Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Multiplayer World Premiere Coming August 11, 2014

I don't know what people mean by this. I feel like all COD MP seems like copy/paste job.

They share a very similar base, but calling them copy/paste is juvenile and ignores the qualities that elevate one Call of Duty's multiplayer above another's. Ghosts has none of those qualities.

Never ceases to amaze me how all the people who hate cod come into these threads shitting them up.

Cant wait to see how this plays, I'll be right back on the hype train.

Ghosts was terrible. The spawns and hitboxes are the worst of any fps I've played. Also, health feels VERY low compared to blops 2. You die much quicker in ghosts than blops 2. Also the maps are overly huge (stonehaven is the WORST map in call of duty history). The ghosts killsteaks are awful and cheap. The dog took like two clips to kill and the maniac...I just hate it. Ugh.
Why are there still FPS drops on the next gen versions of Ghosts MP?!
I don't know if I will even get the next IW COD. And MW2 was my favorite...but the team is mostly gone. : (
What I've seen of AW (sp) it looks awesome. I've finished every cod campaign but ghosts. Ghosts burnt me so badly. /end rant
Hopefully the AW multiplayer is nice. A good variety of maps & sizes, balanced weapons, customization, no fps drops, and good killstreaks and we have a winner.
edit: Black Ops 1 customization was godly.
MW2 > Blops > Blops 2 > < MW1 > MW3 > WAW >>>>>> Ghosts

Please have split-screen with bots. 4 players would be nice but I'm ok with the 2 they had for Ghosts.

I'd be happy with a mix of Black Ops 1 and 2's customization. I liked being able to choose a lot of different reticles and colors for the gun sights, but 2 had a better emblem creator, and I loved the pick 10 system (which Ghosts butchered) as well as being able to slap skins on every weapon in the game.

Could not possibly care less at this point. They need to do something amazing to bring me back.

They did! They made an amazing new game that was completely unlike any Call of Duty before it. Then they released it under the guise of a different developer and a different producer, and they called it "thousands and thousands of games that aren't Call of Duty". It's an astounding new game for anyone who doesn't want to play Call of Duty, like yourself.

Hope this is more in feel to a Treyarch game than a infinity ward game.

All this cool weapons and tech Olney but from the quick end glimpse of the campaign trailer it still looks like it only takes 3 bullets to kill someone.

Oh yeah

Blops1>Cod4>Blops2>W@W>Mw2>ghosts>MW3

I made the mistakes of getting Ghosts. That was the first. The second was getting it on PC. That was the second. Ugh. Ghosts. Ugh.

Maybe this will push the FPS market into near future and far future settings, at least I hope so. I want guns, armor and gizmos that defy physics in design instead of function.

I don't think Call of Duty is ever going to shed the short TTK (though it doesn't have to be as short as Ghosts with it's lag comp), but if you're asking why the future technology isn't helping to improve soldier defenses, keep in mind that the weapons are improving as well.

I feel ya. Though I didn't get it on PC, I got Ghosts after passing on Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 (mistake, bought and loved it later). I got Ghosts because I felt ready to give Call of Duty another shot (and on next gen too! Wowza!) and I saw some youtube videos of players hyping it up and getting excited for it. But that was before it actually released. That's not a mistake I'll be making again with the series. I've got high hopes for Sledgehammer, but as far as I'm concerned, they haven't proven themselves yet. They talk an interesting talk, but I've gotta know if their game delivers before I buy it.

You just reminded me of two things!
1. The pick 10 was awesome! I hope it returns in blops 3!
2. Ghosts had WAY too many perks, the perk system sucked. The perks were overkill,
Squad points sucked

Ghosts was easily the worst CoD. I must be the only one that hates how the prestige/ leveling system works, as well as the unlocking system, because those 2 things and the maps were the worst part of the game.

Yeah, I really didn't like the squad points system. The progression felt awkward and random, and rarely ever earned. Leveling took forever too. I think I stopped playing multiplayer when I was still level 12 or 13.

Multiplayer teaser gives me some hype. Real changes to gameplay? Nice. The jetpack in the very least will significantly change things up. I felt like MW3 and Ghosts was the most phoned in multi in the series. Blops 2 didn't do anything new really, but the maps were good and spawns solid. Exciting that this doesn't seem to be MW5 as far as multi is concerned. Have yet to see if Sledgehammer can deliver on map design but color me hopefull.

Yes, I am hyped for a call of duty game for the first time in a while, but it's a reserved hype. The TTK is just too damn short to make things interesting. If they bring it to black ops level I'll be satisfied, but based on that tease it looks like that ain't happening.

Yay the only part of CoD I care (and care a lot) about! All the other fluff is just nonsense I have no interest in until they show off multi.

Please bring back Demolition. :(

Based Tryarch are my only hopes next year if everyone else sucks and takes it away.

Man I already have three shooters on the docket this year. Destiny, Evolve, and Halo: MCC. Do not know if I can fit another one in. IF the MP looks awesome then I may pick it up, but it really depends on what they show. Ghosts was terrible and I do not want to be burned again.

The one thing I fear will never change, as it hasn't since MW1, is the awful lag compensation. Seeing one thing as a player and seeing another as a reply. It has ruined this franchise.

