I was also crazy lucky to snag a Lost Abbey My Black Parade. Gonna let that one age.

My Black Parade is awesome. Has a lot of peppermint if I recall correctly, although what's in it shouldn't really make it taste that way. I do think I have a bit of a weird taste for things though. I have another bottle so we'll see if it's as I remembered, heh. I had the Bruery x Maine Beer collaboration hoppy belgian beer and it tasted strangely of ketchup to me

Try Miami Madness if you can, everyone was raving about it. J Wakefield are known for doing killer stouts and sours, they trade like gold.

I finally get to try some Treehouse beers. Traded for a couple cans of Julius and Sap. The guy was going back on Friday to see what else they had but I wanted to get them before Thanksgiving.

I'm massively in love with Kolsch-style beer. Tried the St Arnolds Lawnmower and Santos beer and LOVED it. Very flavorful, very smooth.

I'm glad I took the plunge and started drinking beer. I can already tell not all beers are created the same. I'm really excited to get into the world of it. I'm always excited to try new things and I'm eager to explore this world.

Spent sixty bucks on what was supposed to be a light browsing, the worst thing is I want to go back they had just got in World Wide Stout, Toris the Tyrant, and a special Barrel Aged Sierra Nevada series which included Narwhal.

Yes lol, unrelated but Death by Coconut is kinda wack. The adjunct has this perfumey essence that doesn't add much to the flavor but rings out in the scent. It's also way too thin and watery.

Agreed. Had such high hopes too. Find myself preferring this years Barley Forge the Patsy more for a deeper, less coconut finish.

Interesting. I enjoyed the previous release and just grabbed some Tuesday. Need to get you over the house sometime to have some beers. The cellar is deep so plenty to choose from.

I'd love to man just so hard figuring out when I'll have free time as a Dad. Like I'll have a say to myself and it'll just be like this random weekday and then the weekend comes and everyone is calling me but I have to watch the kid and then work. Coordinating is saddening these days

I really enjoyed Death by Coconut last time I had it. Thought the aroma matched the flavor well, but I also have the same complaints, too thin and watery. Nice pick up on the BBA Ten Fidy, we're getting some distro down here in SoCal too but I haven't picked one up myself. Ended up getting two bottles of Abraxas though!

Found and had one last night. Amazing. Similar to Parabola. Deeper, maybe a bit sweeter.

Thanks. I'm a huge fan of Russian Imperial Stouts, but American breweries pretty much stopped doing those, so anything I can find in that general range is always of interest.

Nice. I'm in California and we don't get many midwestern/eastern beers out here, but I'll keep an eye out. It's a shame because I've heard there's a ton of good Michigan and Ohio breweries.

North Coat Old Rasputin, Great Divide Yeti and variants (the chocolate bourbon chip aged is especially tastey), Stone has a couple, Firestone Walker Parabola, Sierra Nevada Narwhal, Port Brewing Santas Little Helper, Avery The Czar, Big Sky Ivan the Terrible.

Those and more are ones I've bought in Seattle and most are probably available in California.

Old Rasputin is a good, reliable stout. My go to here is Founders. Store still has cases bottled in dec 2014 around, which is good for me.
Like pouring motor oil.

Speaking of Imperial stouts had the 2015 and 2016 Rueben's BBIS today; might have to go back to the brewery this evening since the 2014/2013 kegs are getting tapped at 4pm/6pm.

I went to the peaceful protest at Green Lake today instead of waiting in line at Reuben's. Fortunately a friend has a Reuben's membership so I've got a bottle coming. Still have 2014 and 2015 bottles left after opening my 2013 a few weeks ago.

Actually got their at 11 and was probably 15th in line; couldn't see past the tents but we had lunch and came back and the line was short both when we left and came back.

My local spot had a Breakfast Stout breakfast this morning. Some friends and I put together a little KBS vertical, 2012 through 2016. I'm surprised how stable that beer is. The coffee fades off a bit, but otherwise the differences are pretty subtle. I still think regular Breakfast Stout is better, but a little KBS is fun.

I remember the coffee fading quite a bit compared to fresh, but everything else was stable. Still a damn good stout. One of the greats.

Oh, I'm aware there's a few around. But most of the west coast breweries have moved to what I tend to call an American Imperial Stout though. They lack the caramelized sugar and booze-forward profile that I dig, and are really heavy on the malt and cocoa/chocolate.

The Yeti is great, especially the Barrel Aged and Espresso Oak-Aged variants I can't find anymore. Though I'm a fan of Port, not a big fan of SLH. Avery neither. Old Rasputin was my first RIS so I'll always have a fondness for it, but it's a bit sedate. Though I have a barrel-aged bottle I'm itching to try. Stone's RIS is always too sweet for me. Haven't had the Big Sky.

Speaking of Port, I'll say that Old Viscosity, and the transcendent-but-$$ Older, are really great RISes, even though they're not labelled as such.

My all-time favorite RIS is Alpine's Boris (barrel-aged with coffee). But I don't think they've brewed it in a few years.
