Kimbers are works of art that kill. :lol
I LOVED the feel of it but my wife hated the weight. Then I saw the price. One day.

Lionheart1827 said:Yeah I read about that recently, that's a pretty good price, too.
I also read about the "dont tread on me" 1911. Looks sweet.
I love my Taurus PT1911 though, what a beauty.

Manos: The Hans of Fate said:It's just such a work of art, simple, yet eloquent. I'm hoping just maybe the NRA will succeed in getting some of NYC's more excessive gun laws invalidated. You have to pay hundreds of dollars and wait months to fire a handgun at a target range. The license also expires in 30 days if you don't get a handgun. This has nothing to do with liberalism or conservatism, but just come sense and the fact that onerous restrictions like that serve no real purpose.
Are there any target ranges easily accessible by the LIRR or MTA North that can allow target range shooting (and rentals) without any of of the ass backwards issues of New York City?
stldave2 said:Do you have a stock recoil spring in that? If so does it have any problems chambering?
I have a buddy who has one and that gun has the lightest spring I have ever felt. You could rack that thing with your pinky. Maybe I'm just jaded because of the Wolff XP spring in my Kimber is ridiculous.
Lionheart1827 said:Yeah everything is stock, however, it could be that his is an older model. I do know the older model PT1911s had issues with chambering. Mine chambers perfect everytime, only had 1 failure to feed out of around 1000 rounds so far.
stldave2 said:Nice! That makes sense, I would imagine his is an older one. 1:1000 is a pretty good average
Now if the price of .45 would just come down a bit...
Lionheart1827 said:Yeah its a pain. Although my license wont expire after 30 days without a gun, you have to get a purchase document direct from the bureau and THAT expires in 20 days if you dont use it. Not to mention the bureau that I have to go to to register my pistols are only open 9-4:30 on weekdays, and I work weekdays. They arent open on the weekend so I pretty much have to take a day off to get everything done.
I'm thinking I might try some places in PA when my wife and I visit are family during the 4th. PA doesn't have it's head up it's ass regarding people who want to shot at a range.Lionheart1827 said:I go to calverton range which is way in suffolk county where I live. Calverton is awesome since its outdoors and there arent many huge rules, its a bit lax. However, no rentals there. The other ranges that do have rentals can be jerks or have crappy ventilation. There isnt many open ranges out here that are good. The mitchell field one is supposedly good but I havent gone there yet. I believe its near nassau coliseum.
Manos: The Hans of Fate said:Yeah, crap like that is just pointless and meant to prevent people from getting one. It really serves no functional use.

Lionheart1827 said:Yeah it sucks how close PA is and they have way better laws than us. Not to mention we just defeated that stupid microstamping bill which would make it even worse for NY. If you're ever out in suffolk county and you want a good place to shop for firearms, check out Campsite in Huntington. Great place.
Lionheart1827 said:I'm looking into getting a .22LR pistol as well as a 9mm.
Manos: The Hans of Fate said:Cool, see there in lies the rub, my wife has no issue with me owning guns, she just doesn't want them stored in the house. While I have my own opinions on that, I can respect her wish and honestly we're moving to any area where its not needed for self-defense. I just want to be able to go to a target range and shoot and be able to store it there. I have to assume New York couldn't allow something rational like that though.
stldave2 said:I bought a .22 bolt for my AR, that is pretty much all I shoot these days. I have a little cache of .380 (shh don't tell anyone), 9, .40, .45, 5.56, & .308... I refuse to deplete those reserves, but I'm too big of a broke dick lately to buy any more.
That doesn't count shotguns though. I'll still go out and shoot trap with my tacticool 18" remington:lol
It's beautiful. I was set on getting a Kimber 1911 but I think I just changed my mind.Manos: The Hans of Fate said:http://www.targetmaster.com/Remington_1911_R1.html

You have any idea what the deal with rifles and shotguns are?Lionheart1827 said:Yeah NY would be a bad place if you're looking for pistol ownership. The pistols go on your license and only yours and they must always be stored at the address on your license. If not its ground for license revoke. Even somebody without a license touching your pistol is breaking the law. Rifles are a different story unless you live in the city. My brother is NYPD and he's so glad that he's moving back out to the island since the laws are more lax out on the island. Still lax to us is terrible compared to other states. Meh.
Shit, I wish I could have gotten some commission on that. :lolSpy said:It's beautiful. I was set on getting a Kimber 1911 but I think I just changed my mind.

Anyone have any good recommendations on a 3" 1911? I was thinking of picking up an sti one, but I can't remember the model off the top of my head.
The new agent is the one without sights right? I heard good things about it, but the no sights sound a bit weird. How much do they run for?CrazedArabMan said:Colt Defender or Colt New Agent, I'm looking into one myself, leaning more toward the New Agent as a good carry pistol.

My cousin used to have a 3" kimber, and that thing would FTF pretty often. I heard a lot of people had the same issue. Did they fix that yet?

Would anyone know how much the Colt's run for? They don't seem to have prices listed on their site unless I missed it.

Captain Howdy said:Last night a friend was telling me about replica guns (airsoft, maybe?) that have a muzzle flash and a very loud report. He said they are made for home defense, with the idea that the flash and noise could scare away an intruder without having to fire real rounds. I had never heard of this, and a google search isn't really turning up any results. Have any of you ever heard of something like this? I am thinking it might even be special ammo for airsoft guns...

Piggus said:Pretty sure you're thinking of replicas that fire blanks, but are unable to fire live rounds. Airsoft guns aren't that loud and usually just use gas or electric motors to fire plastic bbs. Here's an example of a "replica" gun:
