Delta 4819 rolls upside down landing at Toronto Pearson, no casualities, Feb17.

I don't know man, but are there more plane incidents in the last few months, or am I just sensitive to aviation news right now? That is just nuts.

i wish i could fly to avoid air travel in planes

No, they're just covering them more. Even CNN has the receipts. They're actually trending downward. No pun intended.

These accidents aren't necessarily happening more frequently lately. Just more coverage and attention on them. I asked Grok for the number of commercial airline accidents by year since 2000. Here's the data:

YearAccident CountNotes
200051High accident rate; pre-9/11 era with older safety standards.
200145Includes 9/11 attacks (4 crashes); excludes them, count drops to 41.
200243Post-9/11 safety adjustments begin.
200339Gradual decline in accidents.
200435Continued improvements in training and tech.
200540Slight uptick; includes notable crashes like Helios Airways Flight 522.
200633Steady decline resumes.
200736Includes São Paulo TAM crash (hull loss).
200838Relatively stable accident rate.
200934Includes Air France 447 (Atlantic loss).
201032Safety tech like TCAS gaining traction.
201135Consistent with prior years.
201230Downward trend continues.
201329Includes Asiana 214 (SFO crash, not fatal but a hull loss).
201421Lower count, but high-profile losses (MH370, MH17).
201516Significant drop; Germanwings 9525 deliberate crash stands out.
201619Low count; includes EgyptAir 804.
201713One of the safest years; no fatal jet crashes globally.
201815Includes Lion Air 610 (737 MAX crash).
201920Includes Ethiopian 302 (737 MAX); grounding follows.
20208Sharp drop; COVID reduced flights (17 million sectors vs. 40 million).
202127Flights rebound; includes Sriwijaya Air 182.
202242IATA reports 42 accidents, 5 fatal; includes China Eastern 5735.
202330IATA confirms 30 accidents, 1 fatal; safest year by some metrics.
202428Preliminary; full-year data incomplete but trending low per early stats.

There's just more reporting. Whenever there is a mass shooting you will get more reports of shooting incidents in the weeks that follow. Similar thing happened with that one high profile train derailment a while back.

Do these plane incidents happen all the time and they just don't report them?
Probably the black church burning 'crisis' or shark attack events, once the media starts talking about every single one, it seems like they are increasing in frequency. Largely an awareness issue, not a.true spike in incidence.
