People hung up on them not showing gameplay.... Could you not just, I don't know, watch or play Destiny right now? Are you expecting it to be dramatically different for some reason?
Do you not see how big that 2 is? If Destiny 2 is largely the same gameplay as Destiny 1, I will be very disappointed. I'm expecting significant improvements and changes.

In terms of the world? I hope so. God I hate patrols, orbit, the tower. I want it all seamless (other than loading screens for different planets).
I want to know the new activities they talked about, new powers, new weapons.

I'd like to see gameplay from Destiny 2, because I want to see what has changed from Destiny 1...

Have they added a good campaign this time around?
Can I find people to play with, without having to go on neogaf or other third party websites?
Are there more vehicles this time around?
What are the multiplayer modes and options?

etc.

Guess I was just thinking in terms of shooting when I see people say "gameplay". Either way, I don't see what the rush is

I mean, I'd be more than happy if the gameplay stayed the same, and when people just say "gameplay" without adding anything like the other people I quoted did, I assume they're talking about the action portion, which I don't see being very different.

(Moved this to the next page to get some opinions since it'll get lost at the bottom of the last one.)

I still champion the idea of having the original system in place, with an added LFG in game and an optional match making system for those who wish to use it. I don't see why it would hurt anything to give players a choice on the matter.

Nah that's a worthwhile discussion (although I will never agree about slapping barebones matchmaking on raids as being the solution)

Exactly. My biggest issue (as I've stated 3523523 times) is the lack of matchmaking on non-Raid activities due to the lack of reasoning behind it. Come on, Bungie, you literally designed story missions to be played with two other people but won't let me use matchmaking on a playlist of story missions? wat?

My solution for matchmaking is as follows:

In-Game LFG: There would be a simple menu system not unlike the Private Matches menus that you can access from orbit or whatever Destiny 2's version of that is. Obviously most people will likely use it for Raids but you can set up your "lobby" to simply find a group and jump in to the activity you want.

Raids: Once you have completed the Raid from start to finish on one character, a matchmaking option would unlock for that Raid on your entire account. However, it would still have caveats: you would need to be a specific light level and the game needs to detect a mic. This would assure that those using matchmaking know what they're doing, meaning if the game throws someone into the middle of a Raid, they're not lost.

If you get a Fireteam together through the LFG tool and you're down a player or two, you can of course jump into matchmaking as long as everyone on your team has beaten the Raid once.

Trials of Osiris: It would have two separate playlists. One would be for pre-made Fireteams of three players. It would obviously only put pre-made Fireteams against other pre-made Fireteams.

The other would be a matchmaking playlist and it would only put matchmade teams against other matchmade teams. However, the game will keep your team together until someone leaves or needs a new Trials Passage in case you find some people you click with. As with Raids, you would need to be a certain light level and the game would need to detect a mic.

The rewards would be identical in both playlists and you can still go to the Lighthouse as well. Might it be harder with matchmaking? Sure but as many teams will end up sticking together if they go on a roll, I believe it will even out.

(No, I don't know if a 2-person Fireteam could use the matchmaking option. I can't decide if that would be too uneven or not. But hey, test it out, listen to feedback, change it if needed.)

Everything Else: Optional blind matchmaking you can toggle on/off for every single other activity. Nightfall, Strikes, arenas like Prison of Elders, Heroic Story Playlist and even normal story missions. It would be on by default and you simply need to hit a button to turn it off.

It comes down to options. The more options Bungie gives us, the better the game will be.

I absolutely agree with you, but I personally want to see the whole "In Orbit" system nuked from another galaxy. It's been years since I played WoW, but back when I did they had a pretty great LFG system. You could just browse a list of activities and say you wanted people for something and then just leave the listing there while you continued to play. I detailed this in a prior post, but the biggest change I'm hoping to see in Destiny 2 is just having less more ways to continue playing.

No going to orbit after each activity, minimal loading screens. Come on Bungie! I want all of Destiny 2 to be as seamless as possible. Pre-release marketing for Destiny 1 made that promise and the final game really failed to deliver.

