pretty much every single UE5 game has shipped with a 60 fps mode.

Hellblade 2 is the only exception.

Lots of people game on PC monitors with wide VRR support and Xbox supports Freesync as well, not just the HDMI standard.

That's what I'm gonna do, 60 is welcome but UE5 60 is either gonna cut back effects or run lower ends of DRS. A good 40 is a massive improvement over 30.

Not really mate, there were rumours, and i think from devs themselves.. that the game targets 30fps, what to do that some of us can't tolerate 30fps anymore, so that's great to hear.

They are at ~32 million for both? That means that ~24 million of those consoles are Series S, going by the last official number of split they revealed in those slides at the indie game dev event some years ago. 75% of the consoles sold (then), when they were at 20 million +, were Series S.

Officially confirmed no

extas1s is a pretty good non-englisher leaker with a solid track record. He was saying for the xbox direct that the 4th game he thinks would most likely be a new ninja gaiden. He leaked dates for Octopath traveller 2, call of duty MW3, crash bandicoot trilogy, Atlas fallen, on gamepass sometimes weeks /months+ in advance.

The reddit source earlier in the day, which is what the title screen screenshot came from. He says he's reviewing the game, and earlier in the day had said the video modes and then deleted it 1h later, now he says that he can't answer these questions anymore, probably remembered the NDA..

All games should have a 60 fps mode. Even if visuals and res are really dumbed down, give gamers choice.

If devs can figure out how to make a PC game across a million configs, endless sliders and on/off toggles letting PC gamers tweak frames to the dime, I'm sure they can figure out how to do 30/60 options, or gasp...... 30/40/60 options as if it's the hardest thing to do on earth.

People these days play with their consoles on 1080p/1440p high refresh rate monitors, it's a pretty common setup. If you think main XSS target are people with modern TVs because it has HDMI 2.1 features you should give some gaming setups videos a watch on YouTube, many workspace rebuilds videos have a PS5 or any other console in the desk with Mac for work, etc.

Couch gaming with big screen is a luxury mostly bound old or wealthy people since desk + console + 24" to 27" high refresh rate monitor is a pretty cheap and popular setup even with millennials these days.

40 FPS is more than tolerable, it's fantastic. On paper it sounds like the gap between 30 to 40 is smaller than 40 to 60, but the frame time falls perfectly in the middle of 30 and 60.

I would love it if 40fps was way more common than it currently is.

You can mostly thank 1st party Sony devs for it being an option (console) in the first place. Credit where credit is due.

The S is a very obvious place to implement it though. MS need to lead from the front on it, and it seems they are starting to. You can probably thank DF for it, not joking, sometimes it seems MS listens to a very narrow band.

40 FPS is more than tolerable, it's fantastic.

I'm playing one game on steam deck at 40 and it's not because I want to. It feels responsive enough that I don't interpret any mistakes as a fault of the game but that's about it.
