It's a different game. Power hitting, low batting avg, low OPS, lots of K's. And pitchers all gun 90+ mph. Tough to score and get on base. Oddly, last few seasons SBs are back the past few years similar to 80s/90s, when it had been 20 years of slow players. It's an all or nothing HR or strikeout league now. Almost nobody sacrifice hits anymore too.

Honestly shocked but incredibly happy. I'm 45 years old, have no memories of Fernandomania but remember going to Dodger Stadium to face the Padres as a very young child. The magic of '88 was something else but afterwards the Dodgers utterly traumatized me with so many disappointments and faceplants. Even now agreeing with what those say about 2020 and the utter devastation of the following years exits I kept expecting the bottom to fall out in this World Series. My heart has been lodged in my throat and I don't check anything on any forums due to being incredibly superstitious so it still seems unreal.

I think Cole simply expected Rizzo to run to first with it in hand. Looking back on it I'm surprised he didn't and it just looked like Rizzo paused to look at Cole in disbelief before realizing Mookie was running to first base like a guy about to miss his bus.
