Also check out their film The Night is Short, Walk on Girl, it is a wonderfully entertaining film. While not needed to watch in order, be aware that is the spiritual successor in a way to The Tatami Galaxy as identical character designs are used for some characters and has a similar vibe (as the original novels for both are from the same author). Tatami Galaxy was animated by Madhouse, but has a similar style, and would definitely make my top 20 anime series of all time personally.
Tatami Galaxy is also directed by Masaaki Yuasa.

Science Saru is famous for "weird" anime, especially the one from Masaaki Yuasa.

Some famous titles from them are Ping Pong the Animation, Space Dandy, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
Wait, aren't Science Saru the folks who made the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World anime?

Finished Dororo. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Started Highschool of the Dead last night. There's been a fair bit of blood, but even more shots of people's underwear...
That's the one with the gif of a bullet passing between a pair of flopping boobs eh?

Regarding deceased creators and Highschool of the Dead, the manga's writer, Satou Daisuke, passed away back in 2017; the series' artist, Satou Shouji, is still alive (the two are not related). While the issue has only ever been lightly addressed, Daisuke was seemingly the driving force behind HotD, leading to the decission to suspend the series.

Amongst a few other comic works, Satou Shouji's Triage X remains ongoing, with 28 volumes in Japan and the 27th recently released in the US; the series also received a not particularly amazing 10-episode animated adaptation back in 2015. Satou Shouji also remains an active doujin artist, working under the name Inazuma and his one-man circle Digital Accel Works.

I'm two episodes into Summertime Rendering and this is pretty good!

I never even heard about this show but I saw this X post a couple of days ago and I had to check it out.

This looks sick. I've added it to my watch list, thanks.

Been a while since a series like Summer Rendering made me go "oh that did not just happen!"

That's a fantastic show

I remember watching it when it was first airing

And I agree with you on the anime being surprising

Nowadays I tend to read manga more since I think the quality had been consistently good compared to anime

Anime is slowly getting out of their rut ever since they decided to stop pursuing the global audience

Give me a good moody or serious/gritty anime that's perfect for this time of year (it's super grey and rainy outside lol). Would appreciate it!

I’m too worn out right now to think too deeply on it, so I’ll just go with what first came to mind and say Darker than Black.

Personally, I would stick to just Season 1, it answers most of the questions IIRC and only at the very ending do they have a sequel hook (which feels a bit abrupt). Season 2 just ruins the main character’s characterization for like half its season and even though it fixed that after that, it ended with barely anything resolved, clearly they were hoping for a Season 3 which didn’t pan out. Still, Season 1 is solid, worth watching.

There a middle-east TV channel that has been airing Bleach in its entirey at the pace of 4 episodes per day, every day. So this was the perfect opportunity for me to watch the filler arcs in addition to rewatching the manga arcs. I must say, these arcs are severely overhated. While the Bount arc has some major flaws (poort art, slow pace, fights that lack creativity) it also had some brilliant writing moments. The Amagai arc was the least interesting. It's interesting to note how much the production values improved around episode 200, after that even the filler arcs has amazing art and animation, sometimes rivaling that of the movies. The Muramasa arc was genuinely great imo, and the Reigai arc has some cool fanservice and jaw-dropping animation.

Just finished the first season of Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines. Very fun romantic comedy with good production values and will def continue watching if they announce a season 2.

Recommended for anyone interested in some light hearted rom-com that's different from standard harem anime.

Why is there so much negative space in that poster?

I just started watching the Ranma ½ remake.
and I am positively surprised to find that most of the original german voice actors from the original show are back.

sadly, the male voice of Ranma died more than a decade ago due to a lung embolism ☹️ so he of course had to be replaced.

but the german dub is excellent so far, even though I still gotta get used to male Ranma's new VA.

the animation is great so far, and the art style is cute. 😄
