This might be stretching the definition, but hear me out: Dance in the Vampire Bund. There might be a lack of Horror (idk, watched it like 6 years ago) but whatever you find it might lack, it makes more than up for it by casting Aoi Yuuki as the Vampire MC.

e: Just checked MAL, holy shit, I actually rated this 9.5 out of 10. 9 of these points probably being on the account of Aoi Yuuki, but I probably should give this a rewatch too.

Finished this the other night and really enjoyed it. Thank you very much for the recommendation.

Started watching Sacred Blacksmith. Five episodes in and it's enjoyable.

I'm watching Solo Leveling and I can't stop smiling about it having an asshole character called "Dongsuk", lmao.

Good show, btw! Still not really sure if the concept is genius or straight up retarded, maybe even both.

Is Fruits Basket worth a watch?

I'm gonna finish Sacred Blacksmith and then tackle more of the vampire recommendations I got. Undead Murder Face is the one I'm most interested in.

The Fruits Basket manga is an excellent manga, and while I haven’t watched the 2019 anime version (I’ve seen the early 2000’s version which was an incomplete adaptation and also the animation was weak), it is a full adaptation of the manga to my understanding so it should be solid.

Undead Murder Farce is great. The arcs do have diminishing returns, after the first episode serves as an introduction to the main trio, the first arc is excellent with tons of brilliant detective work to solve an intriguing “whodunnit” mystery. The second arc is really good, less of a mystery and more of a mind game between our leads and a certain clever thief but still engaging. The third arc is fine, there’s a bit of a detective work but it got too action focused for my liking, but by this point I liked the main trio enough to think it was worth finishing. The third arc also had the weakest directing/editing, but the arcs prior to that were solid in that regard, no surprise as this is the same director who did Kaguya-sama: Love is War.

No idea when or if a second season will be announced, the original novels are released at a slow pace and I think the first season covered most of them to my understanding.

Also, UMF takes use of public domain classic literature characters, so expect certain renowned detectives and supernatural creatures from classic literature to have a small role here and there.

Thank you both.

This sounds like something I'd enjoy, particularly this bit. Going to finish Sacred Blacksmith and jump straight into this. Thank you again.

I'm looking for other stuff to watch, but I'm not sure where to start. I guess I'm looking for something a bit more serious and mature, with less of the kids and teenagers as the protagonists.
How long ago did you drop anime? To have a frame of reference regarding what you might've missed.

The English dub for Otherside Picnic is... shockingly competent. Admittedly, I'm just two episodes in, but it's way better than I had expected.

But are any of those shows actually good instead of just pretty to make gifs of?
I know Mob Psycho is, but I'm heavily skeptical of the rest. Especially when you've got Megalobox on that list.
Made in Abyss is good but you won't like it cuz it's got pedo shit in it. I liked Death Billiards more than Parade, Dorohedoro's visual style is trash just read the manga. Same for Chainsaw Man, it wasn't good and all the kids on Twitter are coping because the new movie trailer wasn't a proof of concept and they're throwing the original series under the bus. Odd Taxi is meant to be good.

Don't care about the rest if I've seen them or not. His list not mine.

Beastars and Delicious in Dungeon should warrant a check as well. Might even want to try the English dub. I usually go for Japanese (since neither it nor English are my native language, I have no strong preference either way), but Frieren's English dub was good. And I think DiD's is also good, from what I've read.

Made In Abyss is still my second favorite manga behind Berserk. The anime is fantastic too

The Ancient Magus’ Bride

I'm still catching up on The Ancient Magus Bride and I've been really enjoying it. Once I'm all caught up, I will be watching the anime

Land of the Lustrous

I ended up reading the manga once I finished watching that anime. The manga is fantastic and had an interesting ending

Devilman Crybaby

I wasn't as big a fan of this anime but it was still good

SSSS Gridman

Fantastic all around, with Studio Trigger, I either love the anime or hate the anime

Violet Evergarden

Fantastic choice but you should have put a warning saying it will make you cry like a little girl. The movie was great too, she reunites with her Commmander who she thought was dead

Another fantastic one

Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Classic, Lucy is up there for me when it comes to Top Tier WAIFUs. Made me interested in playing the game

I read the manga last year and didn't think it was anything special. I'll eventually get to this anime

Trigun Stampede

Lfejo4S.gif

I'm a huge fan of the OG Anime and both manga. I'll eventually check it out but I don't like the artstyle

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Cat Sleepy GIF

Another one I have to check out

As for the rest I didn't mention, I'll keep those in mind

I felt that 2010s Anime has been too safe due to aiming it at a more global audience. One of the reasons why I just prefer reading manga way more

Hum, so, I'm trying to remember an anime that I've never watched, or don't know what the actual plot is about, based on some random details I remember from when I stumbled upon it, if anyone can help...

