Beat the dragon and the demo ended. Went back in and another quest appeared! Bought the valkyrie halberds from the village. Going to unlock more of it tomorrow.

I can't beat the first boss... I get a ways in, I'm using Aero with my mage and hitting her with everything else I've got and trying to use the Bravely Default system as best I can, but eventually she just starts throwing Aerogas at me and 1-hitting everyone in my party one-by-one.

EDIT: Nevermind just beat her with two of my party members down. I'm going to try that again so I can get those tasty job points for everyone.

Just beat the Automaton, his heals are rididulous.

A tip,
after you beat the dragon you can go back and use him to grind levels on.

Sadly there looks like there are caps on the amount of damage magic can do, the result was my knight was doing more damage than my blackmage, with 2 hand and buff up.

Wasn't too found of it at first, but it gets more fun after progressing a bit. Longest demo I've played in a while.

I don't really understand how the bravely/default system works, is there an easy explanation?

Basically you can use up to 3 future turn on the current turn, this means you then have to wait until you catch up, I have found its normally best to use the healer on every turn so you can heal when its required and use the damage dealers flat out (x4 brave).

Using default will result in a defensive stance where you take less damage and increase your BP by 1, which is basically a stored turn.

OK so basically, complete missions, go back to town and report for rewards, I assume this is pretty much how the demo and eventually the game will be right?

Gonna take a break for now and try to beat the
rock turtle
tomorrow.

Will this reset after every battle?

Leaving 3DS in sleep mode all days long, that's how you rebuild a city :lol
You have plenty of streetpassing with the amount of 3DSs you have at your household ;P, even with my OG 3DS atm I have 5 villagers now =D

The mechanics are the same the structure of the everything is different, even specifically says before the demo that this will be different in the main game, in that the demo is unique in that everyone gives a quest to you within the city.
Will this reset after every battle?

Yes, but sometimes when you enter a battle, the enemy or you may be given 1 extra BP.

I'm so jealous of you guys! Aaagggghhhh!

I'm glad to hear that the impressions are mostly positive. This game definitely needs more hype behind it.

Wow goddamn it, did I literally just come across this thread when I was going to go to bed? Guess I'll have to survive with less than 6 hours of sleep.

"Norende's" village shops in this demo are capped at level 3 btw.
Edit:
Level is capped at 20, whilst job levels are capped to 4 as well, FYI

wow .....just wow ........ i am absolutely hooked. While i am a fan of jrpgs, i was thinking of giving this a skip (hello ps4, vita and 3ds backlog) but man this is the epitome of jrpg for me.

What i like:

Job system gives options and customization to your party
Difficulty is perfect- stuff seems expensive (must work for it)
battle system is turned based but mixes it up with risk/reward playstyle
graphics

anyone know whether job or levels transfer? if not i must stop :(

So, after a few early teething issues (not really understanding the different ability choices) I'm really enjoying the game. I started the game on hard and nearly got dumpstered right at the start, that forced me to learn the brave/default system really early. I've just finished the 4th(?) quest where you go to the forest for the first time, and haven't died yet, but I've come really close a few times. Can I just say though, fuck charm, fuck confuse, fuck spore, fuck pheromone..... T T Seriously, these things have caused me to come close to death far too many times. lol I had the longest fights in the jungle because I wouldn't quite kill all the enemies in the same move causing them to summon more to the fight and reset everything. Sersiously frustrating. lol

In the final game, is it possible to increase the number of support abilities I can equip or am I stuck with 4?

Just beat the Automation on my first go. Was kinda expecting more difficulty than I got considering how hard people said it was. Brave and Default are so essential and once you get the hang on when to use them they make battles like this and the Dragon easier by a huge margin. It did have me on my toes a few times and my healer was working over time. Good stuff. I assume the last bonus pack of items is from completing the village rebuilding?

Should be 4, otherwise your characters would be pretty much overpowered after a while.