Doubt it. Part of retaking the Last City will also be securing the Traveler, I'd assume. The lack of ghosts in the trailer definitely is interesting, though.

Also, Nolan North is confirmed to be back.
I want a female ghost va for my guardian this time around. I guess it would be too much of an ask.

If the first game ranks as one of the biggest disappointments of the gen to me considering it is massively smaller than they were promising in interviews and was super thin on story, do I have hope for this sequel fulfilling the promise of the first game that caused it to get mediocre reviews and players turned off by story?

I want an actually story and numerous huge beautiful places to explore. At least cross gen is dead.

I pre-ordered the Limited Edition. Shame on me but those +600 hours on Destiny 1 say otherwise..

I don't see the shame, I'm still pissed I missed the Amazon window of collectors edition. Though if I'm being honest with myself, the limited edition is best for me (doubt I'd use the messenger bag).

I'm curious if over the coming months someone creates a GAF poll of who is leaving console for PC. No real option for me as I'll choose either PS4pro or the OneS, and I think pro will be the way to go.

I think it's ultimately just because people are interested in the game. But also because Destiny 1 was a genuine dissapointment for many of us, and now that Destiny 2 official, people like me just really want to see if Destiny 2 fixes the issues from the first one. Something a cgi trailer wont tell me.

i'm exactly like you.

I don't think there's many concrete details so far. I do expect that Destiny 2 will address many of the issues people had with the first one though. But yeah, definitely in the wait and see stage at this point

If there's no raid matchmaking, I won't play this game. No story, no raid matchmaking, what is the point of it.

CGI reveal trailers suck. In an age when Sony and EA reveal almost everything using in-engine trailers, it just screams a weakness in graphical appeal. It is like saying "we ain't raising any bars with visuals" to me.

And the box art doesn't give any confidence in their art.

I didn't plan on getting the Amazon CE, but I liked watching that stuff to see how fast it sells out. When did they actually put the pre-orders up for the CE? I was watching it all day yesterday and nothing seemed to happen.

I know, it's weird not to show any gameplay then require everyone to pay $60 now for the game.

Destiny has some of the most beautiful art there is.

Compared to vanilla, the year 2 and year 3 expansions showed that at least they have a better understanding on story development. Though, considering the development issues leading to vanilla's release, I'm not concerned for the amount of presentation of the story. I'm only concerned for quality e.g. compare TTK (supposed to be in the base game) vs. Iron expansion which felt a little rushed and short story wise.

FYI: GameStop is handing out Cayde statues for anyone that pre-orders the LE in store. You don't have to pay it off right then either. Just put down $5 and the statue is yours (if they still have them).

I still dont get this game as a PC player and this trailer did %0 thing to convince me

not even brief gameplay , why would i buy this game ? It looks like lame version of Borderlands humour with generic robot designs

hard pass

I would imagine this ealry in the marketing cycle, it's msotly about hyping up their existing fanbase, because yeah, this trailer did absolutley nothign for me as a PC gamer who never played the original.

I guess it's funny if you've played the previous game? 'cause it wasn't funny to me. There was exactly nothign remotely interesting about this trailer for na outsider.

I'm guessing they'll hit up new comers once gameplay becomes vailable.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't do more to sell the game to PC gamers six months from release.

Doubt it, but it could be Windows 10 only, with the encryption and game mode stuff.

I know the gameplay reveal is set for 7 weeks or something from now. But should we at least expect some information in the meantime from things like the weekly updates?

The article I read would have put the sellout close to midnight EST today. I signed up for email alerts for two accounts, refreshed periodically from 1pm to 6pm and nothing. So those things must've sold like hot cakes.

It's not like the game is coming out tomorrow, we already got a date for the gameplay reveal, it's definitely going to be at E3 and gamescom. Unless you pre-ordered digitally you can cancel anytime, I don't see the problem here, Activision/Bungie aren't the first to reveal a game using a cgi trailer...

Not just one, but two cgi trailers. That's where I draw the damn line.
