Haven studios right now:
I hope they areBioware must be shitting their pants right now.
Concord got mostly 8s alsoA game like Dragon Age Veilguard has much more brand power and hype versus drivel such as Concord, DEI influence or not. The reviews are very positive too; I'm sure it will sell well enough to keep them afloat.
I dont really know why but this response had me dyingGod. Damnit.
Another incel win victim.
Even in other entertainment sectors, this might be the biggest media bomb of all time.Wow, just...wow.
This is, hands down, probably the biggest M&A and game launch failure in the industry. You would think SIE's leadership would've avoided something with so many warning signs, yet here we are. It's one for the ages, that's for sure.
Did at least think they'd be spun into a support studio for the other teams. An entire shutdown? Not what I had in mind. Maybe SIE can claim them as a tax write-off of...what is it? $400 million now?
Jokes aside, I have much harsher and scathing opinions about how SIE have handled this entire game and the studio, and their retardedly pursued GAAS initiative altogether that IMHO has basically screwed their 1P of most of the remainder of this gen. But I can save that for another time.
What? Didn't Sony buy this game in 2022 when the vision of it was already in progress? Sony didn't make this a shitty, woke, GAAS game, they bought it because it was a shitty, woke, GAAS game.Employees suffering from executives decisions again.
Wait, what? Where's my Concord Remastered?!
It's completely out of context: I made the same thread and the OP one-up me for seconds.I dont really know why but this response had me dying
But lucky for media and tech they sure know how to hook in big daddy corporation with deep pockets with nothing but some people with a juicy linked in profile.Added to the list (growing in recent times) of Studios that don't survive beyond their first project...
The video game industry today does not give second chances. Sad.
Eh... mobile efforts are obviously pushed by Sony Group, like way before Hermen Hulst became a top executive."Expanding beyond PlayStation devices and crafting engaging online experiences alongside our single-player games are key focal areas for us as we evolve our revenue streams. We need to be strategic, though, in bringing our games to new platforms and recognize when our games fall short of meeting player expectations.
While mobile remains a priority growth area for the Studio Business, we are in the very early stage of our mobile efforts."
This guy is going to kill Playstation.
But it's not weird considering that their sister company has this:
Fate/Grand Order grossed over $646 million during 2015 to 2016. In 2017, the game grossed ¥89.6 billion ($816 million) in Japan between January and 3 October, and ¥13.2 billion ($120 million) in China. Worldwide, the game grossed $982 million in 2017, making it the year's sixth highest-grossing mobile game. In 2018, it grossed at least ¥134.8 billion ($1,228 million), including ¥120.4 billion in Japan (where it was the year's second highest-grossing mobile game) along with ¥14.4 billion overseas during the first half of the year. It was the year's top mobile game in terms of worldwide consumer spending. In China, its income accounted for the majority of its Chinese operator Bilibili's annual income in 2017.
In 2018, Fate/Grand Order drew widespread media attention due to reports of a 31-year old Japanese man identified only as Daigo, claiming to have spent $70,000 to purchase the game's currency, called Saint Quartz, which is used to summon Servants. Daigo kept on spending cash in-game in his desire to get high-level characters and ended up spending more to strengthen them once they were acquired. In an interview, the gamer said, "Some people spend $18 on a movie and feel moved. I've spent $70,000 on FGO. But it moves me." This incident highlighted the popularity of FGO. According to The Wall Street Journal, the game was partly responsible for Sony's soaring operating profit. As of March 2018, the app contributed an average of $2.5 million every day.
Fate/Grand Order grossed $982 million in 2017, making it the year's sixth highest-grossing mobile game. In 2018, Fate/Grand Order grossed $1.2 billion, making it the year's seventh highest-grossing free-to-play game. In 2019, the game grossed $1.2 billion. By 13 March 2019, the game had grossed more than $3 billion worldwide. Total revenue crossed $4 billion by the end of 2019. It was the world's top-grossing mobile game during the 2020 New Year period, ahead of fellow JRPG title Monster Strike. As of July 2021, the game grossed $5.4 billion worldwide, making it the seventh highest-grossing mobile game of all time. As of September 2023, total revenues reached $7 billion.
whatever dude, nice pearl clutching.Imagine celebrating people losing their jobs because the game was woke.
As fun as the dunking is (please don't stop), I do feel for the people who are out of work and now have to figure out their next paycheck. That's an awful ordeal to go through.
/end thread
to be fair every sony studio is woke now. insomniac, naughty dog, guerilla, sucker punch etcGo woke go broke
And a damned good one at that. Still play it practically daily.Sony and mainstream multiplayer games just don't mix, Helldivers 2 was a fluke. The sooner they stop chasing trends(leave it to third party) and do what they do best the better.
Are Fairgame$ and Marathon developers next to walk the plank?
Nah, get them back into making shooters with a good single player portion attached.Yes and maybe, though I think the worst case scenario for Bungie is to get restructured into a support group.
If you take a shit you better bring some toiletpaper. There will come a time when you'll have to wipe.As fun as the dunking is (please don't stop), I do feel for the people who are out of work and now have to figure out their next paycheck. That's an awful ordeal to go through.
Pre order cancelled?I'm devastated