Modern Warfare 2 perfected hit detection, it was buttery smooth. You felt the shots, like every bullet was actually there where it's supposed to be. Then Infinity Ward of old ran off and everything went to crap after the next games. Not even Dedicated Servers has been able to fix it. They did some magic that they couldn't even replicate in Titanfall.

If I'm looking at this gif right we have:

Titanfall/Destiny Double Jumps

BF4 Leveloution

Titanfall Exoskeletons

COD style gunplay.

A weird mashup of styles. I'm also sad to see, that the damn Minimap hasn't been improved. At least in ghost it was wider, here it looks like the minimap from most of the CODs.

I really hope the multiplayer is good, Ghosts was fucking terrible and I regret buying it.

This is my concern. I hated MW3 and I hated Ghosts. Sledgehammer assisted on MW3, and I thought they helped on Ghosts as well but google doesn't reflect that sentiment. BLOPS 2 I ultimately loved very much for the pick 10 system, the new equipment, and the feeling that I needed to have several very different classes for different situations but the maps are very hit or miss for me. Honestly, I feel that each new CoD has fewer and fewer maps that I love.

If Sledgehammer worked on MW3 but not Ghosts, then maybe MW3 shouldn't be pinned on Sledgehammer. I hope to like AW, but it's hard to believe a new studio will get it right on the first go. Map design is the biggest worry for me, as well as certain controversial issues like how they handle quickscoping. I disliked all of Ghosts' create-a-class changes and loved Pick 10, so I'm very interested to see in which direction Sledgehammer goes. Only time will tell, but I'll be there for the MP reveal for sure.

edit: I love CoD for 6v6 and small-mid maps. I like the progression systems and all the stuff to do outside of the match. I like the joystick tuning, which feels like perfection to me (as much as I love BF, this is the one thing that I always struggle with). I like the simple-but-effect radar (it's very readable and you get to know the blueprints on the radar as well as you know the level layout, eventually). I like the objective modes. And of course, I like the perks, killstreaks, and create-a-class. What I hate about CoD is dropshotting, quickscoping, people running around like crazy, etc. Maybe that's why WaW was my favorite--it was slower paced. Those jetpack images, while cool looking, don't build my confidence up much. CoD has progressively gotten faster and more ADD, which is fine, but it's not for me.

I'm sure those ideas were implemented well before Titanfall and Destiny were unveiled.

I can't wait for CoD to be honest. Didn't like Ghosts at first when I had it on 360. But playing BF4 and TitanFall on Xbox One has really showed me that they both have something from CoD, but it doesn't have the pace, hype and competition in MP games. Barely ANYONE talks in TitanFall or BF4 (blame party chat) and that has killed those games for me.

Hopefully they have forced in-game chat in team based non-respawn game-modes like in MW2 and 3.

That's the biggest problem with Ghosts. There's essentially 2-3 CoD maps packed into one map. The majority of deaths experienced in Ghosts are from getting shot in the back because you guessed where the enemies spawned incorrectly, or someone flanked you from 5 possible flanking spots.
That's the thing that bothers me the most about the maps these days. There's way too many places enemies can come from that you cannot possibly cover. You just can't. So what do you do? You guess of course. Or just hope for the best. There's no strategy there other than maybe learning spawn points and using that to your advantage but that's so lame. It encourages a style of gameplay that sucks from a lot of players. It's not rocket science, they can be medium sized and even big AND well designed. They've done it in the past. Just with zero consistency.

I think the map design comes as a poorly thought out response to all the complaints about campers that Call of Duty regularly gets. The thing is, campers really aren't difficult to deal with (unless they are clever and itinerant). It's always rough when you're first learning the maps, but if you're a smart player, you learn where all the favorite choke-points are and you learn how to safely approach them-- or to at least be more aware of your environment. You learn how to utilize them too, and listen for signs of approaching enemies.

In Ghosts, the map design is so open, all the systems have been cocked up. There's no safety. If you try to hold a point, you can never tell when to leave. You just have to guess that maybe somebody is approaching from one of the 5 entrance points, and skedaddle. It's ridiculous. The horrible spawn system doesn't help matters.

That's an inevitability with lag. The only thing they can change is who is going to be screwed by it.

Although with Ghosts lag is pretty much a death sentence for you. The game is essentially a reaction time test. Something about Ghosts feels empty, and Advanced Warfare already looks 100x more interesting.

It's just so very, very bad in CoD. You die from people not even facing your direction or shooting a single bullet. This isn't Battlefields death around a corner issuez this is waaaay off.

Clearly the games aren't all the same multiplayer wise, veteran CoD players despise the spawns, hitboxes, latency, and maps in Ghosts.

Also the color palet is awful players don't pop so they can be hard to see and the game looks muddy. spawns, hitboxes, latency, and maps in Ghosts all terrible. They Also left out league play from blops 2 which in my opinion was one of the best things introduced to the franchise.

Map design is also shit in ghosts maps are not symmetrical shit everywhere and every room has 3 or 4 entrances the game is a mess. Mw3 and ghosts are the worst in the series. Infinity ward is dead to me now.
