But people know in seconds, the voice, body build, muscles, fat deposition, face structure, hair line, walk, behaviour, etc. Scentists know if a thousand year old skeleton and individual bones come from a man or woman. But today we’re supposed to need a label over a photo of a bearded man with rising hairline to know it’s a man.
And once they start early with puberty blockers and surgery when they could actually reach a blending in scenario they certainly won’t use the wrong gender label.
The whole thing makes no sense.
And if it’s just about what they feeeel like they are for the moment during some phase then why does the whole world need to adapt to such private mental confusion?
And regarding that MS pic, in what scenario would someone actually need a label over hunky Phil Spencer to know he’s identifying himself as a he/him?
And why have that stuff in games???

Imagine thinking a bunch of curated marketing shots of terrain locales has anything to do with the overall quality of a game.

How is that first minute of that video even remotely close to mediocre? For an RPG where its maker made 2d Isometric games, a storyboard game recently and the visually impressive (/s) Fallout New Vegas?
What's the reference of graphics you want for this kind of game? Which?
I hope I would find both of you guys in Baldur's Gate III thread mentioning how mediocre it looks, right? Certainly you took the time to shit on that as well.
I want to give the developers the benefit of the doubt, but it does concern me how important they've made the pronouns in the UI.
I don't think sexual preference is as important as my character class and hp pool, ya know?

This has actually shot up my list of anticipated titles, looks great.
Minus points for posting a Colt Eastwood vid though.
The point is not about blending in, but being recognised as the gender you feel you are, even if differs from the biological gender you were assigned at birth. And in order for that to happen, there has to be acceptance that gender has a psychological component that may differ from a person's (observed) biological characteristics. That's precisely what is in dispute. That debate isn't resolved simply by pointing out the physical differences that are known to exist between men and women, since these differences would be recognised by both sides.

The latest batch of previews from this week were definitely a lot more encouraging.
Multiple previews citing things like companions, dialogues, the overall world as positives is pretty good.
It's been a long while since we had an open-ish fantasy WRPG like this, Veilguard (for its other discussion points) was basically a character action game. This feels like it'll fit that slot nicely.

Pretty much this. I'd say that as much as DEI is an issue the fact that this has 7 pages says there is enough outrage about it as is.
And really, why? If i i see them pronouns i just filter them in my brain. If it makes some people who find this thing important feel like they are listened to (I mean i could find better ways to get your kin recognized but okay) then good on them.

It's been a long while since we had an open-ish fantasy WRPG like this, Veilguard (for its other discussion points) was basically a character action game. This feels like it'll fit that slot nicely.
It'll live or die for me on the story and writing. looking forward to checking it out now.

100 developers.
20 hate this shit.
60 are apolitical and don’t really care.
20 have some kind of mental illness and support progressive causes.
3/20 are men who pretend to be women.
50 project managers.
20 are white liberal women.
20 white liberal activist women in HR.
1-2 male executives who want whatever is going to cause the least amount of drama internally and externally and get their game sold.
For the studios located in places like California (Obsidian), you can skew that all further left.
This stuff will continue forcing its way into games for a while, even after the ideology has retreated/died out in most places.

If a man feel like a woman he will likely do some work to look like a woman and change the name etc. There is no scenario where a bulky brute of a man called Arnold with a big ass beard need a label over his photo that says he’s identifying himself as a man. It is already known.
So why not just let those who happen to sometimes but not always pass as a woman use that extra label if they’re fed up about being mislabeled all the time?
But again why bring that into games? Why would anybody want to create a character that often gets mislabeled as the wrong gender? If you’re a man who feel like a woman, wouldn’t the ultimate role playing fantasy be to play as a real woman?

Developers basically use this to say that "it has been normalized" and is expected. But it's just something some companies have done and nothing the majority of gamers expect or want. It's insane how much money I save by skipping games that have been affected by the woke virus.

I can and will ignore the pronoun bullshit in create a character. When a game attempts to saddle me with one of these crazy people as a companion or heavily involved in the story then I'm out. We already know all of your companions in Avowed. None of them fall into this category and the female human mage isn't ugly with masculine looking features.

Why should that matter? A good game is a good game, a bad game is a bad one. The pronoun system in place for your RPG character creator is secondary to all of that. Larians next RPG is probably going to feature the exact same thing and will probably be another great game, is it going to suddenly matter then again?
