only one who actually liked the poor Kyrie?

Kyrie said fuck all the entire game then had a few lines during the ending.

I don't think I could have given less of a fuck about a videogame character.

She didn't bother me, either. If anything, I was just disappointed that they didn't elaborate more on her history with Nero (wasted potential was a problem with just about every NPC in DMC4's cast). Basically, the problem was knowing that Nero cared for her, yet there being nowhere near enough effort put into getting the player to empathize.

it deserves poor sales. the game could be good if they let you play for more than 2 seconds before the next cutscene.

walk in to a room -> cutscene -> kill 1 enemy -> cutscene where a new enemy gets introduced -> kill him -> cutscene a door opens -> walk trough that door -> cutscene.

i'm 2 hours in and i think i played for maybe 10 minutes and the rest is cutscenes. who designs games like that?

This is my number one hate about the gaming industry right now.

If I wanted to watch a film, Id buy a blu ray or DVD.

I'm a big dissenting voice against cinematic games but come on..while DmC definitely does have more instances where control is wrenched from the player, they are not that bad compared to previous ninja theory games.
DMC4s story makes DmC look like the best thing ever written.

It's funny you say that when DmC end dialogue between Kat and Dante is basically exactly the same exchange as between Nero and kyrie.

Both male characters are unsure of what they have become and what it means to them and both female character are just reassuring them that they are still good people.

Weird how you think one is bad and the other good. They are basically the same thing.

Yup true, but unlike Donte, Nero ends in a awesome "LETS ROCK!" and then you fight a horde of enemies while the credits roll. THAT IS A DMC Credits Roll. I was dissappointed that didn't happen in DmC. Instead we get a behind the scenes video... which was short. =/

I do hope DmC Sells enough for Ninja Theory to be hired for another studio/job. Maybe a Onimusha remake or something. They have lots of talented people and great artist and vision, their only problem was the execution of the gameplay and story to some extend.

To be honest by the end of the game I was pretty sick of DmCs enemy waves. I wouldn't mind wave upon wave of stigains and the odd dreamrunner, buzzsaws and single rages but miss me with tyrants and the color coded enemies. They are more irritating to fight than fun.

It would just be easy enemies, just to have fun and do combos while the Credits roll and maybe get a "EXTRA ENDING" by defeating 100 enemies like in DMC3 and 4.

Oh well, we are just wishing. But DmC ended quite abruptly... it needed something else.

Donte's un-crazy nature was one thing that I really didn't like about DmC. I mean, he was well written and way waaaay better developed than anything in DMC4 but I don't need a realistic or even relatable protagonist in my character action games. I need him to be fun or a badass or both. Donte was neither.

But he did those "Awesome" landing slides like 30 times! That has to count for something!

=P

Would seem straight up weird to take Kyrie out of the equation or kill her. She's an important character to Nero. Would be like killing off Trish and Lady.

This game is basically the poster child for how not to reboot a series (although TR might change that). Especially early on when they first announced it and they seemed to almost be hostile toward fans the series. This was especially stupid considering that DMC isn't some massive franchise where you can afford to potentially piss off hardcore fans. CoD might be able to get away with it since it sells 15m+ units per entry, but DMC is something that's almost completely driven by the hardcore. You can't afford to annoy them.

I'd be surprised if it even reaches the 2m mark that they're apparently hoping for. The next game might be able to do it even if it is another NT develops game. They weren't the problem as much as the message was.

I think Kyrie needs to be removed. Killing her off early would shape Nero and I don't think he would develop into the personality of Dante.

He doesn't seem to have that basic carefree personality. I just imagine him as loosing his innocence and becoming more serious. More Vergil like and not Kratos.

The entire incident in DMC4 probably made Nero lose his innocence and become more serious. His world did get turned upside down in the game, got his ass fucked up and mocked by his uncle his never knew of, got his girlfriend kidnapped, found out the people he cared about and worked with were the bad guys, and he has a demonic arm. Any more "shaping" of Nero through sacrificing people he cares about and we would end up with a DMC2 "Harvey Dent" Dante.

Couldn't even make it through the demo because of this.

Please developers, just let me play your damn game!

This sort of thing was ok in God of War 1 where you entered a new area and the camera pulled out to show you it, then panned over to show you where the exit was, but now games do this stuff so often it's impossible to get into a gameplay flow. It also completely kills replay value.

Death by a thousand micro-cutscenes.
