I'm talking about the depiction of the character. The Cayde in the trailer is full 100% comic relief. My point is that I don't want Cayde to be like that in Destiny 2. I hope they haven't taken the positive response to Cayde being a good comic relief in TTK to mean they should make him into Fozzy the Bear.

Cayde goes through entire scenes from TTK on as just sarcastic comic relief, so I don't think that's a good comparison. That said, I think the idea was just to contrast his personality with Zavala's, so they emphasized the differences for the sake of comedy. Part of what makes Cayde's character work is, as you said, he's not like that all the time. But I don't think this trailer is a sound way to draw the conclusion that he's going to be all comedy, all the time.

Man the negativity/shit posting on gaf and especially destiny threads is out of control. What is it with Destiny that brings out so much hyperbole?

I don't know. I remember watching the D2 trailer, getting excited for the PC version.... and then coming here. Full of negativity.

Maybe I'm just naive for not having played the first game (outside of a few minutes on a friend's PS4). But I'm still excited. For now....

Exactly, it was set up to be a clear contrast between the two speeches. They released a journal of Cayde's with TTK that is a fun read if you're looking for that. There is more to the character, but for the trailer they went with levity to contrast with Zavala's gravity. Nothing more to it.

I am most interested in how this game will be on PC. From a visual/performance standpoint, I really hope they don't force parity between consoles and PC. I want 60 FPS Destiny 2. Anything else is unacceptable on PC. Bungie games have always played strangely to me on PC. I think Bungie embraces console controls in a way a lot of shooter developers don't. So I wonder how that will translate to keyboard and mouse. It is going to be interesting how balancing abilities/perks will be on PC. I actually think it is going to be harder to land precision hits on PC if they completely turn off aim assist for PC. The console Destiny's aim-assist is extremely aggressive in PvE.

Heh I used to be on the "lol destiny" camp. I think I tuned into Twitch the day VoG went live and people were EIGHT hours in the first raid without completion. From there I had cemented my impression of Destiny. "Why would they make the game so hard that it takes 8 hours to finish something?!" "It's just a grind not worth my time"

I ended up buying D1+Expansion in December for my father in law that year when it was 50% off digitally, but I got the added bonus of getting a copy because of Xbox Sharing. My first post in the Destiny OT was something along the lines of "What class is OP so I can bulldoze my way through the content and help my father in law."

Well, it's nearly 3 years later and it's the game that I casually play the most on the side and every expansion was bought day 1. I'm happy that through the years the content/grind is getting easier, but if you want to be put in high pressure situations, the raid is there and definitely a lot of fun when you're in that "I/We got this" moment of being in sync.

Destiny hits the casual MMORPG aspect for me and the shooting is fun. Hype for PC, and am going to build a new one just for this.

Might be obvious, but for folks who are new to the game or are making the jump to PC, Bungie accounts have a unique ID that you can choose and change, and I assume that is what will be used/displayed in game.

So if you haven't already chosen one, might be a good time to get a jump on that to try to get a name that you like. Bungie.net has been around for ages and they don't delete old profiles afaik so the pickings are already slim, I'm sure, but will only get slimmer as we get closer to release.

I actually agree. Even if D2 was exactly like D1 many of us would still buy it and enjoy it a lot.

If you wouldn't enjoy that, I'd recommend just not getting your hopes up about D2 at all. Probably better off if you just plan to skip it, and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised later. In the meantime, no need to shit on it for 6 months straight. Just move on to other games you enjoy.

thats how i see it

Destiny's aim-assist bordered aimbot even in PvP for long time. Handcannons, scout rifles and sniper rifles would go for that headshot lock like magnets pulling towards each other. It was absurd how e.g. Hakwmoon would just get "stuck" on players head hitbox and even track its movements.

I'm so glad that they are doing beta on all platforms, good place to put PC version through its paces and see if they are doing it right or trying to pass sloppy shit as PC game.

The Darkness had nothing on OG Rahool

He was The Darkness. Most likely still is, just giving Guardians illusion of control over him.

honestly i was happy with Destiny on PS4. still playing it actually. I would love to jump to PC. all i want is 60fps and a FOV adjuster.

also i hope PC gamers really take to it. I don't want to buy it on PC then find out nobody is sticking with it then have to buy it again on PS4.