Anyway, I love the demo and because of it I will immediately buy the full game upon release. In general I love to develop my character(s), but job systems are usually the most fun. Also the B+D battle mechanic should really enable some cool boss battles where you have to see through some nasty patterns.

The difficulty is great. No such thing as spamming A to grind. I have to pay attention even with the smallest of enemies. And the content and job system... Oh man.

Only streetpass villagers, or does the one free villager from the city get passed too?

Either way, man, I'm so hyped for this. :x

Loved the demo, this is basically everything I want from a jrpg. Not too fond about the heavy streetpass integration, but from the look of things, it's purely optional.

I think ill still play on normal when i get the game even if i end up grinding for exp and cash. The battle theme is sooooooo gooood.

Nope it's not from rebuilding. I'm tring to maximize all the jobs, maybe it unlock that tha last bonus

Wow...this game...! I bought a 2DS this week, mainly for fire emblem and zelda in a few weeks. Then this demo came along and totally justified the purchase. Although I do wonder what the 3D looks like...

The demo is great, so much content and every system is tuned to perfection. I'm playing on hard, so at first I was being owned like crazy, but getting the hang of thing. Using all brave points of my fighter characters on the first turn feels a bit like cheating though. I'm about to go to the forest, see how that goes.

It feels like the full game will be a HUGE adventure, can someone who played it tell a bit about that?

I read on wiki you get 10 free villagers for completing the demo, not sure if thats true though.

You do get a bonus set for completing the village, at least I did.

Should be one for playing the demo, one for each boss (5 in total) and one for completing the village.

Ok i was wrong.. The fully restored city give you the last reward for the full game.

Edit: Too slow, Jinko have reply faster :D

Game fucked me good when I tried to play it like a regular JRPG on Normal. You really need to use the brave/default system. I've had several instakills even though I was at a reasonable level.

Love it and I can't wait for the full game.

is there a list with all the rewards you can earn?

i skipped the textboxes ingame xD

Talk to the npc near the entrance of the village (west), he will update all the rewards that you'll unlock on the final versione of the game

Yeah, the difficulty really surprised me. If it's a good surprise or bad, I guess we'll see when the full game hits the stores.

Gameplay-wise it seems fucking great but if there's anyone here who has already played the full game, how's the story? The crazy stories with their twists and world-saving operations are half the game for me in JRPGs, I'm probably not gonna finish a game with a throwaway story.

Story doesn't matter when Red Mage Tiz looks utterly fabulous.

I have two 3DS's. One has no account atm. If I dl the demo, streetpass and reset it, will I be able to streepass multiple time with the 'main demo' on the 3DS XL? And if I understand it correctly, I can import those in the main game afterwards?

Ye, i streetpass myself on the other 3ds (xl and og) 7 times for now.
If i understand correctly, you can pass up to 20 people on the final version of the game

Heh. Guess I have to wait for the reviews. The "old school FF in all but name" doesn't exactly excite me, but we'll see.

I have to say, I also hate how much the game relies on spotpass/streetpass/whatever the systems are again. There's literally no way I'm getting any bonuses in Finland.

These kind of things are great on home consoles, like the pawn system in Dragon's Dogma, but with 3DS' online architecture... Nah. Not fond of it.

The game does put emphasis on a story to the point it hired a well-known visual novel writer: http://www.siliconera.com/2012/03/29/bravely-defaults-story-is-about-independence/

As for the quality itself, I heard from fellow GAFfers there's some crazy twists there, though I don't want to ask more so that I don't spoil it for myself. That and the fact that the game had a lot of character skits, led me to believe that this isn't one of the "it's a throwback to classic JRPG so let's just slap a story here" stuff.

What level is preferable for fighting the Dragon ? His Bully attack always kills one of my characters whenever it launches it and in addition its brave pattern is unpredictable.

I was 14 or 15 when I beat it.

Have you equipped shields on all your characters to soften his blows ? I am at the same level but the only strategy I've found is to hit and default alternatively each turn.

edit : won ! Take that, you infectious winged worm.
