I doubt this will be an issue in actual reality. games suggested prices are just that. Plus Nintendo are going cheaper with digital so this will havve to put pressure on retailers selling physical copies.Really awesome hardware
The problem is software. $90 for one game is just too much. Even worse when you imagine how low the budget is (or at least should be) to make a game like Mario Kart compared to other current gen games.
I think the handheld bump to 1080p will make me play in handheld a little more than the original. Bit I am more of a docked player myself. I have an LG C series OLED and even the origianls 720p home screen looks decent on it. Can't wait to see the Switch 2 running on it.Given the seemingly huge difference in available power between docked and handheld mode relative to the first Switch, for me it's a far more interesting console hooked up to a TV than as a handheld this time.
The kickstand seems competent at keeping the system from falling over, compared to the awful kickstand for Switch 1, but worse than the kickstand in the Switch OLED… it seems like intentional regression to segment the future Switch 2 OLED better.it will most likely have better battery and kickstand
I appreciate you stating it directly, yet what could they do with a new generation for you not to be there? I am curious about that. There are plenty of news I don't like about it, but I was never on the fence.
I'll be there for the first party stuff as always.
Nintendo is the only console maker that values exclusive games and sticks to physical media..
I think they'd have to screw up a generation in terms of first party output.I appreciate you stating it directly, yet what could they do with a new generation for you not to be there? I am curious about that.
So basically there is nothing as you buy a system before the games are out and you would buy the games to judge if they really screwed up and each generation is a new chance though or have you ever skipped a gen? Would you really skip it based on current software and not get it anyways with the promise that "they went back to their routes"?I think they'd have to screw up a generation in terms of first party output.
I buy their systems on the promise of amazing games in the franchises I love. If they have a generation where most things are really bad (like maybe Zelda/Mario etc. being Pokemon quality) and/or go in directions that I personally find bad/uninteresting (e.g. Zelda becoming a MMO/always-online mess or something), I'd skip the next.
They'd always get me the first time based on past merits. So basically there is nothing as you buy a system before the games are out and you would buy the games to judge if they really screwed up and each generation is a new chance though or have you ever skipped a gen? I will admit that if the loading times are as improved as I hope / expect both BotW and TotK would be a much welcome improvement on Switch 2 (resolution and framerate, in this order, being a nice bonus). Just a bit steep… £9 for this seems a bit much (but it is Nintendo). The hardware is good for a handheld but perhaps a bit overpriced ($399USD would've been sweet, but maybe that's not realistic). I want to play through Tears of the Kingdom with the upgrade and Metroid Prime 4 is a worthy upgrade over the Switch 1 version. I still haven't played through my copy of ARMS and I haven't played through Pokemon Scarlet so these games getting free upgrades is another incentive for me. So I'd like to buy one. I think it's going to have a lot of fantastic games which are much more pleasant to play now that it's got more power and modern features.

It is disappointing they went with an old HDMI 2.0 chipset (no 4K@120 Hz so no 40 FPS mode at 4K :/.) and HDR wise those games would be really cool with it, but so wonder if HDR will be enabled per game or for the system container and if it were the latter what would they do if a game does not support HDR?
Will they support HGIG? Last thing I want and I would think that they would want their customers to do, given their target users, would be to adjust HDR settings per game… :/…
WTF? Sony behaviour compared to Nintendo looks like a NGO ready to save the world from poverty and injustices…I was super pumped but when I saw the prize I was super pissed and decided "no way".
It took about 24 hours before the FOMO set in and I sort of just accepted it. I know, I'm part of the problem. So now I'm pumped again.
Nintendo is the only console maker that values exclusive games and sticks to physical media.. At least for now. I've almost given up on Sony after the dreadful PS5 generation where they've done everything wrong. So. Guess I want to support them.
OK, let me rephrase: at least they're not as bad as Sony has become. Not true at all
Considering the price increase and how old the HDMi 2.1 standard is this is a dick move by Nintendo to save pennies in profit margins…I'm also disappointed that it doesn't support HDMI 2.1 and that it won't be able to support 4k 120hz/40hz modes. It's a bad decision by Nintendo. I don't know if this means it can't do 40hz modes at all when docked or whether it can still do 1080p/1440p 40hz modes? If it can't do 40hz modes at all when docked then that is very disappointing. And some indie games could've run at 4k 120fps as well, like Hades 2. The console would've been pretty much complete feature wise if it supported HDMI 2.1.

Well reality will be somewhere in the middle.Like in every case of new hardware, lets wait till we see the games, we saw some already which makes most hc nintendo fans buy/preorder it, and thats great, for more casual ppl more time/actual game reviews are required.
To understand what i mean i give u guys 2 vastly different scenarios:
First scenario-MKW gets 95/100 overall meta and is praised to hell and back, DKB gets over 90/100 meta with overwhelming praise too- and we get announcements of new zelda/proper 3d mainline mario with some teaser trailers/screenshots- hype is tru the roof, every1 is buying ofc.
2nd scenario tho:
MKW gets "only" 82/100 score with reviewers pointing out many flaws of the game left and right, DKB gets only 76meta with many reviews not even recommending it, no news of any new mario/zelda in sight- switch2 situation suddenly is way different.
Obviously we all hoping for 1st case, but cant say possibility of scenario no2 is close to 0, its definitely relatively unlikely but its there, so if some1 isnt 100% convinced nothing wrong with waiting a bit longer to make concious decision![]()
The Swedish price took me from 100% sure I was going to buy one at launch to 90% sure I will not. If we had gotten the equivalent of the US or general EU price I would have been perfectly fine with it. But this is plain robbery.
Maybe, but so is the library.I almost bought a steam deck last year until i saw the size of the thing. It's fucking enormous.
Yeah, that's where I am roughly at as well. Switch 2 looks like a solid improvement over Switch 1, albeit overpriced. But I have yet to see a video game that is worth 90€. And as much as I like Mario Kart, it's not worth that either.Really awesome hardware

I'm aware, I have over 1000 games on Steam.Maybe, but so is the library.
Can you not get someone to get you one and send it over? The Swedish price took me from 100% sure I was going to buy one at launch to 90% sure I will not. If we had gotten the equivalent of the US or general EU price I would have been perfectly fine with it. But this is plain robbery.