As long as they don't fuck up the port it should have a big audience, I do hope it's on Steam though, but not expecting it.

I would imagine it'll be on Steam. They'll want to release it on the biggest store. It's not gonna be exclusive to EA/Microsoft's stores.

Rahool still pulls his nonsense
You level him up and get a purple card that says you can get legendary items and he still only gives me blue engrams. I must have missed a patch from two years ago.

What used to kill me about this was after he did it, when you exit from the transaction he says
- "Always a pleasure, Guardian"

From my understanding Steam takes 30%(?) of revenue so I can see them not having it on Steam. They do not need Steam to make sales so I wouldn't say it's a 100% sure thing that it will be there.

I'll buy it on PC just for fun but I fully expect it to be full of cheating. Be wonderful if I am wrong though.

Why would they do that? Any indication that this has happened?

Traveler is literally in flames in CGI + there is no single Ghost around. Every member of Vanguard has lost theirs and not even free Ghosts zipping around. Something goes down with Light, Ghosts and Traveler early on.

Um, why you expect it to be cheater city? "Game X is full of cheaters on PC!" narrative is pure bollocks 4 times out of 5.

Definitely in relation to our Guardians being stripped of their powers and seeking out new ones.

But Nolan hasn't abandoned us. Dinklebot must return to our side

where else would they sell it? they have the COD games up on Steam.

Their own platform or launcher could be an avenue they pursue. And to clarify I'm not saying that either them going on Steam or not is 100%. But if they lose revenue by hosting on Steam then it would make sense for them to want to avoid that scenario.

Why do people think this? Cheating on pc really isn't common at all. Only recent example I can think of was The Division, and that was because the way they had made the game made it very easy to do from what I understood. But you really don't see cheaters on pc in major games normally. I can't even remember the last time I saw a cheater.

Would Overwatch aim botting be considered cheating or is there a different technical term used for processes that don't change items/stats/etc but change physical tracking or character movement? But yea the last big cheating issue I heard about was in The Division, but I have heard that Overwatch is still cracking down on some of their users.

Bungie would probably crackdown on anything funny business.

Division and R6Siege both had cheater issues, but both also took that fight and both games are doing well on that front. "Cheating is super rampant in PC games!" narrative pops up every now and then, but rarely there is anything to back it up and if devs step up large majority of cheaters will get dealt with.

The first mission will probably be getting your ghost back. Isn't there lore surrounding Guardians that don't rely on the Traveller?

Yep. There is Guardians that have abandoned Traveler and Light by choice and also Guardians like Eris who had to abandon it under severe circumstances.

Is aimbotting rampant in OW? I have put several hundred hours into that game and not seen single cheater, but been taking break for few months now.

Just dropped that preorder can't wait to get D2. I know way to many people that wanted to jump into D1 but did not as they had not been playing since that start, now it's going to be fucking lit

Aim botting would obviously be cheating. But I've played hundreds of OW games and have yet to encounter a single player who I could tell was cheating.

This IGN video pointing out things I missed in the trailer got me more hyped than the trailer itself

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=leZBsA73yL8

Super interesting that there are no ghosts. I'm pretty excited to learn more and to experience an actual story.

Glad you're here to fight for us against this injustice

To be fair, there's a lot of reason for people to assume the expansion passes are going to cost more than they're worth. The Taken King was great, but some would argue that Rise of Iron was a bit barebones other than the raid. The Festival of the Lost event was literally just a way to get people to buy microtransactions. On the other hand, it seems like they learned from that in the latest Dawning.

Still, while we can't really pass any judgment yet, it's easy to be skeptical of Bungie/Activision in that regard

I don't know how rampant it is since I play on PS4 but I watch and listen to PC Overwatch players so I know Blizzard has came down again with another ban hammer

I think PC cheating was more prevalent years ago vs. now. TBH, I had more problems with cheaters on consoles than PC the last few years. *Shakes fist at stupid D3 dupers*

Is this Osiris related?

I think so. I feel like that's why Osiris left.

Yep. There is Guardians that have abandoned Traveler and Light by choice and also Guardians like Eris who had to abandon it under severe circumstances.
:)

Fuck, I love Destiny lore.

At the end of the day, I don't like the tone of the trailer but it just doesn't matter. The humor is just surface level. The deep lore of Destiny is dark and fantastical.