It was from around a decade ago I think; about a girl, who back then reminded me of a younger Sakura Kyoko from Madoka Magika, working for some special unit/organization. Her brother was also involved in the story although he wasn't part of that organization I believe. There, random details lol

You probably don't mean Hidan no Aria, but I'll throw it out there anyway. Funny thing is what you describe sounds vaguely familiar to me, but maybe I'm conflating things.

I asked Grok and it suggested Triage X.

Brand new anime season. These are the ones I'm currently following or planning to at least check out:

Solo Leveling S2
Re;zero S3
Apoth Diaries S2
Alchmist Isekai
NEET Kunoichi
Zenshu
noble magic isekai

bunch of others, but I think the ones listed are the ones grabbing my attention each day so far.

Me and my son have been watching Gundam Seed and really enjoying it. We even got into gunpla and are building models together.

What's the best Gundam series to go after this one?

That's the one, thanks!

Damn, looked/sounded better back then than what I'm reading about it now lol

I definitely remember the name as well, don't know if I ever checked it out, but having Yuuki Aoi and Ishikawa Yui both starring in main roles sure as shit sounds like a good reason for me to watch this

I've watched this show over a dozen times. So good.

If you like Gunpla you could try Gundam Build Fighters. It isn't as serious, but the characters build Gunpla from various series and have pretty good looking fights with them.
Aside from that, all the better Gundam series are older, so if you are ok with older shows I'd recommend starting with the original Gundam (maybe just the movie compilations), and then watching Gundam Zeta. If you like it watch the rest of the UC series after.
I'm of course assuming you'll be watching Seed Destiny after Seed.

Blame!: A

Fantastic artstyle that had a gothic feel to it. It was a pretty short manga around 64 to 65 Chapters but I was glued to the pages. There were so many beautiful panels to look at. The City which is the megastructure Killy explore was massive and the art really showcased how big The City was inside. It's was a shock finding out the actual size (which comes up in Noise, which is the prequel Manga and is only 5 to 10 Chapters). There was a biomechanical look to all the characters and even the surrondings. Also had a cosmic horror vibe throughout with a good mixture of Body Horror thrown in. The plot is Hard Sci Fi and I enjoyed figuring out the mysteries that the author laid out in this world. I wish it was longer.

Makiene Too Many Losing Heroines Season 1: A

One of my issues with current anime is that there are too many Slice of Life anime. Don't get me wrong I like the Slice of Life genre but I felt lot of them are mostly B to B+ Grades at best. This one was a rare one for me. The animation was fantastic. The visuals were high quality. Really loved the character designs. Really enjoyed the plot and all the losing Heroines all had interesting stories in the anime. Had a good dose of fanservice too. The voice acting was good (Japanese of course). I hope we get a Season 2 and I'm planning on reading the Light Novel Series it is based off of. Also Lemon is BEST GIRL

Have you ever had a publisher fail/no longer publish a manga for a manga you liked because maybe it wasn't successful?
It just happened to me... Although I found out after buying a manga....... now my only alternative is to learn Japaneese or use illegal methods with amateur translations

I saw the anime and looking on google i found the manga, but the only editor was this italian press (i'm from italy) so I bought 3 volumes but afrer that i saw that this publisher doesn't publish anymore...
Comments on social media say that they have gone bankrupt even though their online shop works, but no news or answers from the owners... in the comments they say that they are in negotiations with another publisher... only that I discovered all this after the purchase, in fact the third volume of this manga is dated 2023 ... the fact is that there is no other publisher who has taken it out of Japan, I would have no problem taking the comic in English

Not a very uncommon case unfortunately. Is there no official English publisher? Like Viz media or something. If so, you could buy it online.

That's one of the reasons illegal scanlations are valuable. There are series that simply are not published outside of Japan and probably will never be. And those fan translations are oftentimes as good as official ones if not better.

There are rundown anywhere of what to see this season? Sorry if this was already answered

Don't watch Sakamoto Days btw. Mediocre production of a mid manga. A bunch of retcons and genre pivots to avoid the axe and chase attention spans.
