I mean, I completed Demon's Souls and Dark Souls without too much of an effort now I'm constantly getting my ass handed to me and can't even get past those two fucking werewolves on the wall.
I guess I have some real learning and unlearning to do :|

the wolves on the bridge at the start of the game? those made me give up because i just wouldn't run past them. they are tough for new players. just run past them until you level up a bit.
You have to lure much more than ever before and learn to stagger. I never tried parrying in any souls game because its a buggy mechanic but you have to really get good at it here. Shoot a bullet at the face of an enemy in the middle or the start of their attack, walk up R1 and it'll do like 600 DMG. For human characters its better to attack them once or twice then just spam your gun. The AI is the same since demons souls where they run at you, run back and circle you for a bit before walking up to you again.
Be warned humans have guns and can do the same to you if you're not careful.
on my first try. Never did that with a boss in BB until now (on each build I've run). Bowblade too damn stronk.
Your best bet for finding your echoes is hoping an enemy picked them up. Then you can just look for ol' blue eyes (the enemy that killed you isn't always the same one that picks them up). Otherwise yeah, Forbidden Woods is massive and it's very easy to get lost.
Probably my proudest achievement in BB. Fight was 11 minutes long but the patience paid off. Not having a serrated/long-reach/buff-ready weapon for that dude sucks
After I'm done with my plat run (which is basically just me fighting the seven necessary bosses on NG+ to get the Yharnam Sunrise ending), I'm thinking of doing a Skill build with a Reiterpallasch (Evelyn as sidearm). Is that a good idea?

The Evelyn is virtually redundant because the Reiterpallasch deals more damage at any bloodtinge level (because it has three gem slots instead of just one). It might look cool though.

Beat the game today, hate that I'm missing a few trophies because ENDING TALK
beating gherman without dark presence has to be done on its own, dark presences being its own trophy doesn't unlock ghermans trophy...as well as simply choosing to die is a separate trophy but that I understand at least
All that's left to do is NPC quests with a walkthrough and turns out I only missed 1 badge somewhere to get my final weapon. Since I'm on NG+ now I'm dreading the difficulty of the chalice dungeons, I was already getting one shot there last playthrough ;_;
I was really liking the story but it really went off the deep end after the
forbidden forest
. I watched a few videos but as usual with souls games it's all fanfic after a certain point, I was never privy about cosmic horror.

I was mostly using for the cool factor, since a real skill build is a proper gentleman with a top hat, monocle, and any of the student sets, Hunter set A, the knight set, the constable set, or Maria's set.
Question: does it matter in a grand scheme of things if I don't kill the Gatling Guy in the tower due to...reasons.
You gotta love this gam: you are getting a grasp of thing and start feeling confident about your abilities. Suddenly they throw the Blood-starved Beast at you :/ Managed to get him down to ~25% health and died due to running out of antidotes.

It doesn't matter at all story-wise. He gives you an item that unlocks a few things in the shop but you can get it off him by being friendly to him or killing him. I guess you'll miss out on his weapon and armour set too by not killing him.

No, you get extra dialogue from him if you befriend him rather than kill him.
BSB cant poison you until last phase or if you get hit by him, Dont use the antidote right away let the meter fill and use it when you are starting to lose a good bunch of health.

That's an actual character? How do you get to him without him whipping out the arm cannon? Do you just kill the BSB and come back to him and he won't shoot you?

Watchdog is safe to attack after all of his swipes. Take a split second longer than you think to attack so that the animation finished and he only does one regular headswipe, if you go in too soon he will do another the other way. The forward head poke/wriggle is also a good one to get a couple of hits in as is the walk forward with flame bites/breath safe to attack just as it ends just walk backwards as he walks forwards.
Really the only thing you have to watch out for is not reading his charge in time, everything else is pretty methodically. I like these kind of Souls fights. Ebriatas is similar.

nope. you can either kill him when you first meet him or befriend him at a later point. personally i just kill him because i hate him and that damn gun.
BSB for me was the most challenging boss in the game including DLC. Every other boss I beat 1st 2nd or 3rd try but BSB took me about 10 tries. I too ran out of antidotes/vials and other items so I ended up just buying the item that let me progress into Cathedral Ward and came back later to defeat it.
I was really enjoying the chalice dungeons after you finish those terrible Phumterian ones. Then I got to an area where red spiders aggro to you through walls and they literally don't stop spawning. Turns out two bell witches were on the other side and there is no spawn limit to them, I had like 10 on screen at once and they still all gave souls. Great place to farm if they didn't kill you in 2 hits while having extreme reach. I really like the burial blade but god this reach is awful and I miss the slightly more speed my ludwig had. Lost 990k souls trying to beat that area...crushed my record of 300k souls. That was like 20 level ups too...got so sad I started doing story again but one little bitch ass monster gives me +400 souls compared to the 4k I get from the bitch ass monsters in the dungeon. Now I'm doing super BSB and wow this is impossible actually, I feel like back when I first tried the game a year ago and every boss was an exercise in frustration.
I need to take a break from Horizon and get back to this for a couple nights. I last attempted to take on Rom and was quite unsuccessful. Any tips for that fight?

1) Rush Rom with beast pallets and Lightning infusion to deal massive damage and kill him fast
2) take it slow, kill all the minions, circle Rom in the last phase to avoid the magic rain of death
I'm a bit confused... how do I get to the Hypolean Gaol for the Old Yharnam shortcut without killing the BSB? Making the Snatchers appear requires killing the BSB, so this seems like a chicken-and-egg paradox...

Started my new game character going for a SKL/BT build. Getting used to the whip was something different but its mostly working out.
This time I'm trying to help people a bit more but man ripping through Cleric and Gascgoine with 3 people is so satisfying. Having Gascy get almost perma stun locked from a flurry of attacks from the hammer, saw, and whip feels so right haha.
Simon entered the Hunters Nightmare to uncover the secrets of the Healing Church, Simon mentions it when you met him he is a fellow hunter but found the Nightmare being against the hunters ideal to protect the people of yharman and became suspicious of the church actions.
Ahh, yes, I see...

Such inquisitive hunters will relish the Nightmare.
But beware, secrets are secrets for a reason.

Some places are better left untouched, and some secrets are better left alone.
Anyone who hears his bell means Brador is hunting you. due the player actions Simon managed to pass throught the astral tower and the village but in the last moment Simon moves ahead of you being an easy prey of Brador and
Brador kills him
.
...Oh, you, I'm afraid, I've made a botch of things...

...It isn't fair, it just isn't fair...
for the last time before dying on his injures due brador invasion or already dead depending of how you reach the last zone
.
Simon
died before knowing the secret of the Nightmare and the main reason his fellow Old Hunters gave their lives and their sanity to protect the Church's great secret
To my recollection, the last time Simon appeared alive for me, was at the the entrance of Research Hall. I killed Brador in his cell on both runs, before he could invade elsewhere.
